“What are you staring at?” Cade screamed using his hand to cover up his upper body.
“Your chest” she said pointing to his chest. She could not deny but his body was well built that she could not tear her eyes from them even though her brain was telling her to do so.
‘Stop looking then” he said feeling shy that she was staring at him so blatantly.
“How?” she asked almost drooling. Cade knew that when she came to her senses this would be an embarrassing moment for them both.
“Close the door” he whispered. She stepped into the room and closed the door slowly like she was under a kind of spell. “And stop looking” he added to see if maybe it would work.
“Yes” she muttered still staring at him before randomly breaking off her stare and staring down at her feet. He knew now that she had come to herself. “Umm excuse me,” she said walking rapidly to the room and shutting the door.
“WHAT WAS THAT?” she screamed to herself from the room. Cade heard the scream and jumped on the spot. He knew that he should have been more careful. Maybe he should have dressed in the bathroom instead of walking out to the living room with nothing on but a towel.
At that moment he was grateful that the towel did not lose and fall to the ground otherwise he knew he would have felt the peak of embarrassment. He quickly changed his dress dropping his phone to the table and not attending to the incoming text that had distracted him. He put on a button-up shirt and some khaki trousers.
“Ophelia” he said knocking on the door of the room and waiting for a response.
“Yeah,” she replied trying to make her voice sound as smooth as possible. There was no need for him to know how embarrassed she felt by the interaction they had just had. She was the one who stared at him when she could have played it cool and left with ease but there was something beautiful about his body that she could not look away from.
“What are the details of the dinner?” he asked.
“I will text that to you” She could not possibly come out to see him. If anything she would want to avoid him for the entire trip but how bad would she look to ghost out on the all plans she had made after she made a big deal out of it earlier?
“Oh what time is it?” he asked.
“Soon” she responded as she paced the floor.
“So should I wait out here for a text?”
She wanted to tell him to read the room and he wanted to tell her not to be embarrassed he was going to act like nothing happened. “Cade?” she said slowly and quietly.
“Yeah?” he asked moving closer to the door even though it was visibly impossible to do so.
“About earlier…” she trailed off. She could not believe she had embarrassed herself so hard and now she had to bring it up to ask him to forget about it.
“What happened earlier” she gasped not believing that he was going to do this now. Did she have to spill it to him for him to know that she wanted him to forget about it?
“You know… earlier,” she said moving closer to the door. Cade could tell she was moving around nervously because of the sound of her feet on the ground.
“Nothing happened,” he said. In that moment Ophelia felt like jumping onto him and giving him a big hug. This was exactly what she wanted him to do and he did so well.
“Or did something happen that I have to know about?” he followed up.
“Nothing happened,” she said with a sigh of relief.
“Cade,” she said after a few moments of silence.
“Yeah?”
“Thank you” she muttered. This was the second time he looked out for her and she had to admit that he knew what he was doing.
“Of course, I will never use what just happened to tease my good friend and I hope one day we can laugh about it as well,” he said. She rolled her eyes knowing he was trying to joke about the situation even though he was extremely terrible at it.
“Still Thank you”
“Of course, we can not have the Ophelia Frost embarrassed” he added.
“Okay that is enough” she said and then the both of them burst into a fit of small coordinated laughter as if they were on a TV show.
“Do you feel better now?” he asked as the laughter died off.
“Yeah I do” she said grateful for what he had just done.
“Okay, then you have to get out of there and let us go get something to eat. I am starving and I am sure you are as well” he said and she nodded even though she knew he could not see her. “And we have an entire nation to impress with our lifestyle as well”
“Give me a moment then let me change out of these clothes”
“Can I look as well?” he asked teasingly.
“Only if you can handle it”
To Ophelia what was going on between them was flirting because his asking to look did not sound like something someone would say to tease the other party.
“I am pretty sure I can handle it, my only worry is how flustered you would be,” he said and she had to give it to him for handling the situation pretty well.
“I will be out in a jiffy” she said changing the topic so it did not get all weird and then they were stuck between making out or slapping each other across the face to wake up from the dream and be in touch with reality.
“Okay then” he said going to sit on the couch waiting for her. A few minutes later she was out the door and muttering a few words.
“I think I would go for a natural look instead” she said hoping on one foot as she jogged to stand in front of him.
“How do I look?”
