Angel POV.
I was stuck on the Y and Z names, who names their kids anything that starts with Y or Z, those were some of the trickiest names and I can’t find them, I don’t know if there were too many names that start with the letter Z or just not enough for me to finish them quickly.
I heard the phone on my desk ringing, it made me jump up, I looked at it as if it was poisonous, I didn’t dare to answer it, I was terrified.
“Answer the phone please,” the green bracelet says, and I nod, picking the phone up and placing it over my ear.
“Hello,” I say with fear going through my body, I didn’t know what to say, what if they asked me something that I didn’t know how to answer the phone, what if I’m asked about something or expected to send the call to Logan?
“Angel, come to my office, whatever you got put it away until tomorrow,” Logan ordered me in a firm voice, I placed everything into their piles and got my ID and phone ready to leave the office and work for the day.
“Goodbye,” I say to the rest as I walk toward Logan’s office, I am exhausted but the day is finally over, I get my time off, and I walk toward his office, knocking first before going in.
“Take a seat, Angel, we’re gonna talk,” he says with a sigh, he looked even more exhausted than me, he loosened up his tie and looked at me tiredly.
“What’s up?” I ask him, thinking I’m getting kicked out before the day ends.
“You’re gonna have to tell me, how was your day?” he asks me.
“My day was okay,” I say.
“No, details, other than the system, you talked to people, and no one has been mean to you, I need to know, I’m the boss of this department, and it’s my job to make sure that you’re safe and that no one is being mean to you,” he explains to me.
“I’m okay, no one has been mean to me,” I say again, the day was boring except for the paperwork that took the whole damn day.
“Good, now in here I’m the one in charge, and that includes you, you’ll have to come to work and leave whenever I’m here, the timing isn’t always the same as the bus, I know for now you’re finishing my paperwork but after that, you’re gonna spend a lot longer time with me. So in conclusion, I’ll be the one driving you to work and back, if not me personally, a driver sent by me,” he says and my mouth fell into an o shape, I didn’t expect that.
“Okay,” I say, waiting for his next order, not sure where to go next, do I go to the bus or wait for him to drive me home?
“We’re done working for the day, come on, I’ll drive you home, who’s in charge of you?” he asked me as we left his office, we didn’t leave through the front door, instead we went even lower into the parking lot, we got toward his car, a very fancy car, he opened the door for me, and then sat in his driver seat.
“Can I drive my own car?” I asked him, I used to drive all the time, and I can drive here and back home no matter the time.
“No, for now, the answer is not, later on, not sure,” he says, so there’s a chance for me to drive again, and I’d love to drive myself here and back home.
“You didn’t answer me, who’s in charge of you?” he asks me again.
“You?” I say not really sure, he’s my boss in here.
“No, at home, who’s the mama hen of your home?” he asks, that was the perfect name for Evelyn, she was acting like that.
“Evelyn,” I say with a smile on my face.
“Ah you even got one of the better ones, Evelyn is my old friend,” he says with a smile.
“How old?” I asked him, I knew Dylan was old, very old.
“Older than you know,” he says, but I knew some old people, well old vampires.
“I can be trusted with number, Dylan told me how old he is,” I say.
“I can’t tell you, sweetie, Evelyn would have my head and your ass for it,” he explains to me, and I blushed.
“That’s mean,” I comment.
He drove me home and parked his car, I was ready to leave the car but he got out of the car too, he joined me in the walk toward the building, the security nodded to me, but said proper hello to Logan as we walked in, he, knew exactly what floor we were on, but he didn’t know which one was ours, so I had to point him into the apartment.
“Do you like it here? Do you want to wash up or change into more cosy clothes?” Logan asks me, I wanted to do both, but I’d be waiting until he leaves.
“No, I’m good, and I like it here, it’s nice and all,” I answer him.
“Go change, get comfortable, you had a long day, I’ll go find Evelyn and then get home to rest as well,” he says.
“Where do you live? Here?” I ask him.
“No, I have my own place and not in this building, but I can crash over some friends if needed, but home sounds better,” he says with a tired smile.
“Okay, bye Logan, see you tomorrow,” I say.
“I’ll tell Evelyn you’re gonna miss breakfast tomorrow, we’re gonna have breakfast before work,” he says with a smile leaving the place.
I walked toward our bedroom, got some comfortable clothes out of the closet and walked toward the shower, I took a very hot and comforting shower, and when I was done, I walked out and saw that Nala and Katie were in the room now.
“Hey girls, when did you two come here?” I ask them.
“I’ve been home for hours, we were spending time with the other girls, they are nice,” Nala says.
“Did you have fun staying at home Katie?” I ask her and she nods her head yes.
“She told me all about it, Evelyn told her to colour,” Nala speaks for her.
“Did you like spending time with the other girl too?” I ask Katie.
“Yeah, everyone is nice, we watched TV as well, and Miss Evelyn promised to take us out tomorrow,” Katie.
“My day was filled with paperwork,” I say with a small smile, going to sit on my bed, I placed my back against the pillow not to sleep, just to rest a bit, but my phone decided to ring, disturbing my rest.
“Hello,” I say without looking at who the caller is.
“Hey, Angel, Logan said that you’re out of work, how did the day go? Did he make you work too much? If he did you just tell me,” he says through the phone, it was Dylan.
“I got home a bit ago, he drove me here,” I tell him, confessing the truth.
“Good job, he’s supposed to be driving you there and back,” he says.
“Dylan, are you scaring my boss?” I asked him with a raised brow although he couldn’t see me, I didn’t want him to keep on scaring my boss, I wanted to be like the others, I wanted to be normal, and just be treated as anyone else.
“What? Scaring Logan? It’s not possible, don’t believe the blue code, he’s a scary guy,” Dylan says.
“I tried to understand what code blue means, but I’m not getting it yet, it’s a lifestyle?” I ask him.
“Yes, it’s a lifestyle, every colour stands for a lifestyle, you’ll know more about it, but we don’t want to scare you by just telling you everything at once, it takes a bit of time,” he says explaining things to me.
“What do green stands for? A guy at work today was green and he sounded scared,” I ask him.
“Green is like… how do I explain this, have you ever played with a puppy? A very energetic puppy?” he asks me.
“I didn’t have one, but I have been around them,” I answer him.
“Green is like that, imagine being around someone who’s just like an energetic puppy, they act like one, jump all excited and are happy like ones,” he says.
“Okay, but what is Blue like?” I ask him again, trying to know a tiny bit more about me.
“I’ll tell you that one later, maybe you can figure it out by yourself,” he says.
“You’re a vampire,” I say copying the movies.
“I’m one,” he says laughing.
“You know what Angel, I watched that movie, it used to be a book, I think I still have it, if I ever end up finding it, I’ll give it to you,” he says.
“Really? Really!” I say excitedly sitting up in the bed, not feeling tired anymore.
“Yes, of course, now you go have a good evening, I’ll talk to you later,” Dylan says ending the call, it was dinner, and sleep for me, I was too tired to stay up and watch a movie with the rest, the fear and excitement of the day had the best of me, plus there’s a lot of paperwork waiting for me tomorrow.
