Bambi POV.
After my tantrum with the coffee mug, and me throwing the only mug we had in the house against the wall breaking it into a million pieces, now I had to deal with the consequences. I’m the only one in the house, and I’m the only adult here, there’s no mom to come take care of me, there are no trainers to clean things up after us, and there’s no Christopher to get me my coffee mug.
Instead, I had to clean it, who else would? The demons who live in the house with me? Or maybe the forest fairies would come in and clean with me, I think to myself with a chuckle, or no best one yet, I’ll sing to some animals to get them to come to clean it for me. I’m going insane so quickly, I haven’t been here for a full day and I’m talking to myself, I’m going crazy completely.
I got a rag and wet it with the freezing cold water before I started to wipe the coffee stains, they add to the house, and they blend right in with the shipped-off wallpapers.
Once I was done, I started to look again in the cupboard trying to find another mug for me, I still didn’t have my coffee, and I’ll die without it, so I decided to go and try my luck with Colin’s mother, maybe she’d be feeling nice enough to hand me an extra mug from hers. It’s cold inside and it’s also cold outside, I pulled the hoodie closer over my body and left the house, taking my keys with me, I could keep the door open and no one would come in, they know i got nothing valuable to be stolen, not even the orange shipped mug, the one my mother left, I broke the only thing my mother has left me.
I wiped my tear off my cheeks and knocked on her door, taking a deep breath, planting a fake smile on my face for her sake and mine. She took a couple of minutes before she came to the door, she opened it with her significant scold on her face, I never saw her smiling, not ever, not even now.
“Hey,” I say trying to sound friendly, she was never a big fan of mine.
“You’re back?” she says with disgust.
“Yeah, my term was over, I’m back for a while,” I say, assuring her I won’t be here for long, she doesn’t have to worry about me.
“Good, I hope we won’t be seeing any of your clients, you give the whole neighbourhood a bad reputation,” she says, the whole drug dealing, stealing, being the bottom of the food chain, and I’m the one who gives the neighbourhood a bad reputation!
“No… none of that,” I say, feeling the letters stuck in my throat this time, this was very humiliating, but anything for coffee.
“Then what do you want?” she asks me, seeing the very warm welcome, I decided to ask for my mug in another way.
“Colin said I can take his old mug, mine broke, and he said it’s fine, he paid for it by the way,” I assure her, I’m not taking anything of hers, I’m taking my friend’s old mug.
“Fine,” she sneers, slamming the door closed in my face, I stayed standing, too confused and shocked to move right now, but she came back with Colin’s old mug.
“Thank…” I start but the door was closed already, I moved back to my home and got a new cup of coffee ready, I ignored the stale burned taste of the coffee, but it was filled with caffeine, that’s all I needed this morning.
Most of the day passed with me just sitting under my blanket in my room, cuddling in the warmth, I had nothing to do, and no will to do anything until there was a knock on my door.
I walked down to the door but first passed by the kitchen, getting the biggest knife there is for protection.
“Who is it?” I ask out loud.
“It’s me, Bambi, Colin, open up,” I hear my friend’s voice answering me, I placed the knife back in it’s place and opened the door.
Although there’s nothing valuable in my house to steal, I need to stay safe, if they found nothing, they’ll just take me and sell me in pieces on the black market, one could never be too careful.
“Hey, Colin,” I say with a smile, seeing my friend, such a familiar face made me so happy and safe.
“Can we come in?” he asks me, alpha Thalia was with him.
“Of course,” I say allowing them in, we had to go to my room, it’s the only place we could sit and be comfortable.
“I’d offer you coffee but I only got one mug, it’s your old one Colin, hope you don’t mind,” I say telling him about the mug.
“It’s fine,” Colin assures me.
“We don’t need anything Bambi, we’re here to take you out for dinner, why don’t you get dressed,” alpha Thalia says, but that reminds me way too much of my old life, of my old job, and I left that part behind me.
“I’m sorry alpha, but I don’t want to go out,” I say with a smile getting the blanket and wrapping it around my shoulders, I’m good here.
“Are you sure,” the alpha asks me.
“Yes, no worries about me, I’m good here,” I assure her with a fake smile.
“Are you okay Bambi?” Colin asks me sounding worried.
“Yeah, I’m fine Colin, I’m back home,” I assure him.
“What… what happened with Christopher, I thought you two were a thing,” Colin asks in a very low voice, closer to a whisper, worried I’ll be mad at him.
“We were… just until the term ended,” I answer him, we were never anything permanent.
“Ohhh…” Colin says, while the alpha got busy with her phone, but then she turned back to me.
“You don’t have to stay here Bambi, you can stay in the company, or I can get you some other living arrangement,” the alpha offers.
“You don’t have to alpha, I’m okay,” I lie again, I wasn’t near being okay.
“The house is freezing cold, I doubt you have any food around here,” the alpha says with a raised brow.
“It’ll get warmer once I settle in, and I’ll go buy food once my payment goes through,” I answer her, she opened her purse and handed me a big amount of cash, it was bigger than any payment I received from my clients.
“You didn’t have a bank account, so we had to open one for you, this is some of your payment, the rest are in the bank,” she says handing me a credit card with my name on it.
“Thank you alpha,” I say, the money would get me food and coffee.
“Are you sure you’re okay Bambi?” the alpha asks me with care filling her voice.
“I’m okay, no worries,” I assure her.
