I smiled as he reached down and entwined our fingers. Say it again, I whispered, closing my eyes as he laughed softly, his breath grazing my lips.
I’ve fallen for you Lily, he said. I’ve completely fallen for you.
I let go of his hand and threw my arms around his neck, pulling him down to me. Standing on tiptoes, I pressed my lips against his and kissed him hard. He put his hands on my hips and pressed against me, kissing me back until we were both breathless. Coming up for air, I breathed heavily as I looked up at him. He was grinning from ear to ear and he reached up, brushing a strand of hair behind my ear.
God you make me so happy, I smiled, never having remembered being so happy in all my life.
Right back at ya gorgeous ! He grinned, winking at me.
So, do you want to go and get breakfast or something ? I asked, cringing when my stomach made a very loud noise that seemed to echo across the entire rooftop.
Noah raised his eyebrow at me and smiled. I think we better, he said. Before your stomach starts making even weirder noises.
Laughing, I ran over and picked up my guitar whilst Noah put his shirt on and grabbed the blanket. Striding over to the roof door, I pulled at the handle but the door wouldn’t budge. Frowning, I placed my guitar on the floor and yanked the door hard, but it still wouldn’t move.
Great ! I muttered, Just great.
Oh please don’t tell me the door’s stuck ? Noah asked, reaching around me and pulling the door with all of his strength. It didn’t open.
I spun around and frowned at him, although I was trying my hardest not to laugh at the ridiculous situation we had found ourselves in. Didn’t you think to put something by the door to stop it shutting completely ? I asked him, throwing my hands in the air.
Well, uh, he mumbled, scratching his head and making a face at me. I was kind of caught up in the moment.
I shook my head at him and smiled. He probably didn’t even realize it, but it was things like that, that had made me fall for the guy. And anyway, he said, snapping me from my daydream. Why didn’t you put something there ? It’s not always the guys fault you know !
I burst out laughing as I stared at him. His hands were on his hips and he was eyeing up the door like it was mission impossible. And as much as I tried to control myself, the laughter just wouldn’t stop. I could feel Noah’s eyes on me as I laughed hysterically, the tears beginning to fall from my eyes. I bent down and placed my hands on my knees, trying to stop laughing, but it was no use whatsoever.
Um, Lily. Are you ok ? I heard Noah chuckle. You seem to be losing the plot down there.
That just set me off even more, and before I knew it, Noah was joining in. Both of us stood there for a minute, laughing like a pair of crazy people. Taking a deep breath, I wiped the tears away with the back of my hand and stood up, feeling a pain shoot through my side.
I think I have a stitch, I breathed, looking over at Noah who was leaning against the wall trying to catch his breath back.
Me too ! He chuckled. I think we need to excercise more.
Smiling at him, an idea suddenly popped in to my head. Reaching down in to my pocket, my fingers closed around my mobile phone. As I pulled it out and held it up to Noah, I grinned and shook it. I totally forgot for a minute, but I bought my mobile up here with me. Yay ! I can call Jen and she can come and unlock the door.
Noah looked at the phone like it was the best thing in the world. And then he looked at me and smirked. So what you’re essentially telling me, is that we’ve been panicking and laughing up here like a couple of looney tunes for the past ten minutes, and you’ve had your phone the whole time ?
Um, yeah basically.. I nodded sheepishly, trying to ignore the look Noah was giving me.
Great, Noah said sarcastically, although a flash of amusement was evident in his eyes. Well give Jen a call. Let’s hope she’s actually still in the building and not off getting a manicure or something…
Fingers crossed, I smiled, as I typed in Jen’s mobile number and waited.
As the phone rang, I shuffled on the spot impatiently, hoping she’d pick up. After a couple of rings, Jen came on the line and I gave a thumbs up to Noah. Lily, what’s up ? Jen asked, sounding like she’d just woken up.
Um funny story, I laughed, shrugging at Noah. So uh, me and Noah happen to be locked up on the roof because he forgot to keep the door open a little…
I looked over at him and grinned, wiggling my eyebrows at him. He just pulled a face and shook his head at me, trying to look annoyed and failing. Anyway, we were wondering if you would come up and let us in, if it’s not too much trouble.
Jen’s laughter came over the line, so I just sighed and waited patiently as she got it all out of her system. After a couple of minutes, the laughter died down and Jen’s voice came back over the line. Sorry, but seriously, these things could only happen to you two idiots, she chuckled. I’ll be up in one minute, I just need to go over to Noah’s apartment and tell everyone what’s happened.
No ! I practically shouted in to the phone. You don’t have to
But she was gone. The dial tone buzzed in my ear as I sighed, before clicking the off button and slipping the phone back in to my pocket. So, she’s letting us out right ? Noah smiled at me, looking hopeful.
Yep, I nodded. Right after she goes over to your apartment and tells Jackie, Rich and Dean that we locked ourselves on the roof.
His smile slowly faded away as he registered what I’d said. Ah well, he shrugged, his eyes lighting up as he stared at me. So, it looks like we have a few minutes before she comes up. Wanna make out ?
You read my mind, I laughed, launching myself at him before he even had time to blink.
A couple of minutes later, the handle of the door turned and Jen opened it, peeking her head through. Noah and I were sat on the floor, waiting for her. As we both looked up, Jen grinned and shook her head at both of us.
What am I going to do with you two ? She smiled affectionately, swinging the door all the way open.
It was Noah’s fault, I said pointing at him, before jumping up and grabbing my guitar and walking to Jen quickly before Noah could say another word.
Heyyy ! I heard him shout behind me as I stepped in to the corridor and aimed for the stairs.
Laughing softly to myself, I waited until Jen and Noah appeared. He stuck his tongue out at me as he walked, but I could tell he was trying hard not to laugh. Thanks for getting us Jen, I smiled as we all walked down the stairs. We could have been stuck up there for days.
I can think of ways that we could have passed the time, Noah said, wiggling his eybrows at me.
Eww, Jen muttered beside me, shaking her head at Noah.
I smiled as we all rounded the corner and came face to face with Jackie and Rich, who were casually leaning against the wall, like they were waiting for us to appear. Sighing, I looked at Jen. You actually knocked on their door and told them ? I asked.
Obviously, she smiled proudly, Now if you don’t mind all, I still need to get my beauty sleep.
But it’s almost noon, Jackie said, glancing at her watch. How can you sleep so late ?
Trust me, very easily, Jen smiled, taking the guitar off me before waving to us and going inside the apartment.
A brief silence followed as Noah and I stood there, looking awkwardly at Jackie and Rich who were both grinning at us. Soo… Noah eventually said, rocking back and forth. Breakfast anybody ?
I could go for some breakfast, I nodded enthusiastically, maybe a little too much.
Noah grabbed my hand and started to pull me in to his apartment, but I was stopped as Jackie reached out and grabbed my other arm. Not so fast, she laughed.
I felt Noah reluctantly let go of my hand. Do we really have to explain ? I mean he mumbled, before Rich smiled and shook his head.
Don’t worry guys, he laughed. Whatever you lovebirds get up to in your own time is your business. Jackie and I were just gonna ask you something.
Oh, I said, slightly surprised. Okay, what’s up ?
Well, Jackie smiled. I actually thought me and you could spend the afternoon together, maybe go shopping or something whilst these guys do their guy thing. And then we could all meet up tonight and go bowling or something, seeing as it’s Saturday night, our last night before we go home. What do you think ?
I think that sounds great, I smiled, glancing at Noah to see that he was nodding at the suggestion too.
Yep sounds good to me, Noah grinned. Dick, we can have some male to male bonding time.
Great, he muttered, pretending to look uninterested, but it was easy to see he was really looking forward to it.
