Jason’s POV
I arrived in New Orleans with a heavy heart and confused brain, I had an apartment there. Alex liked to joke that I had an apartment everywhere, but that was not true, I didn’t have one in California, Virginia and North Carolina.
It took me merely a day to set up and place my clothes in a wardrobe. Did I block out everybody’s number? Yes. Did I hope I’d receive a call from anybody at all to know where I was? Yes, yes I did.
I had work today, it was going to officially be my first day at work. I checked it out two days ago and I even got acquainted with almost every member of the staff committee and the only one I had not met had been because she was away for a one week leave.
Charm had been hard to pull off but they had seemed to like my quiet aloofness. I even heard someone says ‘he’s so cold and handsome.’ My grief was their amusement.
I already got a cleaning lady who would come in once a week to do a little cleaning around the house. I mostly ate out but I was good, wasn’t starving and I knew I could cook up a storm if the need arose.
I ran my hands through my hair and was once again grateful for great genes. I knew one other person who had always praised my good genes but then, I wasn’t sure she would even remember doing that.
I missed her so much.
I picked up my coat and walked over to my vehicle, I had gotten a new ford. This was my pathetic attempt at starting life all over again.
New Orleans had a different look about it, it was placed at the same time rowdy and the air was different. Miami was wilder and more noisy, I somehow even got used to the night life.
My car stirred into the driveway and I parked in a vacant corner next to what looked like a recycle bin but it was bigger and shaped like a bottle.
Louis St Ville hospital, Harvey, New Orleans.
I remembered when Alex had joked about me bringing back a souvenir for him. I wondered how he was doing and if he was still mad at me.
“Hello sir!” A short security guard greeted as I passed the glass doors of the hospital, I smiled back and continued on. Patients lined up in the waiting room and I saw distress and pain in their eyes. I have already been given an office but I went back over to the reception instead.
“Hello, how can I help you?” A stern looking nurse with the name tag ‘Nancy Bill’ asked and I stared intently at her.
“Dr Jason Bane,” I said shortly and she immediately understood. I always used Bane because I found Wolfsbane to be unnecessarily lengthy. I also didn’t want anybody locating me so easily.
“Here are your keys doc, last office. Welcome to Louis St Ville,” she said and I nodded at her.
I didn’t want to regret this.
Alex’s POV
The best way to deal with a situation you didn’t Abeg control over was to be patient, if it is a situation where there’s an opponent involved it is also the same advice, but with one more twist. Know your opponent’s weakness and work on it.
Alex had watched Jeremy for a day and he knew he was paranoid, when the door opened he jolted, when Jessica sneezed, he jolted and when Delo opened his wide mouth to speak he jolted then snapped at him.
“Are you alright?” I asked Jessica, and she nodded, she looked tired and weak because she had been giving me all of her portion.
We had a plan, we had been here for 38 hours and looking at my servants as they wronged and wrought in pain only made me so angry.
I was taking all of their portion so I could fight back, my wolf was the strongest and the wolf’s bane he had given to me was wearing off, I needed strength.
“Just take the damn thing,” she ordered and I did, Jeremy was plotting, lost in his thoughts and Delo was asleep behind them. They had some back up but they weren’t in here.
Jeremy probably believed he could handle them all, why else did he not have guards on standby. I signaled at one of the pack guards who stood next to him to toss the pen.
He kicked it on my signal and Jeremy jumped, before he could seek out who had thrown the pen Jessica let out a short cry and he jolted again, it happened so fast and he was caught up in his own thoughts and it was my cue to strike.
I wolfed out immediately, jumped on him and sunk my teeth into his neck. I went for Delo next when I managed to get Jeremy to the ground. Delo was dumber and easier to bring down.
I returned to Jeremy and made sure he was unconscious before I tied him up and tucked him at a side. I wanted so badly to beat Delo to unconsciousness.
“I’ll keep him for further questioning.” I explained to no one in particular.
“Just release us,” Jessica snapped and I decided to leave her as the last to be released.
It was either the guards downstairs didn’t know something was cooking up here or they were plain dumb. He clearly wasn’t ready because why else would you be unvigilant?
“You guys are on probation for forever.” I released my head guard and the rest of the staff, they all snuck around the pack house finding strength rejuvenation.
They were prepared when the cowards ran upstairs in twos, in average they were up to twenty. The guards were ready this time and I quickly took Jessica back to the door and turned my eyes to her.
“Go home to your family, make sure they’re alright” I ordered and she shook her head.
“I’m not leaving if you’re not,”
“Don’t try to argue….” The sound of a gunshot rang loud from upstairs and I was immediately alarmed we shared a look of horror before she took off.
“This is so crazy,”
