The next day, Melody fixes her appearance. She tied the knot around her waist into ribbon. She is wearing a dress that reaches above her ankle. She let out a deep sigh as she looked at herself in the mirror.
She hope everything went well today.
Yet, she didn’t put too much hope in this, knowing nothing good came from Frank.
Melody grabbed her sling bag and went out of her bedroom. As she shut the door, a voice made her flinch.
“Where are you going? It’s still early,”
Matthew is standing there wearing a hoodie and blue jeans. He looked at her from head to toe, gazing at her appearance.
“I uh… have something to do outside,” she smiles.
“Pick-pocket? I thought you retired from that stuff,” he smirks, crossing his arms above his chest.
“I’m not going to do that anymore,” she huffs. “I just want to have fresh air, that’s all.”
Matthew stares at her for a moment before deciding to speak, “You should bring some guards with you. It’s dangerous for you.”
Guard?
But if she brings them, they inform her of everything about her day to Damian. She can’t let it happen.
“I-I’m fine. Really. I got to go-you know what? See ya later!!” she quickly ran off leaving Matthew.
The man just stands there watching her leave. Victor appeared beside him, looking at what his friend looking at.
“She still didn’t say anything about it?”
“Of course not. What do you expect? She stubborn as Damian.” Matthew said. Then, he frowns, “You know what? I just notice it. Both of them are stubborn as hell.
“You think so?” Victor arches his eyebrows.
“Yup. But if you ask my opinion, Damian is much more stubborn,”
Matthew nods and agrees to himself.
“If you don’t want my bullet on your forehead, go do your work, Matthew,” Damian, standing behind them, suddenly said.
Matthew flinched and quickly ran off. Victor just rolls his eyes and shakes his head slightly.
“Where is Melody? She already leaving?”
“She is,” Victor nods.
“If that is so, assign some of our men to follow her. Make sure there is no harm to her,” Damian says firmly.
Victor nods. He was about to turn away to leave, but his shoulder got pulled back. He turns around and Damian leans to his ear.
“Remember, if I found any scratch on her… even a single and small one, don’t expect me to be nice. All of you will scream in pain,”
His whispers send shivers through Victor’s spine. Damian pulls away and smiles before patting his shoulder and walking away to his study room. Victor, standing there, felt his heart racing.
Damian never felt anyone trembling in fear. He could feel the threat was not empty. Victor might look cool, but when his friend acts that way, it still affects her.
But…
Why is he so overprotective of her?
__
Melody gets out of the taxi and pays the driver. She decides to use a taxi so that the driver of Damian won’t inform her where she is. She looks at the mansion, where she grew up happily and ends up suffering at the end.
Where everything is happy and ends badly.
She takes a deep breath and walks towards the front door. Her hands tremble slightly, and she knocks on the door.
It took a while for the door to open. Once it opens, the guard’s eyes widen. He was stunned in his place.
“Melody?” he accidentally said her name.
“I know it’s shocking,” she giggles.
“Oh my gosh! Guys!! Miss Melody is here!!” he screams.
All the guards rush to the front door to see Melody. She chuckles seeing how excited they are to see her. If she being given a chance to save one thing from this mansion other than her father’s property…
That would be her guards.
“We miss you, miss Melody,” one guard says.
“I miss you too. How are all of you?” Melody smiles.
All the guards exchange looks and shrugs, “Everything is the same, Miss Melody. Nothing is change,”
“I see. Oh, gasps, call me miss. I’m not miss. I’m married,” Melody shows the ring on her finger. Then she frowns, “Wait. Why do I even care about it?”
“You are married!?”
“So it true!?”
“The rumour about you marrying Damian, the tyrant mafia!?”
Tyrant?
Melody almost laugh to hear that. She couldn’t believe she dared to steal his phone and tease him a lot when people called him a tyrant.
“Yes,” she chuckles.
One guard holds her shoulder, “Did he hurt you or something, Mrs. Melody!?”
“Hurt? There’s nothing harm he put on me for the whole time I stay with him,” she checks her body.
Suddenly, one of them saw her wrists bandage. He gasps, “What’s wrong with your wrist!? Did Damian cause of it!?”
“What? Of course not. It was from… Teresa,” Melody clears her throat not wanting to talk about it.
“That bitch,”
“I told you we should hide her bra and panties!”
“That’s not enough! We should break her heels!”
Melody stifles with laughter. She knows how caring and protective are her guards. Sadly, she can’t bring them. Or she can? Melody taps her chin. She has to talk about it with Damian later.
But that will make Damian know she went to meet Frank alone.
“Look like my daughter is here already,”
Soon, Frank’s voice booms in the house, and all guards stand straight. They step aside to let Melody meet him.
“I don’t know my daughter dear by everyone,” he chuckles.
All the guard’s eyes twitch. Of course, they love Melody. She is the only one left by her father. Besides, she did nothing but do a good deed and be nice towards them. Such a sweetheart.
Frank walks towards her. “I thought I told you to come during the afternoon.”
“I decide to come early,” she says firmly.
“I see; you made your own decision now, huh?” his eyes fixed on her figures from head to toe. “Teresa was right. You look different.”
Melody looks more presentable and beautiful. Just looking at the branded clothes and items on her is enough to show how well Damian treats her. Also, enough to show him that she’s not living in hell like he and his daughter expect.
“Anyway, come in. We got a lot to talk about,” he ushers her in.
Melody secretly waves at the guards before they decide to go back to their position. She follows him to the living room. Nothing has changed in this house.
“Take a seat, dear,” Frank sits on his couch.
Melody felt shivers through her spine when she heard him call her that. She takes a seat opposite him.
Frank crosses his legs, “Before we start the discussion, I want to apologise for Teresa’s actions toward you. I heard she caused a scene and harmed you. Is that true?”
“Even if I said it is true, will you even care about it? Will you believe it? As far as I know, whatever Teresa did is nothing to you since you just pretend to be blind to whatever she did,”
Melody says bluntly.
“That’s not true, Melody. I care about what she did,” he put his palm hand on his heart, “Besides, I apologise for whatever she caused you.”
“It’s not like I care,” Melody mumbles to herself and rolls her eyes.
The servants came and put the tray down. She prepared the tea. Melody notices the sweat and nervous expression on her. She glanced at Frank, who somehow checked the maid’s movement when she put Melody’s tea on the table.
“Can we start talking now?” she speaks.
“Okay. Let’s talk about the discussion. You know this marriage plan is supposed to be for Teresa right?” he questioned.
“Yes,”
“And you ruin it,” he chuckles.
“I didn’t ruin it. I save him,” Melody narrows her eyes. “You have bad intentions on him,”
“Are you sure that’s the only reason?” Frank arches his eyebrows.
Melody frowns
“I think you help him because you want to escape from this house, don’t you?” he smirks.
She clenched her fist, “If that’s true, then what’s wrong with it?”
“Nothing wrong with it. It just… you made me change the plan. You have to do something for me,” Frank smiles.
“To do… something?”
“I plan to let Teresa seduce him or sneak something from him. Yet, I can’t do anything but use you instead since Damian seems… more fond of you,” he explains.
Fond of her?
Melody furrows her eyebrows, “Fond of me? Mr. Angelo and me is nothing.”
“Keep telling yourself that. What people see is not the same as what you see,” he takes a sip of his tea.
Melody slightly frowns again. She didn’t notice anything change in Damian. He is still an annoying old man. People keep telling her how much Damian changed after her existence.
“So, I want you to leak out some information about his clan,” Frank blurted out.
Her eyes wide open, “Leak the information!? For you!?”
“Yes. I have no one close to him except you. You are the only one that close to him and knows everything in his mansion or clan. You got access to all of the room,”
“Also… no one will be suspicious of you,”
Frank smirks. He knows what will be her answers after this and he is ready to use it on her.
“Are you crazy!?”
Like he expected.
“I thought you were stupid enough to plan on killing Damian, but you are more stupid than I thought!!” Melody exclaims.
“Melody, I didn’t ask much, didn’t I?” he arches his eyebrows.
Melody sighs deeply and pinches the bridge of her nose, “I know, but… Frank. I’m trying to save your butt here. Mess with Damian is like you mess with something… that could kill you anytime.”
He let out laughter.
“Oh, Melody. I know what I did. With you in my plan, everything will work as fine as I want.”
“Also, I wouldn’t do it. Don’t be too confident that I will agree to help you and betray that man’s trust!”
“I had enough to suffer in pain. I wouldn’t repeat it,” she says through her gritted teeth.
Frank lets out a sigh. He thought it was only Damian who changed so much, but this girl also changed a lot. She seems more determined than before. Before this, she looked weak, petite, and like an obedient puppy.
“I don’t want to do this but…” he throws the file on the coffee table. “That is a copy of your father’s property.”
Melody’s eyes slightly widen.
“The real one is with me. I told you we would talk about it, right? Now, if you want it back, you have to do what I want,” Frank smirks.
He could see the change of expression on her face. Frank knows she wants her father’s property back since that’s the only thing her father left for her. She clenched her fist, holding herself back.
“You can’t do this to me…” her voice shaky.
“I can. Let’s make deal. You do what I want, then I will give your father’s property back to you. About the signature you sign before this, I will ripped it. What do you say?”
Frank’s smirk did not vanish from his face. She stares at the file. She can’t betray Damian’s trust. Once she betray his trust, everything will be the end. She had enough of suffer.
But, if she didn’t agree to this then how can she get her father’s property back?
