Third Person’s POV;
“Elijah”
The moment she took his name, he felt his heart thudding against his chest. He was still in shock how she has such a profound effect on him.
His legs automatically started moving towards her.
On the other hand, Rose felt her cheek burning when his eyes were staring deep down in her soul. She looked down in embarrassment.
Elijah didn’t feel his mother’s intense gazes on him as he moved towards his mate. Now, he was standing right in front of Rose.
Rose lifted her head up and their eyes met again for the second time. Elijah’s hand moved towards her cheek like an automatic reaction.
Both of them were so lost in each other that they almost forget that they had company. Like it was just them in the entire mansion. ‘Just them’
He caressed her cheek gently with his thumb and Rose felt a wave of electricity passing through her entire body.
She wanted to jump in his arms and let him know how much she missed him and he wanted to the same, take her in his arms and forget about the entire world. But the world around them didn’t want the same as his mother cleared her throat and dragged them back to reality.
Both of them retreated in an instant and looked here and there.
“Behave” Luna Queen Phebe said while glaring at her son.
“Sorry” He looked down in embarrassment, there was a slight blush on his cheeks too.
“How dare you! How dare you lied to me! How dare you two hid things from me!” Luna Queen Phebe shouted in anger.
“I lied to you. She didn’t!” Elijah replied almost immediately.
“Stop taking her side. She lied to! She didn’t tell me about her mother either” Luna Queen Phebe pointed out.
“She didn’t know her mother was such a big deal here. I was the one who told Layla to keep things under control until I return. If you want to blame someone. Blame me, mom” Elijah said in a soft voice.
“I can’t believe my own son brought such a girl in my house…!” Luna Queen Phebe said while looking down on Rose.
Elijah stood between his mother and Rose before replying,
“Whatever happened with Father and Mary isn’t Rose’s fault. She was not even born yet! Stop looking down on my mate!”
Rose felt butterflies in her stomach when he defended her.
“You are taking sides again! You didn’t even mark her yet and still you are being a complete mate slave!” Luna Queen Phebe pointed gritted her teeth.
“I am not taking sides, mom. I am just…” Elijah tried to explain but his mother was not in the mood.
She pointed an accusing finger at him and shouted,
“You know what happened with me because of that wench! That b*tch ruined my entire…!!!”
“MOM!” Elijah raised his voice a little but it had a huge impact on his mother.
Suddenly, the temperature surrounding them dropped drastically and Rose started feeling cold.
‘What the hell?’ She thought and looked at Elijah, who was fuming with anger now.
She could feel a dark chilling aura surrounding him. She never felt such dominating aura ever. She felt like submitting to him then and there.
On the other hand, her mother was in shocked and denial. She looked like she wanted to speak but she was unable to.
‘Did he dominate her too?’ Rose thought confusedly.
Elijah closed his eyes and calmed himself before speaking,
“Enough is enough!”
“We will talk about it later. It’s too late” He said in a calm voice.
“You raised your voice!” was the only reply his mother gave him.
‘He didn’t raise his voice too much but it wasn’t his normal polite tone too’ Rose thought, while listening to their conversation silently.
“No, Mom. I didn’t mean to.. you know..” Elijah tried to explain himself but his mother shook her head.
Rose felt bad for being the reason for this.
“No. Looks like I don’t know my son at all” Luna Queen Phebe spoke in a stern voice but Rose could see the hurt in her eyes.
“Mom…” Elijah tried to speak but a cute familiar voice cut him off.
“What’s wrong? Why is everyone shouting?” Cora came out of Rose’s room while rubbing her eyes.
Her eyes were snapped open when it fell on her mother.
“Mom! What are you doing here at this hour?” She asked flabbergasted.
“What is with the sudden weather change?” She was scratching her head while asking.
All of a sudden, her eyes fell on her brother who was standing next to Rose.
“Bro, you are back. How is everything with Silver Moon pack?” She hugged her brother and asked.
“Everything is fine now. They are being departed here until we rebuilt their pack” He replied in a low voice while parting from Cora.
Cora could feel the tension in the surrounding.
“What’s wrong with the atmosphere here?” She asked in muddled tone and added,
“Why is mom here?”
“I needed some answer but your brother showed me my place” Her mother replied, she was on the verge of breaking out.
“What?” Cora asked confusedly
“No, mom. I just told you…” Elijah tried to take a step towards their mother but Luna Queen Phebe raised her hand and stopped him immediately.
“What just happened here?” Cora looked at everyone but nobody replied.
Rose didn’t say a single world during the entire family drama.
“Let’s go, Cora. I think we are not needed anymore” Luna Queen Phebe emotionally.
She grabbed her daughter’s hand and started dragging her away from the hallway.
“What?? But…Mom? Brother..!” Cora looked back at Elijah with a huge question mark on her face.
“Stay with mom” Elijah replied, giving her a knowing look.
Cora nodded in reply and stopped resisting her mother.
Hazel bowed deeply to Elijah and ran after Luna Queen Phebe.
Rose turned pale. She was looking at the ground. The guilt and regret consumed her.
“Rose” Elijah turned towards her and called her name politely.
“It was all my fault!”
