The room fell silent as everyone stared at Jamie, who continued with his self-righteous analysis, “You don’t really believe that this fool has regained his memory and become this so-called Defender of the South, do you? What kind of nonsense is this? Are people still fighting wars in this day and age? And the most unrealistic part is the claim that 800, 000 soldiers are supposed to be invading our country. Does it really take so many people to fight a war now? Just firing a couple of missiles would solve the problem. Is there really any need to go through all this trouble and fight with actual soldiers?”
“In my opinion, this guy just got carried away while watching TV and was too intimidated by Mr. Scott today that he decided to hire a group of actors to put on this show. See? The show is already over and the actors have left. But I have to admire this fool for coming up with such a spectacle to make himself stand out.”
Jamie’s remarks provoked a lot of ridicule. Everyone laughed, and the tense atmosphere instantly dissipated.
Three years, for three years Kayden had been seen as a fool and a subject of everyone’s jokes. So no one would believe that what had just happened was real. Jamie was right. It was all staged to make himself feel important.
“But seriously, this fool has actually become smart all of a sudden! He even thought of hiring actors to put on this play!”
“Those actors were quite good. If Jamie hadn’t pointed it out, I would have really thought it was real!”
“Hahaha, this fool, calling himself the Defender of the South of Seclela? How hilarious! Never heard of such a title. It’ll be more incredible if he’s called General.”
They demeaned Kayden to a completely useless man, turning the belief that the earlier scene was a staged performance by Kayden himself into an actual fact. But in reality, Kayden himself didn’t know that they would come, and he himself was confused when they arrived.
“Scarlett, your son-in-law is really something, pulling off such a stunt on such a joyful occasion. I almost really thought that you had become a real big shot’s mother-in-law,” Jamie’s mother said with a face full of sarcasm.
Scarlett’s cheeks twitched with embarrassment, and she was at a loss for words. Kayden had really made a fool of himself in front of everyone with such foolish tricks.
She turned her gaze to Kayden, with burning sparks almost coming out of her eyes.
Tony sneered coldly. The earlier scene had genuinely scared him. He knew that this guy couldn’t have been this powerful. It turned out that he had just watched too much TV and was hiring actors to play along with him, just like in the TV shows.
So he said to Kayden, “So, that’s why, despite my long service in the military, I’ve never heard of this Defender of the South. How could such a title just appear out of nowhere? I almost thought I was the one who was ignorant.”
Kayden scanned the ignorant faces around him without turning a hair and said to Tony, “With your rank and status, you’re not qualified to know such matters, of course.”
“Scoundrel!” Old Mrs. Adams, seeing that everyone was in agreement, stomped her feet in anger. She had thought the earlier scene was real and did not expect this fool to pull such shameless tricks. She shouted at Kayden, her eyes bloodshot with rage, “Get out! The Adams family doesn’t want a disgrace like you. Get out of here immediately!”
Kayden looked over to old Mrs. Adams, ready to retort. But before he could, Georgia suddenly shouted, “Enough!”
Her roar made everyone shut their mouths, and they all looked at Georgia with confusion.
Georgia walked up to Kayden and said, “C’mon, let’s go home!”
She couldn’t bear to stay here any longer, which would only make her a laughingstock.
She had hoped that Kayden would be better after regaining his memory, and that she wouldn’t have to take care of him so much. She didn’t expect that instead, he would do something so ridiculous after regaining his memory, making her not only more exhausted, but also extremely embarrassed. Suddenly, Georgia felt like she was about to lose it again, and she couldn’t understand how her grandfather could have asked her to marry such a person.
Kayden didn’t move. Instead, he asked seriously, “Georgia, do you also think those people were actors that I hired? Let me be honest with you, that is my true identity. The reason I came to your family is because I lost my memory. The people you just saw are all my subordinates. Even if you want this country, I could give it to you with just a wave of my hand.”
“Hahaha!” Jamie and the others laughed so loudly that they sounded like pigs. He pointed at Kayden and said, “This fool is making me laugh too much! They have left, and you’re still acting! Keep it up, and someday there will be a spot for you at the Oscars. Looks like I can’t call you a fool anymore. I’ll have to call you the Best Actor from now on! Hahaha.”
Georgia was so embarrassed she wanted to find a hole to hide in, but Kayden still looked as if he was telling the truth.
Smack! Suddenly, Georgia, enraged, punched Kayden in the chest.
Then she grabbed Kayden’s hand and said, “Let’s go home!”
And then she left the hotel, pulling Kayden’s hand.
Georgia was probably the only person in the world whom Kayden would let live after hitting him.
They only reached the parking lot when old Mrs. Adams shouted, “Stop!”
They stopped, and old Mrs. Adams said, “Kayden can leave, but you can’t! Today, you must get engaged to Mr. Scott. This celebration banquet was held for you after all.”
Georgia looked at old Mrs. Adams and said ever so firmly, “I won’t get engaged! I also won’t let Kayden leave on his own.”
With that, she walked away from the hotel without looking back.
Not long after she left, Tony also said his goodbyes and left. For Tony, the most important thing now was not the engagement but figuring out why he had been removed from the military district.
Seeing her daughter had already left and that the fool had made such a shameful scene, Scarlett knew that staying here any longer would only bring her more ridicule. So, she quietly left the hotel as well.
Seeing many people leaving, Jamie seized the opportunity to say, “See, Georgia is getting more and more impolite. This celebration banquet was held for her, and she just left like that, showing no respect for Grandma at all. Does she think that by signing a contract, she can step over Grandma? Grandma is the one in charge of the family! How much more arrogant would she be if she takes over the cooperation in the future!”
