Chapter 61: Georgia Is Angry!

Alright! It must have been that he was mistaken for trying to look at Lacey’s chest when Kayden wanted to look at the pendant.
Kayden simply walked into the room; the door was left open on purpose by Georgia. After he entered, he casually closed the door and was about to walk over when Georgia, sitting on the bed, sternly ordered, “Stop! Don’t come any closer.”
Seeing Georgia’s serious expression, Kayden had no choice but to stop in his tracks. He stood at the door like a child who had done something wrong.
In this world, only Georgia had the power to stop Kayden in his tracks, and he obediently did so. Others had tried before, but it was only when someone had threatened Kayden with explosives, intending to take him down with them. In the end, that person died.
“I want to know, where did you just go?” Georgia didn’t look at Kayden; instead, she stared straight ahead with an angry face, making sure Kayden saw her anger.
Kayden hesitated for a moment before saying, “Lacey Bennett asked me to appraise the age of a jade stone.”
“Who is Lacey Bennett?” Georgia’s gaze shifted to Kayden’s face as she asked.
Kayden stared at Georgia’s face. This woman was so perfect; even when she was angry, she still looked flawless. In fact, Georgia wasn’t any less beautiful than Wood Faulkner, and in some ways, she was even more so, with more delicate features.
As for temperament, it was a matter of taste.
Georgia had been protected and pampered from a young age. She had also been through a lot in the past three years, which added to her maturity and steadiness.
Wood, on the other hand, exuded a cold, regal aura, the pride of someone who had been on the battlefield.
In short, Wood had been on the battlefield and killed people; no pampered woman could match her heroic spirit.
Seeing Kayden’s silly smile instead of answering her question, Georgia snapped, asking, “What are you looking at?”
Without thinking, Kayden replied, “You. I suddenly realized that you are quite pretty when you are angry.”
“You…” Georgia was at a loss for words. Was this really something Kayden would say? Ever since he regained his memory, he had never spoken like this. Was the Kayden from before just a facade?
Georgia had always thought of Kayden as a principled man-cold, aloof, serious, and a bit boastful. She never expected him to say something like that, which confirmed her suspicion that Kayden was just a scoundrel who was good at deceiving girls.
“Ugh!” Georgia said, “I’m interrogating you! I’m not falling for your sweet talk!”
Kayden sighed and said, “Alright!”
He had really only said that because he thought Georgia was beautiful at that moment. Sitting under the light, with the room’s yellow chandelier shining on her, from Kayden’s angle, Georgia’s jawline was particularly perfect, which was what prompted his words.
“Lacey is the woman who helped you appraise the Double Phoenix Plays with Dragon Pearl at your classmate’s wedding. Since she helped you before, I couldn’t refuse her when she came to ask for help, right?”
Georgia had to admit that Kayden had a point. As far as she knew, this was only the second time Kayden had met Lacey.
“Do you know about antiques?”
Kayden nodded slightly, then shook his head, saying, “To be precise, I don’t know much, but for some reason, I can tell just by looking at them. Maybe it’s due to the energy within me! It might just be a talent!”
Georgia rolled her eyes and said to Kayden, “Kayden, I did not know that besides loving to brag, you also like to boast about yourself!”
Kayden was speechless, but he had said all he could. He really didn’t know how to please Georgia.
Kayden was not good at pleasing others; for him, killing was more straightforward-anyone who disobeyed him would be killed.
Because he had been involved in so much killing, he never considered whether Georgia could understand his way of thinking. Georgia had never seen war and lived in a time of peace. If you told her there were still wars happening, she would not believe it, because she had never experienced it. How could she believe there were still wars going on in this day and age?
“Forget it!” Georgia’s expression changed slightly, and then she said, “I don’t want to dwell on that. I want to know what’s going on between you and Sariah Faulkner. Why would she be interested in you and ask you to meet her at the Fcon Hotel?”
This was the biggest issue in Georgia’s heart! Sariah was too beautiful, too stunning. Standing in front of her, Georgia could clearly feel a sense of hostility. The most important thing was that Sariah had invited Kayden to a hotel, which made Georgia feel a bit of crisis and jealousy.
Kayden sighed deeply and said with some emotion, “Actually, I came back to talk to you about that. Sariah was one of my subordinates. After I lost my memory, she and a few others searched for me everywhere. I don’t know what they went through, but now she doesn’t even recognize me. So, I plan to go there tonight to find out what’s going on.”
Georgia stared at Kayden’s serious expression, feeling a surge of anger. This was probably the worst excuse she had ever heard in her life. She blinked her eyes, feeling somewhat drained, and said, “Kayden, can you be more reliable when you talk? Last time you said Fletcher was your subordinate, and now you’re saying Sariah is too. So, in a few days, when you meet another beautiful woman, is she also going to be your subordinate?”
Kayden shook his head firmly and said, “No, Wood is the only woman among my subordinates.”
“Hah!” Georgia laughed coldly, then placed her hands on her thighs and added, “Soon, there will be a second, a third, and a fourth.”
Kayden frowned and asked, “Georgia, what do you mean by that? Do you really not trust me? I can deceive anyone in this world, but I have never lied to you, not even once.”
Georgia looked at Kayden with a blank expression and asked, “So you’re going to meet her tonight?”
Kayden nodded slightly and said, “Yes, but I’ll be back soon.”
Georgia withdrew her gaze, staring straight ahead, and said, “Then go ahead! But don’t come back once you leave.”
Kayden could tell Georgia was angry, but he still resolutely said, “Whether you believe me or not, she really is my subordinate. I need to find out what happened to her, so I have to go.”
With that, Kayden opened the door and left without looking back.
Georgia hadn’t even had time to react before Kayden had already closed the door.
“You…” Georgia, furious, grabbed a book and hurled it at the door.
But Kayden was already gone!
