Victor arches his eyebrows, “Juniver? Your father is the original heir of this clan, am I right?”
“Yes. But he passed away and my mother married my step-father. So, my-” Melody winced in pain when her step-father tightened the grips, silently signalling her to stop talking.
Damian tilted his head, as he could see what happened here. He didn’t expect this pick-pocket girl to be the daughter of Juniver Gerald, the original leader of this clan.
“So, you take over this clan, Mr. Frank?”
“Y-Yes, sir,” Frank stammered a bit.
“Hm. Why you didn’t introduce her here? I expect you to… introduce all your daughters and not only one,” he glanced at Teresa who was already tense in her chair.
Frank’s eyes darted everywhere, trying to think of excuses, “T-That because I know my…. sweet Melody wouldn’t agree to this marriage,”
Melody mentally frowns. He doesn’t even ask and already assuming that she wouldn’t like this marriage. She more than liked it as long as she could escape this hell. Even that means she has to face that old man’s face.
“If you introduced her, I will choose her because she is originally from this clan,” Damian speaks.
Teresa abruptly stands up, “That’s not fair! I’m the one who got here first!”
“It didn’t matter who got here first. What matters is who got my attention. That’s what matters, girl,” he smirks.
Damian gazes at Melody, gesturing for her to come over. She is about to move but Frank pulls her back. She tries to pry her wrist from his grip but that man glares at her to stay and say something to reject the offer.
Matthew gets annoyed with the action of Frank. He walks towards them and holds Frank’s shoulder.
“Sir, I suggest you let Melody’s wrist go. We didn’t tolerate someone who didn’t obey our boss’s orders,” he firmly speaks.
Frank clenched his jaw and slowly loosened the grips on her. Melody pulled her wrist and went to Damian.
She standing in front of him, clutching on the agreement paper. Her doe eyes gaze right into his, asking for help.
“Not you again,” he grunts in annoyance.
“Hey, I’m trying to save you, be grateful!” Melody huffs.
“Save” Damian arches his eyebrows.
“Yes. They are trying to blackmail you! They plan to take over everything you had and kill you,” she explains.
There’s a brief pause, then he chuckles as he hears that. He stands up and crosses his arms.
“Oh, little one. I know they have bad intentions for me. But I don’t expect what their plan is,” Damian smirks.
Melody grins, “That’s why you have to be grateful to me,”
“Yeah… grateful that you appeared with pig onesie instead of naked,” he quipped.
“I-It’s not a pig onesie! It’s a Stitch onesie from the cartoon of Lilo and Stitch!” Melody scowls.
“Pig suits you even more, like a little kid,” Damian speaks as he walks passing her.
Melody’s jaw dropped. She felt like she wanted to pull that man’s hair and bite his neck off.
Damian is standing in front of Frank, towering over him with his body. “I think I will take Melody as my arranged wife.”
“Y-You what!?” Frank’s eyes widen.
He shrugs his shoulder, “You heard me. I will take her as my wife. The clan is running in her veins. Your daughter is just some outsider. If you didn’t marry Melody’s mother, she is nothing but just some… woman,”
Teresa clenched her fist, “That’s not a good thing to say, Mr. Angelo.”
“What? I’m telling the truth. Both of you are nothing without this clan. You guys just a… outsider,” Damian added bluntly.
Frank is already fuming in anger. He couldn’t see anything but red. His sharps gaze on Melody, making him want to rip that girl’s head off.
“So, the end of discussion. I will take Melody with me. We still got our deal so, yeah,” Damian gestured for the others to go.
As they are about to leave, Frank speaks, “B-But, Melody didn’t say anything that she agreed or not!”
Damian looks at him over his shoulder. He lets out a sigh and turns to Melody. She already looks up at him.
“Are you agreed or not?” he questioned laced with annoyance as he wanted this to finish early. The longer he stays here, the longer he gets frustrated.
Melody clutched the paper on her chest. She looks at her stepfather who glares at her, signalling her not to accept it. That gaze is enough to make her tremble but this time, she has to do it.
“Yes. I-I accept it,” she nods.
Frank stands there, in shock. Did she just agree even though she knew there would be consequences for her?
“Great. If that is so, come on,” Damian smirks and walks away.
Frank and Teresa standing there in shock. They didn’t expect this will happen. Especially what Melody has done. This is the reason why Frank didn’t want her to get down.
He knows there will be a high chance of Damian choosing her. If he didn’t choose Teresa, he can’t go on with his plan.
Melody walked behind, following them silently. She couldn’t believe everything was going well. She looks at the back thinking that she finally got to escape that house.
Damian halts and makes the girl bumps on his back. She whines, rubbing her nose.
“It’s surprised me that you are Juniver’s daughter,” Damian questioned, turning to face her and crossing his muscular arms.
“Yeah, why you didn’t tell us?” Matthew leans on the car.
“Why should I? It’s not that important,” she frowns. Her father’s clan is just one of the middle-class clan. They’re not like the high-class rank of the mafia.
“Because Juniver did help my family years ago. That’s why,” Damian explains. “If I had known you the daughter of him, I don’t have to face those two scumbags.”
“Well, you can’t blame me. You can’t expect I have to tell you everything about me,” Melody rolls her eyes.
“Oh, you expect me to want to know?” he scoffs.
Melody glares at him as he says that. While they having a glaring contest, it seems like there’s a lighting that sparks between them.
“Anyway…” Victor breaks the glaring session. “You have to come with us. Since Damian has chosen you to be his contract wife.”
“As long as I can escape that house then anything,” she nods.
Frank throws the glass across the room. All the servants flinch and try not to get involved in their boss’s temper. He screams out of frustration, ruffling his hair. He had never been in this anger before.
“Dad, chill out, can you?” Teresa rolls her eyes and polishes her nails.
“Chill out?” Frank looks at her with anger, “Are you seriously asking me to chill out when my plan is fail because of that fucking bitch!?”
“I told you we should lock her up,” she sighs.
“I don’t expect Melody to do this. I don’t expect her to be this brave,” he slams his hand on the table.
Teresa lifts her gaze, “What do you expect? I’m sure she plans on doing this and not even care about the consequences.”
He lets out a deep sigh and closes his eyes for a moment. Calm down. Seeing her father in this much distress, Teresa sighs quietly before putting down her nail polish.
“Dad, I’m sure Melody will live in hell with that guy. I mean, look at him. Damian D’Angelo is known as the tyrant mafia. Do you expect her to be in heaven?” she chuckles.
Frank nods in agreement, “You might be right. But, still. I need to find the access to get closer to that guy.”
“How are you going to do that?” Teresa arches her eyebrows.
“We still got what Melody wanted this whole time,”
