Upon hearing Jamie’s remarks, Layla and some others chimed in, stirring the pot, “Exactly. If she takes over this contract in the future, she will step over Grandma. If you ask me, we shouldn’t let her manage the contract.”
“Yeah! There are so many capable people in our family. I think Jamie would be great for it. How about we let Jamie handle the follow-up of this contract? Grandma, it’s a good opportunity for Jamie to gain some experience.”
“Yeah, I also think Jamie would be quite suitable. At least he won’t be as ungrateful as Georgia.”
Hearing these opinions, old Mrs. Adams asked, “Do all of you think so?”
She really wanted to assign the project to Jamie, her most beloved grandson. Even though he didn’t sign it, if he could manage it well, it would naturally become his project in the future.
With this in mind, she snorted and said, “Then we’ll temporarily give this contract to Jamie to manage. Georgia can take over the contract when she divorces that fool.”
Ultimately, she still hoped Georgia would marry Tony, which would give the Adams family a chance to leap into the high society.
Meanwhile, Georgia had returned home. She hadn’t spoken a word to Kayden on the way home, but once they arrived, it suddenly became clear to her why Kayden had done it. She was Kayden’s wife. Seeing a prominent man like Tony proposing to her would naturally prompt him to take some action. Thus, he had come up with such a method.
She had to admit, for a moment, Georgia was really stunned by Kayden’s imposing manner. How she wished that it wasn’t a show with paid actors but something real, so her three years of waiting would have been worth it. She had been ridiculed and crushed for too long, so deep down she yearned for the day to turn things around.
“Kayden!” Georgia shook off Kayden’s hand and said coldly, “I know you wanted to make a statement in front of everyone, to change their opinion of you. But I don’t want you to be such an unrealistic fraud. I just want you to be the real you. I don’t like Tony, and I won’t be with him. You didn’t need to hire a group of people to put on a play. Do you know how embarrassed I felt when your lie was exposed?”
Kayden had no idea what to say. He had revealed his true identity openly, but she didn’t believe him. But he decided not to explain further, as he thought it would be useless, just like the last time.
Seeing Kayden, who was like a child after being scolded, Georgia couldn’t help but felt a pang of sympathy. After all, Kayden’s actions were just an attempt to prove he was better than Tony. He was only envious of him.
“I’m sorry!” Georgia suddenly apologized to Kayden.
Hearing these words, Kayden looked up in surprise. Georgia was staring at his face and asked, “Does your chest still hurt?”
“It’s fine,” Kayden replied coldly. Actually ha had already forgotten that ha had been punched earlier.
“I was a bit impulsive earlier, sorry.” Georgia apologized again.
Kayden shook his head and said, “Really, I’m fine!”
“By the way, if you’re free tomorrow night, would you come with me to a wedding? A high school classmate of mine is getting married,” Georgia suddenly said.
Kayden was taken aback. This was the first time that Georgia had invited him to such an event. Of course, because of his memory loss and foolish behavior, it wouldn’t have been appropriate to bring him to such gatherings before.
“But!” Georgia still reminded him cautiously, “You must not speak out of turn. If you really want to speak, I hope you won’t brag about yourself. If you do something like today again, I won’t take you out anymore in the future.”
“Alright.” Kayden nodded slightly. But what he really wanted to say was that everything he did and said today was the truth.
The next morning, Kayden went to the Hiphia Wetland Park. This park was designed for elderly activities, and many seniors were jogging this early in the morning. Besides the joggers, some were fishing there.
Kayden would go to a restaurant in the park everyday for a break. Located in the best spot in Hiphia, the restaurant enjoyed both the breeze and the water. The name of the restaurant was Hiphia Tippy Restaurant. And the business was very good, everyday there would be quite some people to go and dine there.
Aside from the prime location, the tea was also very good. Hiphia was renowned for its black tea. Fresh tea leaves had a bittersweet taste with a light, lingering sweetness, whereas aged black tea had a unique flavour that words couldn’t fully describe. Tea drinkers would always ask for a pot of the finest Hiphia black tea there.
As Kayden was walking up to the restaurant, he saw an old man practicing Tai Chi with a young woman in her early twenties by his side. The young woman was quite pretty, with fair skin and a silver bracelet on her wrist. It was easy to tell she was from a wealthy family from her delicate and flawless skin. She was mimicking the old man’s movements while chatting with him.
The young woman asked the old man, “Grandpa, is Tai Chi really as great as you say? It seems so weak and doesn’t require any strength at all! I doubt people will even feel it if you use it on them, let alone hurt them.”
“Haha!” The old man laughed, “Of course. Tai Chi is a martial art that combines both gentleness and strength. There were many Tai Chi masters in ancient times. So, don’t underestimate our traditional martial arts. You know, Seclela has a long history, and there are masters around.”
“Hmph!” Kayden couldn’t help but sneer upon hearing this.
The old man heard the sneer and quickly looked up to Kayden, and said in a stern voice, “Stop!”
Kayden halted and asked, “Are you speaking to me?”
“Yes!” The old man’s voice was powerful and somewhat overbearing.
“What were you laughing at just now? Do you doubt the martial arts of Seclela?” The old man questioned aggressively, as if interrogating a criminal.
Kayden shrugged and was just about to speak when the young woman said, “Do you know who my Grandpa is? He is the head of the second most prominent family in Hiphia, Coleman Vincent, and the chairman of the Southwest Tai Chi Association.”
