In a corner of another room, Liam was seated on a couch, his phone in his hand. He seemed invested in what he was doing on his phone, and he had a chessy look on his face.
“Liam, has he called you?” Brandon, one of Liam’s friends asked, curiously staring at Liam and his phone.
“Huh uh.” Liam hummed softly in response, still smiling at his phone.
“Wow! I am so jealous of you, you are very lucky,” Brandon replied playfully, his voice filled with sarcasm, and the two men laughed happily.
They continued their discussion, and Liam poured himself a glass of wine. While chatting on his phone, he kept slipping from his wine.
“Umm, you look invested in your phone, do you mind sharing the secret of your happiness with me?” Philious asked as he entered the room, looking at Liam with raised brows. The room was a bit quiet and a few people were seated.
“It’s nothing.” Liam replied coldly, still staring at his phone. He didn’t bother to look at Philious, and instead he took a slip from the wine, and continued pressing his phone, acting oblivious to Philious’s presence.
Philious cleared his throat, thinking he would gain Liam’s attention, but it was futile, Liam paid him no attention.
Brandon, and a few other of Liam’s friends found the atmosphere awkward, and they engaged in lame conversation with themselves, ignoring Liam and Philious.
“Are you taking alcohol?” Philious suddenly asked in alarm, and quickly dragged the glass of wine from Liam, unfortunately, the wine accidentally splashed on Liam’s phone.
This angered Liam and his eyes turned black. “What is the matter, bro?” He flared up, and stood up angrily. He looked at his phone, then at Philious, his eyes burning in fury.
Philious looked genuinely remorseful, and his eyes dropped, “I am so sorry, it was an accident.” he apologized with a sober voice, and sighed sadly.
“But still, you shouldn’t be drinking alcohol, it’s not good for your body,” he continued trying to justify his actions.
“It is not alcohol, it is red wine, and I am sure it has zero alcoholic substance! Brother Adriel doesn’t complain if he sees me drinking alcohol, so why are you bothering me?” Liam yelled at Philious, anger written all over his face.
His friends tried to secretly signal at him to keep quiet, but Liam ignored them.
“I am the one who tells Adriel what to drink, don’t disrespect me, little bro. I was genuinely concerned about your well-being, I didn’t mean to splash the glass of wine on you.” Philious said with a look of remorse on his face.
“Whatever!” Liam shrugged his shoulders, looking uninterested in their conversation. He cleaned his phone with his shirt, and sat down back on the couch.
Philious felt sad, and his head dropped. “I am serious, Liam. If you want, I can help you to get another phone.” He proposed with a gentle smile on his face, but Liam brushed him off.
“Don’t bother, I am good,” Liam replied, and focused his attention on his phone. Philious stood beside him, closely watching his every movement.
The person Liam was chatting with seemed to be a very jovial human because Liam kept smiling and giggling excitedly.
This annoyed Philious, and a look of jealousy settled on his face. He sat down beside Liam, and thought of different ways to start a friendly conversation.
“Humm, Liam, what are you doing on your phone? You look very busy,” Philious began the awkward conversation with a solemn voice, but Liam had zoned out of earth, and he didn’t hear a single word Philious said.
“When Michael said you called to report Logan, I was scared, and I couldn’t help but wonder if you were hurt. I was so worried throughout my journey here, but on seeing you safe and healthy, I felt grateful and relieved,” Philious continued with a grimace on his face, but on noticing that Liam was not paying attention to him, he cleared his throat, and playful dragged his phone from him.
“What exactly are you doing on your phone?” Philious asked with a frown on his face, and carefully looked at the phone screen.
The frown on his face quickly melted to a look of jealousy, and before he could react to what he saw on the phone, Liam collected his phone back.
“What is wrong with you, brother Philious?” Liam asked with a look of annoyance on his face.
“What is wrong with me?” Philious asked a rhetorical question and scoffed. “I should be the one asking you that question! How come I have been talking to you and you refused to reply to me?”
“Fine, I am fine. What else do you want to hear?” Liam asked angrily. They both looked at each other before Liam sighed softly. “I am in a bad mood today, and you splashed my glass of wine, I don’t want to be rude, but I will appreciate it if you can please leave me alone,” he whispered with a gentle voice, and Philious nodded in agreement.
“Huh, okay. But if this is because I hit you earlier, please forgive me. It’s just that Rachel is unaware that we are vampires, and we don’t want her to know yet,” Philious explained with an emotional voice. He looked at Liam and smiled gently. “I am so sorry if I’ve ruined your day.”
“Umm,” Liam hummed softly, then he stood up, bowed at Philious and left the room. Philious looked hurt, and his stern expression returned to his face once again.
Brandon kept looking at Philious, wondering what to do. He wanted to mind his business, but because of his little crush on Philious, he decided to intervene.
“Brother Philious, I don’t know if I am supposed to be talking to you right now, but you might be wondering why Liam is acting so spoiled. Well, it’s because his boyfriend broke up with him, and they’ve been dating for over five years.” He explained to Philious, and Philious was shocked.
