Evelyn’s POv
“I’m bored,” Freyja said, she was upside down on the couch in the main room. I stared at her from the other side of the room, I was perched on a sofa they said was assigned for the alpha
I didn’t know of pack law so Freddy had excused me, I wanted to be upside down just as she was but the thought that I’d be spinning two children.
I was carrying twins.
The thought rang in my head like it was something else, I was scared, I didn’t know how to be a mother, I didn’t even have any family.
“Earth to Red!” Frey’s voice brought me out of my thoughts.
“What?” I asked her and she switched positions and snuggled deeper into the couch, her eyes met mine with interest.
“I said, do you have a romantic life? Have you had a romantic life?” She asked me, I stared at her and wondered why she had chosen one of the hardest questions to exist anywhere.
“I don’t really know how to answer that, it’s complicated I must say.” I muttered and she even looked more interested.
I decided if I was going to tell her anything it would be a watered down response with loopholes. Maybe she’ll figure it all out herself.
“Well I love complications and I even have more time,” she assured me and I sighed, pulled a pillow towards me and began to spin tales that never existed.
“I have selective amnesia, the details of my life since I was nineteen have just disappeared. Disclaimer! I don’t like to talk about my life before nineteen, I heard those years were one of my best and I even fell in love,” I explained, thinking of Jason and Alex, there were things I needed to know but it was almost impossible.
“I have heard of them, so you seriously forgot important details of your life?” She asked me and I nodded, it was pathetic but it was my reality. “And in those years you were in love?” She echoed, it sounded like something that would be her worst nightmare if it ever happened to her.
“It’s crazy, he couldn’t handle me forgetting all I knew about me and he left. He said I needed to love him really not because there was an invincible string pulling us together all the time.”
“I think he’s a jerk,” Freyja said supportively and I laughed.
“I don’t think he’s a bad person, he was just a wounded person and I needed help, he couldn’t give it then, Freddie gave me help and I think I’m forever indebted to him,” I said and Freyja laughed.
“Don’t say that in front of him, he may force you to go to the mating grounds with him and be tied forever.” Frey teased, I smelt him before I saw him, Freddie walked in from the side door just as Frey finished her warning.
“Oh my God Freyja. You know me so well,” his voice boomed sarcastically, I turned to look at him with a small smile I didn’t notice had even formed.
“Hello pretty,” he said to me and my smile broadened.
“Hey, where have you been?” Freyja asked and stood up immediately. I knew she was war, the way she stood up and picked up a pillow to toss it at him.
“I was talking to this beautiful reserved woman and not you, wolf.” He responded, catching the pillow just before it came in contact with his face.
She ignored him.”You left me here alone and left to wander, where is humanity?”
“Hurts my feeling that you don’t think I’m company,” I joked and she hurried to me and wrapped her hands around me.
“I meant no harm Red, I’m just trying to manipulate that arse of a brother.” She said and I laughed it off as she returned her attention to the troubled looking Freddie, he probably knew his sister and the drama that came with her person.
“What now?” He asked her and she sank into the chair again, I have never seen a more restless body.
He watched her do all she wanted to do with her restlessness driving her, unless I was hallucinating, I did see a hint of concern as he folded his arms over his chest and stared at her.
“I’m leaving, I have to return to New Orleans, they called it sick season and a lot of people are being admitted and they are kind of short on staff.” She explained and I watched her reluctance but I could also see she was well and truly dedicated to her job.
“Oh. That’s quick, you’ve hardly spent a week here!” Freddie said, at this time he had even forgotten I was in the room. “I mean I could make them lay you off and put you on a payroll,” he said and I saw that beneath the sound of it he probably meant it.
“Oh don’t be dramatic Fredrick, you know I love to do what I do but I also have to return. I also want to ask a question…..”
Their conversation toned down to a background noise as I heard the main door open and their butler allowed a short and portly man in, he was dressed like a mail man and sure enough he was.
“Reginald!” Freddy greeted, he sounded refined and sophisticated, exactly how I had imagined an elite to be.
“Good evening Mr Langdon, welcome back. Hello young Free,” he greeted with a huge smile on his face and she raised up her hands in greeting. He nodded at me and I smiled back, at least he had acknowledged my presence.
“Hello Regi,”
“Alpha you have a message,” he said and pulled his backpack front, he searched for something inside and finally pulled out a letter.
“Who is it from?” He asked.
“A stranger sir. He says he has information about Jeremy,” the mail man whom I now knew was Reginald said and I watched as both brother and sister stood up immediately.
“Did you just say Jeremy!”
