Evelyn’s Pov
“Don’t say a thing,” I grounded and he chuckled, he wouldn’t say a thing, I knew him. Okay not exactly knew but I did know he wouldn’t want to make me anything but upset.
We stood at the gas station and he filled up our tank. A group of biker guys came towards the tower, they were handsome in their own rights and I wondered if I had an artistic side.
Analyzing their tattoos and appreciating the brashness of their cheeks and the toughness of their arms. I felt an urge to draw them but before I could take my eyes off them by myself Freddy stole my attention.
“What are you looking at? Take your eyes off them” He snapped at me and I saw a hardness he hadn’t shown to me since after that first evening that I saw him in Miami.
His eyes were darker and his jaw was flexing, almost like he was angry. A psychopath?
“Calm down, they just looked interesting,” I said defensively, my eyes meeting his. He wouldn’t do anything to me.
“I have luxurious cars, they came with mere motorcycles, what do you find interesting about them?” He asked me and I was taken aback by his dramatics.
“It’s not that deep Freddy, they just look different.” I insisted, he stared at me for sometime as if contemplating a decision.
“Wait here,” he ordered and walked away from me to the men, they had tattoos all over their sleeves and if I was being honest looked way tougher than Freddy.
They all turned to look at him at the same time and from where I stood I could hear what was being said and from the looks on their face they weren’t particularly happy with him being there.
“You lots have to move away, you’re making my girl uncomfortable,” he said and I raised an amused brow. What was he doing?
“Your girl should probably look elsewhere, punk!” The chubbiest of them offered aggressively and I didn’t think I was blind but I saw his fists clench and unclench.
“Talk to your friend, you lot should move, the station is big enough,” he said again, his voice was cold and domineering. I wondered how they weren’t scared because I was on their behalf.
“What are you going to do about it if we don’t?” The fatter one said again and I watched as Freddy stepped forward towards him. I wanted to stop him from being crazy but I didn’t know how he was going to respond to me interfering in his fight affairs.
“Run Darryl, he’s Don Fredo! The one from Miami,” the one that had been quiet finally announced, he looked like he had been thinking of something the whole time and now the thing had clicked.
“Oh my! It is him!” The silly guy said and looked like he was going to pee his pants.
Who was Don Fredo? The one from Miami Don Fredo and not the one who was sweet to me and gave me piggy back rides whenever I mentioned I was tired?
“Run!” The bikers called as they hurried to the bike, I saw Freddy move like he wanted to go after them but stopped and turned to look at him.
Science. How fast does one’s emotion switch?
“That was intense,” I commented as he came towards me. He looked at me, his dark eyes glinting in the semi evening sky. He smiled just before he got to me and then I was no longer on the ground, he was carrying me.
“What is wrong with you!! Let me down!” I screeched, half amused, half scared and wary.
He placed me in the front seat of the car and slammed the door, he finished the car tank and I fancied myself attracted to him. Attracted to the danger, to the rough edge, to the way his brows cocked up when he gave threats and I wanted him, I wanted him so bad that my tummy kicked, was that the baby or my desire?
“We ride now,” he growled and slipped in the driver’s seat, my stomach kicked again and I knew it was him. Truly and utterly him in all his form.
“Are you okay?” He asked when I didn’t say anything. I was mute as I couldn’t muster a word.
Alex’s Pov
I was bored, and because I was bored I left my hotel and went to another hotel. There were dancing girls and after my fifth drink I felt disgusted because their alcohol was like watered down whiskey even the Bloody Mary was not quite bloody.
“Why’s a handsome man seated like some plank on a Friday night?” The voice said, it was clear and familiar and my eyes darkened. It was Melinda.
“I thought they ran you out of town?” I asked her and took another shot of adulterated whiskey.
“I don’t fear anybody,” she muttered and I knew she was lying.
I couldn’t quite forgive her for trying to drown Evelyn, I hadn’t been there but she was naughty, fetish and naughty and therefore I believe there’s nothing she can’t do.
“That’s a lie,” I cleared her and she sighed, dropping down to the seat next to me.
“Yeah. One of the girls told me he had left town together with your sweethearts. Does he know you’re also in love with her?” She asked me and the drink almost fell from my hands, I turned to look at her in horror and she looked smug.
Her make up was perfect and her lips were fuller.
“Who told you that? You now eat rumors?” I asked her, trying to deflect.
“Don’t even pretend with me, I saw your book, I checked for you in the cold room before I went to your penthouse. She matched the description of that mystery girl in your book and I wanted to kill her immediately.” She confessed and I felt my rage pass, it didn’t last long.
“You did try to kill her,” I reminded her and she shrugged.
“I still want you though,” she muttered and her hands went up my thighs, right there in the open bar she grabbed me. I didn’t wince, I would look foolish so I didn’t.
I stood up instead and grabbed a chunk of her hair tugging it backwards.
“You asked for this.”
I led her to a room in the hotel and she followed, her heels clinching on the tiled floor.
I opened the door and we entered. I pushed her to the door and unclasped my belt.
“Rough.” I informed her and she giggled, compliant and foolish.
My tie went out and I held her hands together, soon she was naked and I spread her legs. I didn’t have interest in teasing her, I slid into her and we rocked in perfect familiar harmony, it didn’t feel divine, I didn’t have butterflies either.
But as I had sex with her it wasn’t her I was thinking of and it wasn’t even Evelyn, the supposed love of my life.
My mind was I was searching for Jessica even as we came together, I let out a low growl.
“Jess,”
