THE CEO ALPHA KING
Chapter 29: The Aura
Writer’s POV
“You have a missed call,” Kendrick said handing Isaac’s phone back to him.
“Who?” Issac asked, a smirk dancing around the corner of his lips.
“Guess?” Kendrick grinned.
Issac imputed his password and unlocked the phone to see two missed calls from Serena.
His eyes widened and he looked up at Kendrick.
“Why didn’t you call me to pick up?” Isaac fumed, this was the first time his sister was attempting to talk to him after the incident.
“Hey, I didn’t know when the call came in okay? Just call her back.” Kendrick retorted before starting the engine of his car.
“I can’t. I don’t want to put her in trouble. I can only message her to call me whenever she can.” Isaac mumbled before typing a message for Serena to call him back when she could.
“You are dying to hear from her and yet your pride won’t allow you to call her back?” Kendrick chuckled.
“It’s not pride okay? I just don’t want to put her into trouble.” Isaac groaned, tired of explaining it to Kendrick.
“Yeah. Sure.” Kendrick lifted his hands in defense.
“So, how was it? Was getting slapped by that girl worth it?” Kendrick turned to look at Isaac after a while of silence.
“Yes, it was worth it. I have gotten her where I want her to be. She asked me to meet up with her at the Land Mall Hotel. 2:00 pm tomorrow.” Issac answered proudly.
“So, what are exactly your plans? What do you have in store for her?” Ken inquired, adjusting to face his best friend who had a sinister smile on his face.
“You know, just to have fun with her and then trash her. She needs to see herself as weak and useless. I’ll surely make life a living hell for her the way she made it for Serena.” Issac promised.
“And you are sure she won’t suspect anything?” Ken asked.
“She won’t. She’s not as smart as you think and her hatred for Serena is her greatest weakness.” Issac replied.
“And you are also sure your sister won’t get mad at you if she learns of this. I mean you are going to fuck her sister, isn’t that kind of weird?” Kendrick turned to Isaac.
Isaac shrugged.
“I’m a fuck boy. She’ll understand.” Isaac smirked and they burst out in laughter.
***
Serena had almost fallen asleep when her phone beeped, indicating that a new message had just entered.
She sat up on her bed, dropping the book she had been trying to read, and checked her phone to see a text from Isaac. She smiled, happy that Isaac wanted to talk to her, irrespective of ignoring her for so long.
She immediately dialed his number and he picked up the call after a second ring.
As she placed the phone over her right ear, she became speechless, not knowing how to start the conversation.
“What is that? You won’t talk?” Isaac’s voice boomed through the speaker and she blushed, thankful he couldn’t see her right now.
“H.. hi,” Serena mumbled like a shy teenager.
“How are you doing, Sis?” Issac asked, taking a deep breath as he did.
“I’m fine. I’m sorry for what happened, for what I did. I’m sorry for everything, I had no time to explain and I knew you wouldn’t wanna agree with my plan of letting you go. I’m deeply, sorry,” Serena found her tongue as the words came rushing out of her mouth. Guilt clawed at her.
Isaac sighed.
“It’s okay. What’s done is done, all I can think of right now is a way to get you out of that castle. We can’t possibly use the first method because King Zed already knows of that. For now, you’ll remain put there, behave, stay out of trouble until…”
“I will, I will stay safe. I am safe so please stop worrying about me. You take care of yourself, you and your friend were both thrown into a cell because of me. Just stay safe and live happily, don’t worry too much about me.” She mumbled, blinking rapidly to stop the tears that threatened to fall from her eyes.
“Hey, I will get you out of there okay? Have that in mind. I don’t back down on things I have my eyes on. So tell me, how was yesterday? Anything to discuss?” Issac inquired.
Serena smiled a little, happy that Isaac still cared about her. She didn’t know what she would have done if he hadn’t forgiven her.
“Yes, something did happen; I called to tell you about it, actually. I need your help with something.” Serena started.
“Okay, go on. I’m listening.” She heard him shuffle as if trying to sit up properly, and when everything was calm again she spoke up.
“Um… yesterday night, after coming out from the king’s chambers, something happened, and I wasn’t thinking straight. I happened to run into this human girl that stays at the castle and…”
“Wait, you mean the crazy Emily? The one that’s into girls? Oh fuck, why didn’t I warn you about her?” Isaac groaned obviously annoyed at himself.
“Yes, she…”
“Oh please don’t tell me she is hitting on you. Don’t go close to her, she is always high on drugs.” Issac interrupted and warned.
Serena stayed quiet, not knowing what to say. Should she confirm his suspicions or just change the topic?
“Wait, did she do something to you?” Isaac asked, curiosity laced in his voice.
“Uh.. yes, she made me drink this drug… yesterday I wasn’t myself but I’m fine now,” Serena explained.
“Shit! Do you happen to know what drug she gave to you?” Issac quizzed.
“Uh yes, actually King Zed called in a doctor to check up on me…”
“King Zed did what?! You mean the cold-hearted Alpha King called a doctor for you?” Isaac asked in bewilderment, and this caused Serena to chuckle.
“Yes, he did. But that’s not the main point. The main thing is the effect the drug has on me right now. The doctor explained that the drug is used mostly by humans to… to.. boost their… um…” Serena stammered, trying to find another word for it.
“Sexual urge?” Issac cut in and Serena turned red.
“Yes, that. They said I needed a release. I wasn’t able to have one because of how crazy I started acting last night, and since I didn’t have that, they said I’ll start getting ho…”
“Yeah, I know all that. I have an idea.” Isaac interrupted her again.
Serena nodded as if he could see her and remained silent, waiting for him to speak.
“Okay, so you have never been with a guy before, right?” Isaac interviewed.
Serena nodded again before mumbling a “yes”, too embarrassed to talk about that part of her life with a guy even though the guy was her brother.
“Yeah, I already guessed that. The only solution I can think of might not appear okay to you at the moment, but I’ll try looking up the internet. There might be a drug that will help stop the drug from taking such effect on you.” Isaac informed.
“Okay,” Serena murmured.
“But you can still try it out, you know, the “sex” thing; it’s just sad that there is no guy in there that I want for you, and I don’t think King Zed will ever allow you to leave his castle again.”
“You are suggesting I should do… it?” “No! I can’t, I’m not ready, I don’t know how to.” Serena shook her head in refusal.
“Yes, that is no longer an option, Serena. I’ll just find a different way. If I find one, I’ll let you know immediately. And the rule between you and I is that we must speak every day.”
“You must call me whenever you are free. It’s a must. I’m not there with you but I can still keep you company from here until we can be together. Be smarter and take care of yourself okay?” Issac advised.
“Okay, thanks. I’ll do just that.” Serena smiled.
“Good. Now have some sleep if you don’t have any other thing to do for.”
“I will, thanks.” Her smile widened before she dropped the call.
Oh, I miss him so very much. I miss chatting with him, Serena thought as she lay down on the bed and closed her eyes before slowly and quietly drifting to the dream world.
She opened her eyes when a knock sounded on her door. She slowly sat up from the bed, her eyes fixed fearfully on it. The memory from last night flashed in her head and she gripped her duvet tighter.
“Are you in there, Serena? Grandma Felicia asked to see you. You should be quick.” A loud unfamiliar voice said from behind the door.
She heard movements and figured out that the announcer had left. She came down from her bed and went into the bathroom, then washed her face with running water.
She tied her hair up in a messy bun before walking out of the bathroom, her stomach growling loudly and she realized that she hadn’t eaten anything all day.
At the realization, Isaac came into her thoughts.
If Isaac was here, I wouldn’t have been this hungry. He brings us food so I don’t have to go to the kitchen for that, she thought, a sad smile dancing on her lips.
She walked out of her room and went straight to the mini-mansion. Luckily for her, there was no one to taunt her in the sitting room as she thought of where Grandma Felicia’s room might be.
She stood with her hands fixed on her waist and pounded on what to do.
A few minutes later, she walked to the first door on her right and knocked. The door opened and a guy Serena didn’t usually see around showed up.
“Please, can you direct me? I want to get to Grandma Felicia’s room?” Serena begged, hoping he wouldn’t ignore her.
“The last door on your left.” He answered before shutting his door rather rudely.
“Thanks.” She mumbled before following his instructions, stopping at the door of the last room.
A strange aura bled off it and Serena couldn’t find it in her to knock on the door.
She could also hear voices – conversations but she didn’t want to be a creep and listen to someone’s conversation.
She felt Grandma Felicia’s scent and two other scents, but one of those scents was strangely familiar to her.
She knew the scent very well, but the aura, she couldn’t pinpoint the owner.
Who is behind that door? She wondered but her hungry stomach growled again, diverting her attention from the door.
She turned and left for the kitchen. She could look for something to eat before heading back to Grandma Felicia.
She got to the kitchen and found it empty. No one is here. She proceeded to the fridge, and on opening it, she observed the series of canned food there.
She took out the leftover spaghetti and heated it before eating it.
Voices suddenly came from the sitting room and then the familiar aura she felt in Grandma Felicia’s room filled the whole space.
She closed the fridge and immediately glanced around in search of the voice but couldn’t find anyone.
A little disappointed, she left the kitchen and went back to meet with Grandma Felicia.
She knocked once.
“Come on in, Serena.” Grandma Felicia ushered her in.
Serena, who was a little surprised at the response, pulled open the door to reveal the older woman sitting calmly on her bed.
“Hi, good day.” Serena smiled shyly as she went to sit down on the couch, just in front of Grandma Felicia.
“Hi Serena, I have been expecting you.” The older woman beamed.
“I’m sorry, I was hungry and left to eat.”
“No problem, I’m glad you left me with the two new servants who will be taking over Isaac’s and Kendrick’s jobs.” Grandma Felicia spoke gently.
Serena’s smile dropped at this announcement. So her brother was really gone for good?
“No, it’s not your fault. I believe it’s fate working. Don’t blame yourself for what happened.”
Serena shook her head once. She knew it was her fault. Isaac couldn’t be in this situation if it weren’t for her.
“So we haven’t spoken since that incident happened. Well, I’m glad it happened. You proved that you are also a living being with feelings. But I want to advise you, don’t do what you did again.”
“You put everyone’s life in danger by making King Zed angry. And as you have heard his anger is not a funny one. It’s a miracle that just one person died during that period.” Serena gasped, shocked by the older woman’s words.
Someone died?
“One person? Who?” She asked, fear filling her whole body.
“Charles died.” The older woman revealed and Serena almost screamed out at this information.
“His death was a bit justified because he was actually plotting against the king. The king discovered this by going into your brother’s head. You don’t have to feel bothered by that. Just promise me you will allow fate to play its part.” Grandma Felicia requested and Serena nodded immediately in agreement.
“I will.” She promised.
She had to, or more people would die.
