Third Person’s POV;
“It was all my fault! It all happened because of me!” Rose said in a low voice and a tear rolled down to her cheek.
“No” Elijah held her shoulders.
“I came to your life and made it a living hell. Your mother would never accept me and now, you also had a fight with her because of me. She will hate me now” she said, a small tear fell doan on her cheek.
“No, baby. Nothing like that is going to happen. I will talk to my mother tomorrow and everything will be alright” he said while wiping her tear.
“This wouldn’t have happened if I didn’t come to your life. I think I should leave” Her voice cracked when she spoke. She really didn’t have the courage to leave her. She didn’t know how but she loved him more than she should.
“Don’t ever say that! I can’t lose you” He said with his eyes speaking louder than words.
She could see the millions of emotions in his eyes.
“What will happen now?” she asked in a low voice.
“Do you trust me?” He asked, his eyes never leaving hers.
Rose nodded in reply. The words were not needed, the emotions in her eyes were speaking it all.
“Everything will be alright by tomorrow. Go back to bed” He said while gently caressing her cheek.
They turned around and saw Layla sleeping peacefully on Rose’s bed. She moved and took over the entire bed.
“I think you need to lift a little weight to sleep” he said chuckling.
Rose was still taken aback as how Layla continued sleeping during the entire fight. Does she not have werewolf heightened hearing ability at all? Even a normal person without supernatural power would wake up with so much noise.
Elijah seems to know what she was thinking as he grabbed her shoulder and made her face him once again.
“Don’t worry, this is completely normal” he said smiling.
“Huh?” Rose asked confusedly.
“Even attack on our pack won’t be able to wake Layla up from her sleep. She can sleep soundly at any time” Elijah replied with a chuckle.
Rose also giggled in reply.
“Just keep smiling like that and leave all your worry to me” Elijah smiled while looking deep in her eyes.
Rose looked away and her cheeks started to turn tomato red.
“Thank you”
“No need to thank me. You are my mate. Protecting you from everything is my responsibility now. Even from my inner animal” He voice was hoarse and his eyes fell on her lips.
“Um.. I..” Rose was unable to speak as Elijah’s eyes on her lips were distracting her.
Elijah’s hands moved from her shoulder to her cheeks in slow motion.
He cupped her face and caressed her cheeks gently. Rose knew what was happening. Rose’s entire body was on fire. She could feel a wave of excitement down her spine.
Her heart was racing against her chest and she knew Elijah could hear it clearly.
Elijah slowly moved his head down towards her.
Their lips were inches apart. Both of them closed their eyes. She could feel his warm breath on her mouth.
Just when Elijah was about to close the distance between them. Elijah’s mother’s voice echoed in her head ‘You are Mary Dawson’s daughter!’
Unknowingly, she retreated and took a step back.
Elijah’s eyes were wide open in shock.
“What happened?” He asked, flabbergasted.
“Nothing, I.. I am sorry..” Rose was embarrassed at her sudden retreatment.
“It’s okay. I understand” He smiled before taking a few steps away from her.
Even though he was smiling, deep down, he felt hurt.
Each step he took away from her was a straight dragger towards her heart.
“I.. I was ….” Rose tried to speak but Elijah cut her off.
“That’s alright. I would never force you to do something” Elijah replied, forcing a small smile.
Rose wanted to explain but couldn’t gather courage to do so. His mother’s harsh behavior with her was not letting her take a step towards Elijah.
Even though, he said ‘I understand’, he still wanted her to say ‘she didn’t mean it’ and ‘nothing has changed between them’ but when she said nothing for a while, he was heartbroken.
“It’s too late. We will talk tomorrow. Good night” he said in a polite tone and left without waiting for her reply.
Rose took a deep sigh.
“Good night” She said under her breath but Elijah heard it.
With heavy heart, Elijah entered his room.
He felt a familiar presence and scent around him as soon as he entered his room.
“What the hell are you doing here?” He asked while turning towards the living area and saw a familiar face.
There was a beautiful girl sitting on the sofa with a glass of wine in her delicate hand. She was pale and her golden wavy her were coming down to her waist. Her pale skin color was making her amber eyes pop up more.
“I heard that you found your mate but looks like she is not really interested in you” There was mockery in her voice.
“None of your concern and do I have to remind you again whom am I?” Elijah asked with a raised eyebrow.
The girl looked scared for a little while but she then composed herself again.
“No need, I can never forget you. I always beg to be with you” The girl said with eyes filled with lust and need.
She got up from her place and moved towards Elijah. She stood infront of him and tried to touch his face but Elijah grabbed her hand.
“Sofia, I always ignore your childish act because I respect Beta Samuel and Samuel is my friend, but if you try to come between me and my mate, I won’t ignore it this time” Elijah warned him.
Sofia knew Elijah never punishes her because of her family background. Hence, she always uses this reason to her advantage.
“But she is not even interested in you” Sofia argued.
“Who told you that?” Elijah asked in a stern voice.
“She took a step back when you tried to kiss her! She is living my dream but still so ungrateful!” Sofia groaned in annoyance.
“I am not discussing my personal matter with you” Elijah rolled his eyes.
“Why?” Sofia pouted.
“Because you are nothing to me” Elijah replied in a voice as cold as iceberg.
“Ouch! That hurt like a b*tch! You must have felt the same when she didn’t let you kiss her” Sofia mocked him with a smirk.
Elijah decided to ignore her and let go of her hand with a jerk
Sofia suddenly grabbed Elijah’s shoulders and tried to kiss him.
“Let me show you how a girl reacts when she wants you”
She used all the power she could muster to throw herself on him. She knew it was her last chance to seduce him. From the moment she came, she only heard how beautiful Elijah’s mate is and how he is head over heels for her. She couldn’t afford to lose this opportunity.
Elijah tried to push her away but he wasn’t too harsh as he didn’t want to hurt her because he was Stefan’s only sister, and Sofia and Elijah were once friends in their childhood.
“Sofia!” He growled angrily.
At this very moment, the door of Elijah’s room opened and the least expected walked in,
“ROSE!”
