This message was clearly meant for Jamie, as Kayden knew exactly who had provided the IP address.
Jamie’s eyes darted around nervously before he hastily retreated through the door and turned to leave.
He had barely taken two steps when Old Mrs. Adams, her face dark with anger, called out to him, “Jamie, what’s the situation?”
Jamie stammered, but before he could respond, Kayden and Georgia had already emerged from the room.
“Grandma, it’s settled now!” Georgia announced generously.
Old Mrs. Adams nodded vigorously. “Good, good! I’m glad it’s resolved. Georgia, you are so capable, able to solve any problem that comes up. With you at the company, I can rest easy.”
It was clear that Old Mrs. Adams had gradually come to trust Georgia, despite her initial reluctance to see a woman in charge. Now that the company was thriving and expanding rapidly, she felt somewhat more at ease.
Jamie couldn’t bear to watch this scene unfold. He had brought Old Mrs. Adams here to witness Georgia being humiliated and see the company plunge into trouble. Who would have thought it would turn into a showcase of Georgia’s problem-solving skills? His plan had backfired.
Meanwhile, at the Sunny Group.
Chaos reigned over the Sunny Group. The factory, which had been under construction, suddenly ground to a halt.
To make matters worse, the abrupt shutdown caused a machine malfunction, resulting in a massive steel beam falling and instantly killing several workers.
In the office, beads of sweat had formed on Heath’s forehead.
Across from him sat a man with glasses and black hair, hunched over a computer. His fingers flew across the keyboard, but despite his efforts, he couldn’t restore the system.
After countless failed attempts, Heath finally snapped. He slammed his palm on the desk and roared at the man, “Are you fucking capable or not? Didn’t you study computer science abroad?”
The man gulped, looking at the enraged Heath with trepidation. “Mr. Mcdaniel, the system can’t be recovered. We’re dealing with an incredibly skilled hacker on the other side.”
“Incredibly skilled?” A storm of expletives raged through Heath’s mind. He glared at the hacker before him and spat, “How skilled could anyone in Hiphia possibly be? Didn’t you say that not just in Hiphia, but in the entire Southwest, no one could match your skills?”
The man hung his head and muttered, “That should have been the case, but this opponent is… different.”
“Different? What’s so special about Callen? I know exactly how capable he is.”
The hacker shook his head vehemently. “Mr. Mcdaniel, it’s not Callen. Callen couldn’t possibly possess this level of skill. This person must be from the military. I’ve only encountered this kind of technology once before, and it exists only within military circles. It’s the most advanced protection system in the world.”
“The military?” Heath was stunned. After a moment, he asked, “Are you certain this is military-grade technology?”
The hacker nodded firmly. “Nobody else could overcome my skills except the military!”
“So what do we do now?” Heath’s entire body trembled with rage. Never in his wildest dreams had he imagined encountering military-grade technology. His perfect plan had gone completely off the rails.
The hacker stood up, shaking his head. “Mr. Mcdaniel, I suggest you pray for mercy.”
With that, he bolted for the door.
What the hell was Heath expecting him to do against military tech?
The next step for Heath would likely be prison. Who in their right mind would dare to mess with the military?
This turn of events caught Heath completely off guard. He shouted after the fleeing hacker, “You son of a…”
Before he could finish, a man in a crisp suit rushed into the office. “Mr. Mcdaniel, we have a catastrophe on our hands! Nineteen workers are dead. You need to come immediately!”
Just as the suited man finished speaking, Heath’s phone rang. It was Jamie.
He answered, and Jamie’s furious voice blared through the speaker. “Mr. Mcdaniel, didn’t you say you could get Georgia arrested? Now she’s gone and taken out your hacker!”
Heath, already at his wit’s end, roared back into the phone, “You useless piece of shit! I’ll deal with you later!”
He hung up abruptly.
On the other end, Jamie shuddered in fear. Heath’s influence was vast; if he decided to “deal with” Jamie, it would be a death sentence.
He needed to find a place to hide, and fast.
No sooner had Jamie’s call ended than several uniformed officers appeared at the door.
“Mr. Mcdaniel, we’ve received reports of substandard product inspections and allegations of murder. We’re here to take you into custody,” one of the officers announced solemnly.
“Emory!” Heath furrowed his brow as he recognized the man in his forties.
Emory nodded curtly at Heath before gesturing impassively. “Take him away.”
The officers behind him moved forward. Heath’s face drained of color as he held up a hand to stop them. “What do you think you’re doing?”
“Heath, I believe I’ve made myself perfectly clear. Any further questions can be addressed at the station,” Emory replied coldly.
Realizing Emory wasn’t joking, Heath stood up from his chair. “Let me make a phone call.”
He couldn’t believe anyone would dare to arrest him at his own company. Who did they think he was? He was Heath, CEO of the Sunny Group. His connections, wealth, and status were unparalleled in Hiphia. How could anyone possibly bring him down?
He dialed a high-ranking contact in Hiphia, but the call was immediately disconnected.
His face fell. Could it be… could someone be orchestrating his downfall?
And not just anyone – someone with immense power!
The timing was too perfect; the authorities arrived just as the company crisis. This had to be a carefully orchestrated plan.
He tried several more numbers, but each call was cut off as soon as it connected.
Next, he dialed a few “old friends,” but the result was the same – instant disconnection.
“Heath, I advise you to stop struggling. This order comes from the top. Even if you had superhuman abilities, you couldn’t escape this fate. You have only yourself to blame for provoking someone you shouldn’t have,” Emory continued coldly.
“Wait!” Heath’s heart raced. “Are you saying… I angered someone I shouldn’t have?”
“Yes. The person who’s been protecting you all this time asked me to relay this message to you.” Emory, tired of explanations, ordered his men to take Heath away.
Heath’s composure crumbled entirely. He deflated like a punctured balloon.
In truth, this was all Kayden’s doing. After restoring the Adams Group’s system, he quickly pinpointed the Sunny Group’s location. With just one message, he could erase the Sunny Group from existence.
For Kayden, destroying a corporation was as simple as uttering a single sentence.
Heath could only blame his rotten luck for offending Kayden, a powerful figure far beyond his league. Upon receiving this news, all of Heath’s backers chose to remain silent. This was not someone they dared to cross.
