Jerome’s mouth was wide open from disbelief, wide enough to fit an egg in it. And his eyes were so bulging that they seemed about to pop out. This face! It was a face that he could never forget. He would remember this face for the rest of his life.
“My savior, my savior, it’s really you, it’s really you!” Jerome’s aged face began to stream with tears.
His wrinkled hands clutched at Kayden’s jeans, his face all tearful.
Everyone was stunned seeing this dramatic scene, they all stared at Jerome with their mouths open.
Jerome, a billionaire tycoon in Hiphia, was someone to whom not only the jewelry industry but the entire business community would show respect. Even the most prominent families in the city would not dare to disrespect him even a bit. Yet now, this powerful man was on his knees before the Adams family’s fool of a son-in-law, crying and calling him his savior.
In contrast, Kayden maintained a haughty demeanour, seemingly unfazed by Jerome’s kneeling down.
This scene completely shocked everyone, but no one dared to speak out. Only Presley, who was a customer, mustered up the courage to say, “Mr. Stevens, are you sure? This man is the Adams’s family’s foolish son-in-law. I know him.”
“Get out!” Jerome’s face turned dark with anger as he shouted at Presley, “Who do you think you are to offend my savior?”
“I… I…” Presley stammered, “I am the granddaughter of Keaton Bell.”
Jerome’s face twitched, he pointed angrily towards the door and shouted, “So what? Get out now!”
‘So what if she is Keaton Bell’s granddaughter? If Keaton Bell offends this godlike man today, he’ll be shown the door as well.’ Jerome thought.
Presley glanced at Kayden, her confusion mixed with fear, and then quickly ran out.
Jerome, with a guilty expression, said, “Mr. Scott, I didn’t know that you came. My subordinates were blind. Please don’t blame me for it.”
Kayden looked down at Jerome, who was still on his knees, and said lightly, “Alright, get up. I just came here to buy something for my wife.”
“Yes, of course,” Jerome immediately stood up, pointing to the other side of the store. “Mr. Scott, please follow me. The trash over here won’t match your status.”
Trash? He referred to the the stuff in his own store as trash? The items here started at 800, 000 and some even cost over 10 million. Even something that worth more than 10 million was still below this fool? The situation was indeed twisted.
Kayden remained silent and followed Jerome to where he had pointed.
Jerome glared at the manager and the staff member, huffed and then yelled, “You blind fools, you two are fired. Starting tomorrow, I don’t ever want to see you again in Hiphia.”
And then he followed Kayden respectfully.
Kayden looked Jerome up and down again. He still didn’t recognize him, so Kayden asked, “Who are you? How do you know me?”
Jerome wasn’t surprised. It was normal for someone like Kayden not to know him, especially since many years had passed. Plus, things like this probably happened to Kayden every day. He explained, “I met you once six years ago on the southern border. My friends and I were just returning from doing business overseas and had encountered a group of vicious criminals, who were killing anyone they saw. They killed all the people on my boat.”
“I was so scared. I thought I was going to die. But then you showed up. And it was your appearance that scared them away. Some of them even killed themselves when they heard your name. I still can’t forget that scene. It was unbelievable. I never expected to see you again.”
Even though he didn’t know what position Kayden held, but the memory of that day made him forever remember this face. This was why he immediately recognized Kayden today.
“Haha!” Kayden gave a cold smile and said, “I see.”
Even his smile concealed a murderous intent!
“By the way, Mr. Scott, you mentioned you were buying something for someone. I got so excited that I forgot for whom,” Jerome said, scratching his head awkwardly, smiling like a child who had done something wrong.
Kayden glanced around at the shelves that were filled with items worth over 30 million. There were top-tier diamonds, gemstones, and all kinds of rare antiques.
“I want to buy a pendant for my wife,” Kayden said calmly.
“Ah!” Jerome was a bit taken aback. “Mr. Scott, you’re really married to Georgia Adams?”
“Yes,” Kayden confirmed without any hesitation.
Seeing Jerome still dazed, he asked, “What? Is that a problem?”
Jerome shook his head vigorously, “No, no, it’s great, it’s wonderful.”
He walked up to an old box, carefully opened it, and took out a blood-red pearl pendant. He carefully held it out to Kayden and said, “Mr. Scott, I believe only this can match your wife’s status. It’s the most precious item in my store.”
Kayden took the pendant. The pearl in the centre was encased by jade, which was carved into lifelike phoenixes. There was something emitting a red glow inside the pearl. It was a red dragon, vividly lifelike as well. It was as if it was really alive, flying and breathing out smoke.
“This is called the Double Phoenix Plays with Dragon Pearl. It was used by ancient emperors!” Kayden murmured to himself.
Jerome gave a thumbs up and said, “Mr. Scott, you truly are knowledgeable. Indeed, this is the Double Phoenix Plays with Dragon Pearl, crafted by Kai Dawson for Queen Kayleigh Delacruz in the 7th century. There are only two in the world. One is in a foreign museum, auctioned for a sky-high price of 100 million some years ago. The other one is here with me. I don’t know how my ancestors got it, but it has been passed down in my family for generations. I have verified it countless times, and it’s definitely the only one. After all these years, it’s finally being given to your wife today. I think only she is worthy of this Double Phoenix Plays with Dragon Pearl.”
“Good! Then I’ll take it,” Kayden said, putting the pendant into his pocket.
