Kayden’s expression remained calm as he tapped a few keys. Suddenly, the previously black screen lit up with a string of alphanumeric characters.
In reality, Kayden didn’t need to bother with the company’s IP issue. Even if the collaboration details were stolen, Fletcher wouldn’t dare sue Georgia or cause trouble for the Adams family.
After all, Fletcher was Kayden’s subordinate. How could he dare to mess with his boss’s wife?
Still, resolving the issue was the best solution, as it would eliminate the need for a second collaboration attempt.
No one else in the room could make sense of the string of characters, but Callen understood them perfectly.
It was a highly specialized code, the kind you would only see at the pinnacle of the tech world.
Jamie stood off to the side, arms crossed, and scoffed, “What a show-off!”
Callen was among the top five tech experts in Hiphia. If he couldn’t figure it out, how could this supposed idiot? Despite Kayden’s apparent skills, Jamie doubted he could outmatch the hacker Heath had hired.
Georgia’s heart was in her throat. She didn’t dare speak, just hoping for a miracle.
Kayden’s hands flew across the keyboard, filling the room with a rapid-fire clatter. Everyone held their breath, watching Kayden’s flurry of activity in silent awe.
About five minutes later, an image of a grassland suddenly appeared on the screen, followed by the familiar Windows startup sound.
Kayden sat back and declared nonchalantly, “It’s done. I’ve defeated the hacker, and their company’s systems are now in shambles. They won’t be able to function for at least a week or two.”
“This… this…!” Callen was speechless. He had witnessed the entire process, but Kayden had been too fast, implementing techniques Callen had never seen before.
It wasn’t just Callen; probably no one in Seclela had seen such a powerful internet security system.
At least not in the commercial world. Such systems were usually reserved for government use.
Could it be…?
Callen’s mind was reeling. He stared at Kayden, then back at the computer screen. It was unbelievable, simply unbelievable!
Had he really encountered someone this powerful in Hiphia?
“How did you do that?” Callen asked, wide-eyed, as he approached the computer and tested it with the mouse.
It had worked. The hacker had truly been repelled, and their system was now in disarray.
Kayden didn’t answer Callen’s question. He just stared at Callen intently.
Suddenly, Callen met Kayden’s gaze. After a few seconds of eye contact, Callen dropped to his knees with a thud. Looking up at Kayden, he exclaimed, “Master! Please accept me as your disciple!”
This scene left everyone dumbfounded, especially those who had been mocking Kayden earlier. They couldn’t laugh anymore.
It was clear that Kayden had successfully restored the computer system.
They had made a bet earlier – if Kayden could reboot the system and solve the hacker problem, Callen would have to kneel.
To everyone’s astonishment, Callen actually got down on his knees in front of Kayden. This was no small matter – Callen was a company veteran, revered by everyone from the mailroom to the boardroom.
Known for his haughty demeanor, Callen typically couldn’t be bothered with run-of-the-mill employees. He kept his own hours, swanning in and out as he pleased, with everyone expected to greet him deferentially. Some even whispered that he wielded more clout than the chairman, given that he was responsible for the entire company’s tech system.
The sight sent chills down everyone’s spines.
Kayden was barely in his twenties, supposedly an idiot who had recently jumped from the company’s roof.
Yet here was Callen, kneeling before him. It was hard to process, but it spoke volumes about Kayden’s abilities.
No one dared to make a sound. They all stared at Kayden and Callen, eyes wide.
Jamie’s smug expression had completely vanished. What had just happened? Had Kayden really defeated the hacker?
Jamie felt his head spinning, as if his world was crumbling around him.
After Callen’s plea to be accepted as a disciple, he was about to kowtow to Kayden.
Kayden quickly raised his hand to stop Callen. He helped Callen up. “Callen, there’s no need for that. I just hope you’ll support my wife well from now on.”
Callen’s face reddened with shame. He bowed his head, saying, “I was blind to your greatness, Master. With you here to protect the company’s systems, I have no right to stay. I’ll resign immediately.”
“No!” Kayden said firmly. “I think you’re more suited for this than I am.”
Callen was indeed a man of his word. He had knelt before Kayden in front of everyone, disregarding his own pride. This showed he was different from others – he only respected those with superior skills.
In any field, the more skilled you were, the more respect you commanded.
“That’s right, Callen! The company can’t function without you,” Georgia chimed in, eager to keep him.
Callen looked at Kayden, then sighed. “Well, I suppose I’ll have to swallow my pride and stay. But for my earlier behavior, I sincerely apologize. I’m sorry, Ms. Adams!”
With that, Callen bowed deeply to Georgia, a full 90 degrees.
With the crisis resolved, the crowd began to disperse, buzzing with conversation.
“Ms. Adams’s husband is incredible! He solved a problem even Callen couldn’t handle.”
“You really can’t judge a book by its cover. Did you see how excited Callen was? It’s like he’d never seen such powerful tech before! Who would’ve thought Ms. Adams had such an amazing husband?”
“Yeah, he might have had some brain issues before, but now that he’s recovered, he’s truly impressive. The way he typed was so cool. If he dressed up a bit, he’d be drop-dead gorgeous.”
“Come on, don’t even think about it. He’s Ms. Adams’s husband!”
“I wish my husband was that capable!”
“Dream on, you don’t even have a husband yet!”
Kayden’s gaze suddenly turned to Jamie, who was still standing there in shock. Jamie visibly trembled, as if he’d been struck by lightning.
“Their system is completely destroyed now,” Kayden said, his eyes boring into Jamie. “I’ll find out who provided our IP to them.”
