Hunter POV.
I didn’t mean to hit him, well I did mean to hit him, but I didn’t mean to hurt him that badly, but I clearly did, that got my mate mad, very mad at me for what I did, and then punishing our little didn’t sit well with him either, I felt like I’m being sent to the dog house for the next couple days.
“Logan, come on, what did you expect me to do?” I ask my mate, good thing the child wasn’t along with us, seeing the fight we’re having right now would be very disturbing for her.
“Not to hit him, if you end up in trouble and then William decides we’re not fit to have a little,” he reminds me, not every vampire out there is allowed to have a human, some don’t want humans, and others are too violent to have one yet, maybe in a year or ten.
“It won’t be that bad, I messed up but in my defence, he had my little in his place,” I defend myself.
“Hunter, you’re a detective, you should know these things. What if they ask where you were? Why didn’t you keep a better eye on your little one? If she was lost and Ryan saved her, then he should be thanked and not hit,” Logan says making me groan, I turned to him with a glare, he was right, if I was in the opposite seat, I wouldn’t take it easy on the one who lost their little and hit the other guy even if it was a guy that’s red, a master to a slave.
“Fuck Logan, I’m fucked,” I say with a groan.
“And it’s not the kind of fucking you like,” Logan says and I rolled my eyes at him.
“I’m screwed, I got it,” I say knowing that I might get away from this or I’m totally screwed, it depends on what Ryan does, he might just let it go.
I hoped and prayed that he’d let it go, but who knows, I drove my mate to his work first, parked in front of the D&L company, and then let him out, he turned to me with a softer look on his face.
“I’m sure nothing bad would happen, I love you, Detective Dark,” Logan says giving me a kiss right on the mouth.
“Give me a heads up if you hear anything,” I say knowing that he’d hear about things even before me since he works in the same place as Ryan and he’s the head of his department.
“I’ll keep an ear out for you,” Logan assures me, I knew I mated him for a reason.
“Bye love,” I say giving him an air kiss as he leaves the car.
After I dropped him over at his work, I kept on driving to my work, we have been moved to the headquarters since we took over and everyone is back to their job, our work is making sure everyone is safe, and that the roads are being monitored along with our old kind of detective job along with any kind of new job Dylan could think of, William is my mate’s boss but Dylan is ours.
Dylan loves to ask about my little girl, she’s been through some stuff and he fell in love with her just the same way as us, but he wasn’t ready to settle down with a brand new little who didn’t know she’s a little yet, he had a couple of his own and he wasn’t ready for another one.
“Good morning,” I say walking in, I should have brought some dounuts, even vampire like donuts and I know there’s a shop that makes killer blood donuts, but I didn’t want to look too suspicious.
I wasn’t called off or told to get to Dylan’s office during the morning so I knew I was off the hook well for now at least, I should send Ryan an apology basket, I wasn’t sure what to do, for now, I was buried in paperwork, Logan decided he wants to open a school and I’m stuck with the paperwork.
We can’t just run around running a school, we need protection, we need security and we need to make sure everyone is safe and happy, that’s a tone of paperwork and since it’s my mate’s idea, I’m the one who got to go through the paperwork, it’s our internal rule, you deal with your mate and the bullshit amount of paperwork we have to go through.
“Hello,” I answered my phone, it was a number that I didn’t recognize, but I hoped it was nothing too bad, and not a call about last night’s accident.
“Mr. Black, you’re Angel’s daddy right,” a lady answers me, it wasn’t the babysitter we left the girl with this morning.
“It is,” I say waiting for the question to come.
“Angel should be brought to the clinic to get her physical examination and dental,” she says and I sighed in relief, why didn’t they call Logan?
“Sure, do I call back to set a date?” I ask her.
“A date would be automatically set, and you’ll be sent a message soon, this call is just to explain that the visit is mandatory,” she says explaining the reason why she called me.
“Of course, we’ll be there,” I say ending the call.
I wasn’t sure why I was too nervous, Ryan wouldn’t do anything, I shouldn’t be that worried about him, and things would go well, he gets off on being hurt, on feeling pain, or was it he gets off on inflicting pain, whichever works for him, I tried to calm down, but before I got too calm, I called the babysitter to make sure that my Angel was okay.
“Hey, it’s Hunter, is Angel doing well?” I asked her to call to check it, it’s the first time she got grounded or punished and I’m too worried about how she might have reacted.
“I just managed to put her down for a nap, Logan’s advice worked,” she says.
“Logan?” I ask not understanding what she meant.
“He called earlier, he suggested giving her the fox teddy bear, that helped her nap right away,” the babysitter assures me.
“Thank you, Blair,” I say thanking her, ending the call and going back to my work, the day was slow and more paperwork had to be filled, I groaned and was ready to spank Logan for all the paperwork he had me doing for him now.
“Hey, Hunter, Dylan wants to see you,” one of the guys called me, I gave him a raised brow and he just shrugged.
“Any idea what for?” I ask just to be sure.
“Probably a thing to do with your mate’s school, he got ten names signed already,” he says and I smile, I bet that would make Logan very happy.
“I’m coming,” I say getting off of my chair and leaving my office to go toward Dylan’s office, he’s an all-hand-on-board kind of boss, and he’s always around, I got to his office and knocked first waiting for him to allow me in.
I wasn’t sure what he thinks of the classes maybe he’s okay with them and maybe he’s mad at what happened, we’ll see when I get in and talk to him.
“Come in,” he says, and I open the door going in, expecting to just see Dylan, but I saw Ryan sitting in the office with him, and my heart fell, I knew things were going down from there.
“You called for me?” I ask him.
“Take a seat,” Dylan says in a cold voice and I knew I was screwed.
“Yes?” I say taking a seat and looking at them with worry, this is the part where my life might end, or my career.
“Ryan told me you two had a confrontation this morning,” Dylan says and that’s not the best description of what we had.
“He came in my house and punched me, more than once,” Ryan says whining like a child.
“You’re red, you love pain,” I say looking at him with a fake smile.
“I inflict it, and not like that,” Ryan says pointing to his face which was completely healed now.
“You don’t even have a bruise,” I say pointing to his face.
“Why did you hit him, Hunter? You’re not one of the violent ones, but today you’ve done it for the second time, hit Ryan,” he says pointing to Ryan as if he’s the one hurt in here, I knew he was the victim, but there’s a reason.
“There’s a reason,” I assure him.
“And what’s that?” Dylan asks me.
“He had my little over at his place,” I say, walking right into the hole that I just dug.
“And why was your little human over at Ryan’s? Did she run away? Was she lost? Are they friends?” Dylan asks.
“She didn’t run away, we had a long night and she slipped early in the morning,” I say not really knowing how she ended up at Ryan’s place.
“I invited her along with another little that’s my friend over for coffee,” Ryan says.
“He can’t be around littles, he’s red,” I say trying to get the blame shifted onto him.
“He can’t be around them as their dom, but as a friend I don’t see anything wrong with it, and he took care of your little while you slept,” Dylan says and I have walked straight into this one.
“Is he getting some kind of punishment?” Ryan asks, he got in trouble because of us earlier and now he’s trying to get back at us.
“You and your mate are to be enrolled in that school you got everyone working on, and you’re going to be attending anger management class,” Dylan says and I gritted my teeth with anger.
“I don’t need anger management class,” I answer him with gritted teeth.
“It’s the classes or the human can find another vampire to adopt her,” Dylan threatened me, using the one thing that I loved the most, my Angel.
“Fine, I’ll take the class,” I say taking that order with a lot of salt.
“And you’re going to sign this restriction order, you’re not to be near Ryan, touch Ryan, or talk to Ryan,” Dylan says.
“Now that’s bullshit,” I say pushing the order away from me.
“It’s not, it’s our protocol, it’s what we do when someone hits another vampire, you know that,” Dylan says reminding me of what we usually do.
“I won’t,” I say.
“Then the human would be taken away and you’ll be put under supervision, until further notice,” he says.
“But I’m fit to have a human,” I say to him in a cold voice.
“You don’t look like it,” he says pointing to Ryan, meaning when I hit him.
“This is blackmail,” I say signing the paper.
“This protocol,” Dylan says again taking the paper away dismissing us from his office.
