Chapter 26

Book:Rose & Thorn: The Perfect Duo Published:2024-8-29

Melody shut her bedroom door gently. She looks left and right in the hallway only to see some maid and butler doing their work. She let out a deep sigh. If she knows it coming today, she will go buy it early.
One maid noticed her standing in front of her room, looking like she was in deep thought. The maid slowly went to her, “Ma’am?”
“Y-Yes?” Melody jolts and turns to her.
“Are you okay?” she titled her head in concern.
“I’m fine!” Melody chuckles, hiding the fact she is in pain. “Anyway, have you seen Mr. Angelo?”
“Mr. Angelo? I think… I just saw him in the living room with Mr. Matthew and Mr. Victor,” the maid answers with a smile.
“I see. Thank you!”
Melody quickly leaves. The maid just shrugs her shoulder and continues doing her work. The staff in the mansions welcome her more than anything. Why? Because of her presence, this mansion is more lively.
She rushes downstairs and straight to the living room. She hides behind the door to see Damian talking with Mathew and Victor. They look serious, probably about his company.
“Why do they have to be there at this urgent time…” she whines to herself.
“If you say so, then make it that way,” Damian leans on the couch.
Victor nods and writes something on the file. While they were talking, Damian could feel someone’s presence. He looks over his shoulder and notices a glimpse of a pink dress.
There’s no one other than her.
“Are you going to hide behind the door like a stalker?” Damian spokes catch both of the men’s attention.
Matthew arches his eyebrows, “What are you talking about? Are you talking to someone?”
He points at the door behind them. “Melody come out,”
They don’t even realise Melody is hiding behind the door. Melody didn’t expect he notice she was there. He don’t even check first and he already knows she was there? Melody was amazed by his strong sense.
“Woah, how did you know I was here?” Melody comes out and asks excitedly.
“Hm. No one in this house will dare to sneak up like that other than you, Melody,” he said in a flat tone.
She giggles and sits on the same couch as him. Matthew tilted his head, noticing the interaction between them. There’s no tension or fighting between them. Not like before.
“It seems like you are both on good terms,” Matthew smirks.
“I notice that too,” Victor joined in while his eyes were still on the file.
“There’s nothing change between us. Stop being nonsense,” Damian said. His tone was laced with strictness.
“He didn’t tell you guys?” Melody tilted her head.
Matthew and Victor exchange looks, “Tell us what?”
“Me and Mr. Angelo talk then he said sor-mmm!!” Melody flinches and struggles as someone closes her mouth with their hand.
Damian keeps a firm yet gentle grip on her mouth. She tried to smack his hands away, but he was too strong for her. Matthew and Victor just watch them in silence, observing their interaction.
“Can you stop talking for a moment? I’m so annoyed just to hear your voice,” he said deadpan. Not even bother the struggling women in his arms.
“Mmm!! Mmm!!” Melody tries to speak.
He could tell she was mad just from the way she sounded, “Keep quiet. It’s not like you will be dead if you didn’t speak,”
After a moment, Matthew and Victor decide to leave to handle their task. Victor shuts the front door closed. He looks at his friend who looks bothered.
“What’s wrong with you?” Victor questioned.
“You saw what saw just now, didn’t you?” he frowns. Victor just nods. “Dude! How can you be so calm about this!?”
Victor raises his eyebrow.
“Oh come on! Don’t tell me you are not stunned by the interaction from Damian and Melody!!” Matthew tries to explain.
“What about it? I know Damian looks… different toward Melody, but why did it bother you so much?” Victor frowns.
“Who wouldn’t? Look at them!” he pulls him toward the window, peaking from it. “Damian never be close to someone like that before except for his parent.”
Victor was silent for a moment, watching the scene in front of him. Damian glares at Melody and seems like scolding her about something. Melody grins sheepishly, scratching at the back of her head.
What his friend said is true. Damian would never do this to anyone. When he recall back the past, he always saw Damian alone with his tab, in his office, or anything related to his work stuff.
But now…
A small smile tugged on his lips. A sad man who stuck with his past now finally has the life he deserve before he knew it.
“Well, good for him.”
“Wait, did you just smile?” Matthew looks at him with wide eyes.
“I’m not,” he walks away.
“You just did!!” Matthew catches after him. “Please tell me that is a smile!!”
Damian looks at her suspiciously. He crossed his arms, waiting for her to be honest. He knows there is something she wants.
“Spill it out,”
“What do you mean by that?” Melody acting dumb.
“Melody, I know you got something in your mind. You wouldn’t be hiding behind the door and peaking, arguing with yourself whether to walk in or not,” Damian narrows his eyes on her.
She let out a deep sigh. “Fine. You see through me, Mr. Angelo,”
“You are just like an open book; how could I not?” he rolls his eyes.
Melody fidgeting with her dress. She wants to tell him, but it is too personal. This thing is too much for her. It’s embarrassing to say.
The guy notices the hesitation in her expression. He crosses his arms and arches his eyebrows. “Is it that hard to say it? I got a lot of things to do than waiting for you to speak.”
“You don’t understand. It’s quiet… personal,” she timidly speaks.
“Personal?” he frowns.
Melody let out a deep breath for who knows, how many times. She looks at him determinedly. “Promise me you wouldn’t say anything about it. No judging!”
“Whatever,” Damian sighs.
She leans closer making Damian flinch away, “What are you trying to do?”
“Chill, Mr. Angelo. I’m not going to rape you,” she rolls her eyes.
“That’s not my concern,” Damian scoffs.
“Really? That means you don’t care if I rape you?” Melody grins.
Damian glares at her, “I dare you to try,”
Melody giggles seeing him glaring. Then, she finally decided to tell him. She gestures to him and leans closer. Damian shakes his head slightly and leans closer.
“I… I’m on my period…” she whispers.
Damian paused for a moment. Then, he furrows his eyebrows and leans away to look at her face.
“What does it have to do with me?” he frowns.
“Look, you said you would provide anything for me, and I need my feminine stuff,” she explains.
“I said the maid. Not me,” Damian firmly speaks.
“I don’t want the maid to buy my feminine stuff, Mr. Angelo,” Melody grunts, “I want myself. I want to go to the mall.”
“You know you can’t be alone outside. It’s not like I care,” he mumbles the last words.
“Are you crazy!? I don’t want your bodyguard to watch me buying that stuff! It’s normal, I know, but I’m not that kind of person!” she exclaims.
Damian pinches the bridge of his nose, “Then, you want what? Me to follow you?”
Melody grins.
