Kayden’s face was filled with disdain. Such a low status could hardly impress him.
Seeing Kayden’s contemptuous expression, Coleman snorted and said, “What, do you think the martial arts of Seclela are just circus tricks? I can see your disdain. Come on, let me see what kind of skills you have to look at me this disdainfully.”
With that, Coleman took a combat stance.
Kayden looked at Coleman and shook his head, saying, “Sorry, I don’t have time to fight with you.”
And then, he turned and walked straight towards the restaurant. But after just a few steps, he heard the young woman’s sharp voice. “I think, you’re just afraid of getting beaten up by my grandpa!”
Such provocations didn’t affect Kayden at all. How could he be angry at the words of a little girl? If he were to get angry over the words of a young girl, he wouldn’t deserve to be Seclela’s Defender of the South.
Seeing Kayden’s indifference, Coleman clenched his fists, took a horse stance, and shouted, “Kid, take this!”
With that, he charged at Kayden, throwing a powerful punch. Strangely, just as his fist was about to hit Kayden, it felt as if there was a wall behind Kayden. There was a loud thud as his fist and entire body was threw into this invisible wall, and then bounced back.
The impact caused Coleman to fly backward, landing hard on the ground. Seeing this, Erika let out a cry and rushed over to hold Coleman, shouting, “Grandpa, Grandpa, are you okay? Are you okay?”
Coleman coughed a bit and struggled to say, “I’m fine, I’m fine.”
But blood spurted from his mouth as soon as he finished the sentence, and then he collapsed, losing consciousness.
“Grandpa, Grandpa!” Erika cried out anxiously.
With Erika’s cries, the park was soon filled with onlookers. People pointed at Coleman lying on the ground and whispered among themselves, and whispered some more while pointing at Kayden, who had his back turned to them.
Kayden looked back carelessly. Seeing the blood at the corner of Coleman’s mouth, his brows puckered. He had used only a bit of his force, yet Coleman had fallen. This didn’t make sense.
But Coleman didn’t seem like he was faking it either. So, Kayden walked over to him.
Just them, Erika glared at Kayden and shouted, “You bastard, you dare to hurt my grandpa! Do you know who he is? He’s Coleman Vincent, the head of the second most prominent family in Hiphia.”
“Oh! It’s Old Mr. Vincent. No wonder he seemed familiar. People do look different from when you see them on TV than in real life,” someone in the crowd said.
“What happened just now? How did Old Mr. Vincent end up on the ground?”
“Isn’t it obvious? This man must be bullying an old man just because he’s young.”
“How ignorant! Bullying old Mr. Vincent is like asking for trouble. Now, he definitely won’t get away with it.”
“Yeah, old Mr. Vincent won’t let this young man off easily.”
The crowd murmured and pointed at Kayden.
Kayden simply ignored them and crouched down beside Coleman. Erika looked at Kayden with tears in her eyes and asked, “What are you doing?”
Kayden didn’t reply. He just reached out and grabbed Coleman’s hand, placing two fingers on his wrist. This gesture was familiar. He was taking Coleman’s pulse to see how he was doing. It was a common ancient method. Some still practiced today, but it was often seen as fraud.
“Hey!” Erika slapped Kayden’s hand away and yelled, “What are you doing? You just injured my grandpa and now you’re pretending to be helpful. Do you think I’ll believe you?”
Kayden shook his head slightly, looking straight at Erika. “I’m saving your grandpa. If you keep interrupting, he could die at any moment. If you want him to die, I’ll leave right now.”
With that, he grabbed Coleman’s wrist again. Erika didn’t dare to say anything more. Somehow she could tell that something’s different from the look in his eyes.
About thirty seconds later, Kayden released Coleman’s wrist, then took out a small, antique-looking medicine bottle from his pocket. The bottle had a narrow neck and a wider base. He poured out two black pills, put the bottle away, opened Coleman’s mouth with one hand and put one pill inside.
Seeing this, Erika panicked and shouted, “What did you give my grandpa?”
Kayden looked at her and said, “Something that can save your grandpa’s life. He’s lucky to have met me. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have lived for more than two months.”
He then handed the second black pill to Erika and said, “Make sure he takes another one tonight. It will heal his old injuries.”
Without waiting for Erika’s response, Kayden stood up and walked towards the restaurant.
“Hey, why should I believe you?” Erika asked with a puzzled face.
Kayden didn’t look back and said, “In five minutes, your grandpa will wake up. Ask him then.”
Soon, Kayden disappeared into the restaurant. Erika stared at the restaurant’s door, thinking that he couldn’t get away anyway.
Five minutes later, Coleman suddenly took a deep breath, followed by more violent coughs.
As he coughed, another mouthful of blood came out, but this time the color of the blood was black.
Then, Coleman opened his eyes. Seeing this, Erika cried out in delight, “Grandpa, Grandpa, you’re awake! You’re awake!”
Coleman made a sound, and Erika asked at once, “Are you okay? Grandpa, how do you feel now?”
Coleman straightened himself and sat up. After taking a few deep breaths, he asked, confused, “What’s going on? My body feels so much lighter.”
He tried to circulate the energy flow in his body and found that he felt much better than before.
“Erika, what happened just now?” Coleman asked, still confused.
Erika explained what Kayden had done and handed the black pill to Coleman, saying, “Grandpa, that guy said you should take this pill later tonight, and then your old injuries will heal.”
Coleman took the black pill, smelled it, and then licked it with his tongue. Suddenly, his eyes widened in shock as he yelled, “Rebirth Pill, it’s the long-lost Rebirth Pill! My heavens, we’ve met a miracle-working doctor! Erika, quickly, where is he? We must go and thank him immediately.”
