CHAPTER 53

Trees rose above and all around him in the quiet, dark night and all that crept through mind was a haunted feeling that crept through it again and again.
The moonlight was pouring in through the sky overhead as he took in the heavy scent of nature around him in a deep sigh.
From the sweet scent of lavender reminding him of Antonia hair to the feeling he had all blended together in one space.
He turned left, stopping at the glass window of his car and sighed.
Five minutes later he was out, he straightened, reaching up, grabbing a handful of hair, and
bringing it over his shoulders as he drove in that cold dark night.
Thinking back he couldn’t believe he had just agreed to whatever this was going to be, he was annoyed, yes he definitely was but he couldn’t blame Laura either.
By now he was certain Antonia was very worried, she had called in twice to check up on him and on both occasions he had told something important came up.
Could she have a hint about what was happening?
The thought of that left a feeling of fear in his heart that sank ever deeper, three heartbeat passes in quick succession as his phone beeped again with a notification from her.
Where are you, I am worried –
He mumbled the word’s feeling all numb at the moment as he walked away to the car, amidst all of the Madness that was happening at that moment was that not of fear in his heart that kept leaving a hint of animosity.
As he walked out he thought about how he was going to tell the news to Antonia, no woman in her right senses would want such news so he thought.
There would be no reason to show up at home right now looking this way so he thought her last words came back to his mind.
Flashback
One hour ago…
“What are we going to do? “She questioned.
He turned back and locked in gazes with her, he could see the cold stares In her eyes that infused more fear and animosity in him, both feeling clashes endlessly as they stood in eerily silence.
“What do you suggest we do, you have Rian to deal with and I am certain he wouldn’t want this.”
She Scoffed.”Rian has been acting somewhat confused lately, I love him but like they said this is about our , it is about the kids.”
He thought about it for a minute noting the sacrifices that had to be made.
Christian sighed deeply, his mind raced as he walked to and fro, at the last moment he stopped.
“I love Antonia, you don’t get it, I don’t want her getting hurt in any way.”
In some way the word hit somewhere deep in her heart but again she didn’t pay attention to it, she sighed deeply.
“We both have kids to think of, despite having people we love.”
Flashback ends***
They both had the kids to think she was right saying that. There was no reason for him to act that way by walking away, still he couldn’t put it out of his mind.
Pushing up the sleeves of his lightweight sweater, he changed his mind and turned the car home.
It felt useless to him fighting something that was inevitable, it occurred to him that it was best he dealt with the situation now that it Still mattered.
The car came to a halt without any warning and his gaze fell to the fuel gauge, he locked eyes with it for a minute and the fact that he had been absent minded the entire while not to notice.
With no other choice left he knew he had to find a way home and perhaps send a guard later, his heart pumped harder and harder as he jogged through the streets that was slowly devoured by darkness making way to his apartment.
. Heat flowed through his chest hair as he was approaching the apartment, and he didn’t know if it was fear or excitement, but he was ready.
Ready to leave it all behind. At least for a little while- ready to spill out the truth.
Moving past the lawn swiftly and walking toward the back door to the right, he bypassed the kitchens-that was awkwardly quiet-as he headed for the room at the side of the large house.
Opening the double doors that lead to heat room, he stepped into the massive room and found it empty, he felt confused.
Where was she?
Had she followed him?
Diverse thought crept through his mind enough that he instantly felt the rise in temperature. The thick, wet heat soaked through the fabric of his, making it melt to his body.
The door opened and he turned to see her walking through the door with a cup of tea, he is instantly filled with calm m
She shot up her eyebrows and immediately stopped, turning around to peer at him.
“Humm, finally you decided to return
“she eyed him with mock astonishment.
He thinned his lips, anxious and gullible.”Well, I didn’t know it would take a while since I texted.”
She broke out in a smile and leaned over the table, he attempted planting a quick kiss on his forehead.
“Well, I’m here,”he assured her.”We can get back to some important duties now.”
Not being able to get himself to think at that minute or get her involved in a conversation, he took the excuse of needing a cold bath.
“should they get your meals for you.”she called after him as he walked around the
corner.
Christian exhaled an aggravated sigh and powered down the dimly lit way to the bathroom, grumbling under his breath, “Thank
you, not quite hungry.”
He already had several things planned out in his mind about what he wanted to do. He could definitely pick out the best time to discuss this with her, but that time was not now.
She e wouldn’t look at him, he should be grateful that she hadn’t started up any further fight.
There in the bathroom he scrubbed every bit of evidence, from a light spatter of sand that covered his legs and feet, to the heavy scent where he had been..
Diving into his room-he spotted her still in a sexy, dark dress lying on the bed-
The thin straps did almost nothing to hold up her breasts, but it fit perfectly, molding to his mind.
“We have unfinished business.”
