“Dad, is what you’re saying really true?” Jasper was completely dumbfounded.
Fletcher? In Jasper’s mind, he was the highest-ranking figure, a god-like persona. To him, Fletcher was a legend, an absolute legend. The only reason others showed respect to Jasper’s father was because he worked for the Atkinson Group.
If even Fletcher respected that guy, didn’t that mean his own father wasn’t even worth that guy’s attention?
The thought of such a vast gap was terrifying!
Beckett sighed, chiding his son in frustration, “You really know how to cause trouble, don’t you? Coleman? Coleman was just sucking up to him. If it weren’t for Fletcher’s sake, you’d be dead already! Don’t you get it?”
Jasper’s mind started racing. The first time Jasper met that guy, he mentioned Coleman had just treated him to dinner. Then he made a phone call to Coleman, and next thing you know, he got a VIP invitation!
At the entrance, that awe-inspiring presence was Fletcher’s doing for that guy! He was a big shot, someone who became the center of attention wherever he went.
That day, he called Fletcher, and then Beckett’s call came in. However, Jasper still refused to believe that guy had any real power!
Now, everything made sense!
Sariah, Coleman, they were all helping that guy! So they all knew his true identity!
Jasper dared not think any further. The more he thought about it, the more foolish he felt!
“Dad, who is he really? He doesn’t look rich at all! And he married into the Adams family… isn’t that a bit…” Jasper was on the verge of tears.
Beckett snorted, “I don’t know either, but even someone at the top like Fletcher treats him with utmost respect. What hope do we have?”
“Then… then what do we do now? He said he’d come to see you,” Jasper stammered.
Beckett froze at these words, then quickly turned to ask, “What did you say?”
Jasper recounted everything that happened when the guy stopped him after leaving that day.
Beckett nearly coughed up blood when he realized what happened. He hurriedly said, “Let’s go, quick, we need to go apologize right away! Don’t wait for him to come to us, or we’ll be in deep trouble!”
As he spoke, Beckett tried his best to control his trembling body.
How could he dare offend someone of that caliber? He’d stay far away from such people if he could. If he had any chance to curry favor or make contact, he would have done so long ago!
He glanced at Jasper, feeling the urge to kill his son right then and there.

That evening, only Kayden and Georgia were home. Leah was at school, Harvey had been on a business trip for about a week, and as for Scarlett, she had gone out and hadn’t returned yet.
Georgia sat on the couch watching TV, while Kayden was in the kitchen, cooking noodles for her.
Georgia was watching the local Hiphia news channel, which just broke a shocking story. The chairman of the Sunny Group had been arrested on multiple charges, and the company’s assets were seized.
“Oh my god, Heath, the Sunny Group chairman, has been arrested!” Georgia exclaimed in surprise. This was indeed big news for her, especially since the company had just announced plans to go public within two months.
Kayden just flashed a faint smile, thinking to himself, “You wanted my wife in jail, so I’ll make sure you end up there first!”
In this small city of Hiphia, how could anything escape his notice?
Not to say Kayden was all-knowing, but ever since Greedy Wolf learned of his whereabouts, he had eyes and ears all over Hiphia.
Soon, the noodles were ready. Kayden brought a steaming bowl to Georgia.
Georgia wanted to play hard to get and not speak a word Kayden so quickly, but after smelling the aromatic noodles, she couldn’t resist taking the bowl. In no time, she had wolfed down all the noodles.
Kayden took the empty bowl and dutifully went to the kitchen to wash it.
After finishing the dishes, Kayden came back and sat on the couch. He wasn’t too close to Georgia, but not too far either, keeping about 50-60 centimeters between them.
Georgia wore a pair of hot pants, so short they barely covered her upper thighs. She had on a beige t-shirt that revealed her cleavage, looking quite alluring.
She subconsciously glanced at Kayden, who seemed calm and indifferent as he leaned back on the couch.
Inside the room, apart from the TV’s sound, only their steady breathing could be heard.
Georgia stole another glance at Kayden, seeing his cool demeanor. She thought to herself how infuriating Kayden was, having made such a big mistake and not even taking the initiative to talk to her.
Moreover, here was a sexy woman right in front of him, and he seemed completely oblivious.
“Hey!” Georgia grew a bit angry. She lightly kicked Kayden with her foot and asked, “Why aren’t you going out tonight?”
Georgia’s question seemed somewhat rhetorical. After asking, she turned her gaze back to the TV.
Kayden turned to look at Georgia, then shifted his gaze to her thighs.
Noticing this, Georgia frowned and asked, “What are you looking at? Why are you staring at my legs?”
As she spoke, she instinctively reached out to cover her thighs. Seeing this, Kayden visibly hesitated, even blinking a few times. Covering her thighs with her hands – how much could that really cover?
Still, he had to admit, Georgia was truly beautiful, even her thighs were so perfectly proportioned.
Seeing Kayden still staring at her legs, Georgia pulled her legs back and uttered a single word, “Pervert!”
“You think that makes me a pervert?” Kayden retorted.
Georgia nodded. “Yes!”
“Well, we used to sleep in the same room, and I’ve even seen you change clothes before!” Kayden replied.
“You…!” Georgia’s face turned red.
“How can you be so shameless!”
Kayden said nothing, just staring intently at Georgia.
In the dim light, Kayden’s fervent gaze was filled with a heat that made one’s heart race.
After a few seconds of staring back, Georgia had to look away. Her heart was pounding, and she felt it difficult to withstand such an intense gaze!
“By the way, can I ask what your previous job really was? Don’t lie, tell me the truth! I used to think you were a chef, but today I saw you’re skilled with Internet technology. What exactly did you do for work?” Georgia’s words tumbled out, her speech a bit slurred.
Kayden hesitated for a moment, then said slowly and clearly, “I fought wars. I come from a place of conflict. The most dangerous place in this world. Today, I’m laying all my cards on the table!”
