Waking up to a bright day, he tossed and turned right there on the bed noticing her absence for the second time that morning, while one part of his mind was worried about where she was at that moment, another part was glad at the fact that she was herself again and doing things normally.
Earlier, he had walked into a room that was void of her though the heavy scent for her cologne made glaring the fact she had left not too long ago.
He had lain in his bed for what seem likean hour listening to the clock in the distance as he let in the cold air through his skin from the AC until a numbness spread through him.
Sitting there at the edge of the bed with heavy thoughts, he thought it was best he did something to rid himself of the feeling that was going through his mind at that moment.
There was no Antonia, no calls from Laura so it only made sense he did something to exploit that but of quite that was filling up the moment
At first he didn’t know what to do but as the minute trickled by, he walked away from the window where he had been for the past moment.
Just then his phone beeps, Christian was quick to pick it up-
“Are you fine, just called In to check on you.”Damien’s voice sounded over the phone.
“Yeah I am just getting up.”He muttered.
“No problem then, actually I called for a little favor.”
Christian rolled his eyes.”Shoot.”
“Well, I don’t know if I can get to one of your cars and chauffeur tonight-”
He was puzzled by the request.”And why would I grant such?”
He could hear Damien laugh sheepishly.”Alright then, I’d tell you.”
While he listened to his manager blab about wooing Riley, with one trembling hand, he slipped on a pair of jeans and a cleaner shirt as he walked out of the room.
He headed down the steps but froze as his gaze settled on the purse right there on the table, he left where he was and walked down to where it was.
His stomach swam with unease, as deep down he wondered why she had been in haste.
He let out a breath and watched the table again slowly approaching it, cautious of the fact that she never leaves without it.
As it didn’t make this look normal he thought it was best for him to put a call through to her just to know if she was doing well.
“Fine you can have my car, I need to go now.”
He called her straight away, she didn’t pick the first three times and it got him more worried.
It was starting to seem like the peaceful day he wanted was turning out to be something absurd, Peace was far from what he could feel at that moment.
Before he knew what he was doing, he was digging through her duffel bag, he found a note right there he had copied himself and given to her months ago and slipped them in his back pocket.
Just as he was about to leave, the purse spilled to the floor spilling more content.
His heartbeat matched the pattern of his steps as he trod toward it, he grabbed some things from the floor and placed them back on the counter, and then stopped to eye the last of the content.
A strong instinct demanded he take it; he picked it up, flipping it to see what it was.
He dropped it In shock, amused at what it was.
It felt like he was going. to be sick from how his heart was beating, but he had to do this, he had to fix this .
*****
At first it all made no sense to him, he had been there for twenty straight minutes unable to move, he ran his mind through the entire situation again wondering if it was all a dream or mere coincidence.
Her purse was right there on the table spewed open with it content all out, soon after making the call he stood there stunned and perplexed as he couldn’t wrap his fingers at why she would have Laura’s address.
He picked the paper up to reconfirm-
As he was he mind went back to how everything had happened, it occurred to him from her reaction that she was hiding something, still what it was she couldn’t decipher at that minute.
Antonia drove home like a woman possessed by a thousand demons, on the way to the isolated part of town where the cabin was she could feel as worries dissipate as she took in the scenery.
She’s never felt so dismayed in her life, surrounding her heart was fear and anxiety, the two blocking out more heavy thoughts as the seconds trickled.
Her car drove rather slowly as she neared home, as now she struggles to keep up with the manner at which her heart was beating.
The faltering sound of a car driving in filled the room and next entered Antonia bursting through the door. If he hadn’t heard her he would most definitely have thought she had run all the way.
“I can explain.”She tries explaining.
At it was she could literally hear her heart beating fast at that moment, she was unsure if what to do … unsure of what the right was to say at the moment.
Maybe she does have a blame in all of this listening to him talk over the phone all she could replay was that feeling of guilt that was gnawing at her as she replayed Christian words in her head.
She had for once not opened up to the man after knowing him for years, about why she had the card.
She shouldn’t have been so careless to leave her purse.
He watches her unsure of what to say .
Her heartbeat raced heavily.
