Over the next two weeks, Cade received more text messages like that and the police insisted that since it was nothing serious or deathly then he was still safe and could continue with his normal life. They did not intend to begin to make a big deal out of what was nothing in the finest place,
They had spent the remaining days with Cade trying so hard to be a part of what was going on while trying to navigate the emotions he was feeling that came along with the text. The texter was bombarding his phone with at least six to seven messages per time of the day. Sometimes at the end of the day, he received up to thirty or more messages.
Ophelia had noticed his demeanour but she had tried to make up for his attitude by being extra with the pda in the public. They were finally on their way back to Rosewood City. Ophelia could only hope that it would get better for them both now that they were on their way home. Maybe the worrisome thing that had kept Cade so edgy all through the trip would be rectified soon.
“Welcome back Mrs Vale? Ms Frost?” Diana said as she came to pick Ophelia up from the airport.
Cade had said that he had urgent matters to tend to so they had to go separately. His assistant had come to pick him up since Ophelia had not been aware of the chances before she had not called Diana beforehand. Diana had gotten the message from Ophelia and had to leave everything to get to the airport in time to get her.
“Vale?” Ophelia asked with disgust as though the name was a bitter drug in her mouth. “I don’t want to hear that name” she added handing her bag over to Diana.
“Then should I call you Ms Frost?” Diana asked confused. “I do not think I should call you that since you are now legally married, you have even been on your honeymoon as well”
“Names names names” Ophelia said as she tilted her head. “Do I have to pick a side?” she added in a question. “Can’t I be both?” she concluded. Diana could sense that there was something wrong somewhere and she knew that the least she could do was to find out about it so if it were something she needed to take care of she could do so immediately.
“Let us get to the car and you can tell me about it there” Diana said taking her to the car. She knew that she had to come back for the baggage as soon as Ophelia was settled in the car.
“Oh whatever” Ophelia said moving ahead of her. Diana dropped her off at the car and went ahead to get the luggage before coming back to the car.
“Where to?” she asked sliding into the car.
“First to shopping” Ophelia asked looking out the window. “It is good to be back home” she said rolling the window down and sniffing the air.
“Do you want me to switch off the aircon?” Diana asked as she watched her look out the window as though nostalgia hit her.
“Are you crazy?” Ophelia asked turning to the lady sitting in the driver’s seat. “Of course not” she said rolling up the window and gesturing for her to drive on.
“Okay, now where to?” Diana asked again.
“Are there any new arrivals? Something cute and chic that must be added to my wardrobe?” she asked as the car started.
“I am not sure about that”
“You should be on your game and know all about these topics,” Ophelia said feeling angry at her.
“Why are you angry?” Diana asked hoping to know why she was on the edge so she could pacify her.
“I don’t know, everything just seems annoying” she muttered to herself.
Diana knew that this was probably because of something that had happened during the trip, but she was not going to dig any further as long as it did not affect the image of their family or the company then she was okay with the situation.
“Instead of being sad all by myself, I will shop and get cute new things” Ophelia said loudly almost startling.
By the time Ophelia got back home it was pitch black out, she had kept the store open all night to serve her, she was sure that though they might have complaints she had covered them all with her huge spend for the night. She had purposely stalled outside so she did not have to face Cade but at the same time she wanted to see him to make sure he was all better than when they had parted ways in the morning.
She unlocked the door and pushed it open and a weird cold air hit her, she had left her entire shopping bags in the car, help was coming tomorrow so she was going to let them bring it in instead. The air in the house felt strange because it was not like someone else had come in before her. It was like an empty house.
“He has not come home yet?” she asked herself as she glanced at the clock. “This late?” she said again to herself taking a deep breath. She wondered if he had a mountain load of work to do or if it was something different from what she was thinking.
“Do I need to call him?” she muttered to herself. She took up her phone and clicked on it until she found his name. She gulped hard contemplating her next line of action. She did not know what to do. If he was at work she did not want to be a nuisance and call him while he was busy.
He had been away for two weeks so surely he would have a lot to catch up on. “I will call him tomorrow,” she said to herself as she walked to the room.
“Tomorrow”
