THE CEO ALPHA KING
Chapter 28: Asking for Forgiveness
Writer’s POV
Serena slowly stood up from the sofa the moment Beta Adam came in with Emily.
Serena didn’t know how to react or how to feel when her eyes landed on the maid, but anger sparked in her, and she wanted to hit Emily for what she had done to her last night.
Emily pinned her eyes to the floor as she stood behind King Zed. Ashamed. Scared.
“So tell me, why did you do that?” King Zed turned to Emily but she remained quiet, unable to respond to him.
“Answer me, you know I won’t ask a second time.” King Zed roared angrily causing her to shake at the sound of his loud voice.
“I was lonely, I needed someone. And I like her so I picked her.” Emi answered fearfully, not sparing Serena a glance.
“You are lonely? Why are you lonely?” King Zed questioned moving closer to her.
“It’s because I don’t have anyone. I stay here every day without knowing a thing about the outside world.” Emi admitted, despite the fear in her voice, she was rather pissed too.
“And why don’t you know a thing about the outside world, Emily?” King Zed asked again stopping in front of her, his gaze boring holes into her head
“Are you supposed to be asking me that? Am I not your prisoner? You won’t allow me to go anywhere.” Emily yelled and Serena could feel the hurt in her voice.
“And why aren’t you allowed outside the castle?” King Zed questioned yet again, ignoring the hurt she was feeling.
“Answer me!”
“I don’t want to do this anymore. I want to leave. Just allow me to go.” Emily started to plead.
“Take her away.” King Zed looked up at Beta Adam as he ordered, stepping away from her.
“Wait. I’ll answer you. The reason why I am not allowed outside is because I’m bad, I’m into girls, and I do dangerous things to them. I also do drugs, and you promised my mama to keep me alive.” Emily shouted.
“Take her away, Adam. Make sure she doesn’t step out of her room again, find out the person helping her with the drugs she takes.” King Zed ordered as Beta Adam dragged Emily away.
“Wait. Please forgive me, I won’t do it again. I will obey all your rules, I will stay alive. I won’t cause trouble again. Please.” The maid pleaded, but the alpha didn’t spare her another glance, and he turned to Serena, who stifled at his attention.
“You can also leave, but be careful. I don’t want another one of my slaves dying under my roof.” King Zed said to Serena before returning to his desk.
“Yes, master. Thank you.” Serena answered before walking to the door. She got to the already-opened door and glanced at King Zed again before leaving.
When King Zed could no longer feel her presence, he looked up and at the door. As if on cue, the memories from last night came flooding into his head once more.
Yesterday, he was lying on his bed, ready to chase his demons away and fall asleep when Serena’s voice suddenly rang inside his head.
He kept hearing all her thoughts, and when he tried hard to block her thoughts from his head, they kept coming until Emily eventually came into the picture. He heard Emily’s voice, how Emily lured her into her room, and how Serena had got scared.
The moment he felt her fear, he sat up from his bed.
A part of him felt scared for her, too, and that was the confusing part. Why did he get scared for her? The answer should be Damon. His wolf. His beast.
Then, when she started struggling with Emily, to let her go. He couldn’t help but stand up from his bed so he could help her escape Emily.
How was it even possible that I am troubled by one she-wolf? He had wondered as he made for the door.
He got to the door and tried to open it but paused.
No! Whatever happens to her can’t be any of my business. I shouldn’t care for a weak wolf like her, he concluded, and made to go back but the doors opened on their own accord.
His guards became alert once the door opened, some bowing in submission to him.
He coughed once and was about to order one of them to go find out what was wrong with Serena but couldn’t bring himself to talk to them about rescuing a she-wolf.
They might get the wrong idea. They might think I no longer dislike her gender but I still do. I should do it myself. I should just rush down and free her from Emily, then come back up, King Zed had thought.
He stepped out of his room and then got to the desired floor. He saw Serena run out of Emily’s room and soon Emily came after her.
He made himself known to them, and Emily had no choice but to back away before he returned Serena’s unconscious and nearly naked body to his room.
“Your Highness.” One of the guards from outside called his attention and he shook off the memory and snapped his head up.
“Yes?” he answered.
“I was told to inform you that the new men who will be working for you are here in the castle.” The guard informed.
“Have Felicia speak with them.” King Zed ordered.
“Yes your Highness,” the guard replied before leaving, shutting the door behind him.

Serena sat down on her bed and grabbed her cell phone. She was relieved that her cell phone was in the pocket of her dress the day those men in black attacked her and Martin.
Speaking of Martins, I should call him and see how he is. But first, I need to call Isaac and ask him for a solution to my biggest problem: getting horny, Serena reasoned as she dialed her brother’s number.
The call went through, but Isaac did not answer.
Serena’s heart sank at the thought that Isaac might still be angry with her.
She picked up the phone again and dialed his number. It rang and ended without being picked up again. Serena’s eyes welled up with tears, but she held them back.

Outside the castle. At a bar
Shit, I think I left my phone in the car, Issac thought to himself when he couldn’t find his phone. He was too eager to drink that he forgot to take it.
Isaac’s gaze shifted away from his drink and toward Kate, who had just entered the bar.
“Hey man, look at her. She is the girl I told you about.” Isaac tapped Kendrick, directing his friends’ attention to Kate, who was looking around irritably at the bar.
“You mean the human lady you disgraced at a restaurant for your sister?” Kendrick asked.
“You can say that again,” Isaac smirked, rising to his feet.
“Hey, where are you going? What if she sees you?” Kendrick questioned.
“That is exactly what I want. I want her to see me” Isaac said before leaving.
He went to sit with Kate, who was sitting alone at an empty table.
“Hey, Kate. Right?” Isaac inquired, his gaze fixed on her.
Kate lifted her gaze to meet his. Her eyes widened, and anger flashed in them as she stood up immediately, picked up her bag, and went out of the bar.
Isaac smirked to himself and followed her out, he stood in front of her car, blocking her from getting in.
A minute of silence passed between them before Kate lifted her hand midair and hit him across the cheeks, leaving a stinging sensation behind.
Isaac gasped in shock before masking his emotions very quickly, he turned to face her, guilt and remorse evident in his gaze.
“I deserved that. I’ve been looking everywhere for you to apologize, Kate. I’m so sorry, I made a mistake the last time we met.” Isaac apologized.
“Get out of my sight. Get out, I want to leave this place.” Kate shouted.
“Hey, I know you are really mad at me. The truth is I’m really mad at myself for believing that weak girl named Serena. She is the one who poisoned my mind against you, I am sorry.” Isaac apologized, and at his apologies, Kate shifted uncomfortably.
“What did she say to you?” She asked curiously, her anger slowly melting away.
“Well, if you calm down. I promise to tell you everything from the very beginning. Look, we can go back to the restaurant; I’ll go tell everyone there that I made a huge mistake about you, which I can’t forgive myself for. We can even go to the television stations, I’ll announce to them that I am so stupid, and I’ll apologize publicly to you there.” Isaac said desperately.
Kate folded her arms to consider his words.
“You don’t believe me? Wait here then. Let me start by telling everyone at the bar how sorry I am for hurting you the way I did.” Isaac turned and started heading back to the bar, he was at the entrance about to go in when Kate’s voice stopped him.
A smile touched his face at that moment.
He suspected she was going to stop him. No. He knew that she was going to stop him. And stopping him meant one thing: she still had feelings for him.
Good, Isaac thought as his eyes met with Kendrick’s.
He signaled for Kendrick to come out before turning back to Kate, who dramatically rolled her eyes.
“You shouldn’t have stopped me,” Issac mumbled looking remorseful.
“He is indeed sorry. Please forgive my best friend for his extreme stupidity; he would not let me rest after learning the truth about you. He suggested we search every corner of LA for you. I’m happy he finally met you here.” Kendrick said, coming to stand in front of Isaac.
“Really? He said that?” Kate asked, her eyes glancing suspiciously between them.
“Yes, I’m Kendrick. This fool’s best friend, I hope you can forgive him, give him a second chance.” Kendrick extended his hand to Kate who accepted it before pulling away.
“Well, that depends. Tell me everything Serena told you about me first.” Kate turned to Issac and requested.
“Will you really forgive me after that?” Isaac asked, his eyes glittering in amusement.
“It depends. I might still dump your ass, get into my car.” Kate rolled her eyes at Isaac before turning to her car.
Isaac smirked, mischief glittering in his hazel eyes as he looked at Kendrick, who simply shook his head incredulously at him.
“Um.. I’ll be waiting in the car, Isa. See you,” Kendrick called out before walking away.
Isaac got into Kate’s car, resting his back against the passenger seat comfortably.
“Now talk, what did that dirty little rat say about me?” Kate demanded.
Issac took a deep breath, encouraging himself not to get mad at her.
“Well, she didn’t say much. She just told me you blame her for your mother’s death; she told me you and your dad gang up and bully her every day. My protective instincts just kicked at the moment I heard her mention ‘bully.'”
“I personally hate bullies. My sister, the only sister I have died because of them. She committed suicide. Every day, she could come home from school and pretend everything was okay, but we didn’t know she was being seriously bullied until she jumped down from the top roof of her school building. That was when I read her diary, I became so mad, I wanted to kill all of them at that school.” Isaac narrated a hint of sadness in his tone.
“When Serena lied about being in the situation, I immediately believed her. I told her about my sister, and she took advantage of it. Then she made me dislike you before I had the opportunity to meet you.
I was quick to judge you. How can you, an angel, be such a bully? I sincerely apologize for what I did. I will forever regret it.” Isaac spoke with remorse in his eyes, and Kate was moved to forgive him.
“How did you know she was lying then?” Kate asked him.
“I read her diary and discovered that she despises you and regrets having you as a sister. She said she wanted to kill you but could not bring herself to do so; after reading those few lines, I realized she was the devil herself and stopped reading. Finally, all I ask is for your forgiveness.
I became overly emotional because I was thinking about my deceased sister. I know you understand the anguish of losing someone so close to you.” Isaac said, keeping his gaze fixed on Kate. She paused, thinking deeply, before speaking again.
“Meet me tomorrow at the Land Mall Hotel at 2:00 p. m.”
“I will be there,” Isaac smiled as he opened her car door. He came down and watched as she drove away.
Interesting, he thought, chuckling maliciously.
