They went into the restaurant, but didn’t find Kayden there.
When Kayden got to the restaurant, he suddenly remembered that Georgia said that she was going to a classmate’s wedding that day. Nowadays, these weddings had completely turned into competitions of status. Georgia had been to several weddings like this before, and every time she would complain about how people showed off in front of her, but she also admitted to envying them.
Everyone wanted to be the most dazzling one, and Georgia was no exception.
This would be Kayden’s first time attending such a gathering with Georgia, and also the first time that he would appear at such an event as an ordinary person. So he decided to head to Jewellery Street. To show a person’s status, jewelry and accessories were very important beside clothes.
Georgia had been living very humbly these years. She didn’t even have any ordinary accessories, let alone gold or silver ones. Besides work, she had nothing else, becoming almost a working machine for her company. All women would want to be beautify, and Georgia was no exception.
With this in mind, Kayden went to Jewellery Street. He walked around a bit and realized that the jewelry here was too ordinary. Most of it was either gold, diamonds, or common gemstones, which did not suit Georgia’s status at all. Georgia was Kayden’s wife, the wife of the King of Seclela. How could any ordinary jewelry be worthy of such a distinguished identity.
Eventually, he went to Treasure Jewelry Store, the most upscale jewelry store in Hiphia. This store was targeted at high-end clients, ordinary people were not even qualified to come here.
It was mostly because of the incredibly expensive items in there, and most people could not afford them, with the cheapest piece costing around 800, 000. Most people wouldn’t even dare to look around in here.
Kayden sized the store up as soon as he got to the door. It seemed ordinary, but he had no other choice. This was the only place that could have something worthy of Georgia’s status. With that in mind, he walked inside.
As he reached the door, a female staff member dressed in professional business suits stopped him with one hand, and said, “Hey! What are you doing here? Did you come to the wrong place?”
The woman examined Kayden’s clothes-a worn-out plaid shirt that cost at most 30 dollars, a pair of faded jeans that were probably 30 dollars as well and had been worn for many years, and a pair of canvas shoes. It was clear that he was not someone of wealth.
Kayden looked up at her and said, “I’m here to buy something.”
“Pfft!” The woman crossed her arms, all condescending, and said, “Oh, I see, you don’t really know what this place is like. This store isn’t for everyone. Let me tell you something, turn left outside, there are cheaper accessories over there. This place isn’t for you.”
Undoubtedly, this staff member was quite haughty. But Kayden wasn’t bothered by some sales person’s words. He just walked straight into the store, but before he could get inside, the staff member stopped him again, shouting, “Hey, don’t you understand English? I told you, if you want to buy something, turn left outside. You can’t afford anything here.”
“Get lost!” Kayden pushed the staff member aside, and she fell to the ground.
This caused quite a commotion among the staff, and many staff members and customers came over to see what was happening. The staff member on the ground pointed at Kayden and said, “This lunatic attacked me.”
A man who looked like the manager walked over and said, “How dare you hit someone! Who are you? Do you know whose store this is? This is Mr. Jerome Stevens’ store.”
“I know him!” Suddenly, one of the customers said, “Isn’t he the foolish son-in-law from the Adams family?”
The one that spoke was a woman, she was wearing a tight black chiffon dress and had long, wavy hair, looking very elegant. She was Presley Bell, from Hiphia’s third most prominent family, and she was also Georgia’s high school classmate.
Presley and Georgia had both been one of the four beauties in high school, but Georgia had always overshadowed the other three in terms of facial features. Despite Presley’s wealthy family, she couldn’t match Georgia’s beauty, and that was the fact.
So Presley had always been envious of Georgia, especially when someone she liked had pursued Georgia instead in high school, which made her hate and envy Georgia even more. When she learned that Georgia had married a fool, she took every opportunity to mock her.
“Fool?” The manager turned to Presley and asked, “Bell, are you sure this is that fool?”
Presley nodded and said, “Of course. Do you think I could be wrong? Besides, if he weren’t a fool, if he were normal, would he come to Treasure Jewelry Store?”
The manager nodded slightly and said, “Miss Bell is right.”
“Damn!” The manager turned back to Kayden and said angrily, “So you’re that fool form the Adams family!”
“Damn it, security, throw this fool out!” The manager yelled at the door.
Two salesmen whispered among themselves, “So he’s just a fool!”
“It’s so funny! Does he think he can just waltz into the Treasure Jewelry Store whenever he wants?”
Soon, two security guards walked in. But just as they were about to escort Kayden out, an authoritative voice suddenly shouted from inside the store, “Stop!”
An elderly man in his sixties or seventies, leaning on a cane, walked towards them. He was dressed in traditional clothes and was carrying a dragon cane, looking naturally dominant.
He was Jerome Stevens, the owner of Treasure Jewelry Store. His status and wealth were quite well-known in Hiphia. With assets worth billions, although he had been somewhat reclusive these years, his influence and position in the jewelry world remained solid.
“Mr. Stevens!” Upon seeing the old man, the manager immediately bowed respectfully.
And then he said, “This guy is causing trouble in our store. I will throw him out right away!”
“Yeah, Mr. Stevens, I can vouch for it! He’s the Adams family’s live-in son-in-law, just a fool.” Presley added.
“Oh?” Jerome frowned and turned his gaze at Kayden, examining him closely. Suddenly, his eyes went wide from shock.
Thud! Jerome suddenly dropped to his knees.
