Angel POV.
“Hey, Angel, little child,” someone says shaking me awake, I groaned and whined, I hadn’t been asleep for long, but I knew as hell I wasn’t done sleeping either, I was ready to get some more sleep.
“Grrr,” I say unable to wake up.
“Okay, sleep, but I’m gonna have a work with your boss,” she says, it’s a woman’s voice that’s been talking to me trying to get me to wake up, she wants to talk to my boss, she can do that, I don’t care as long I get to sleep.
I woke up the next morning to an alarm, it was my phone although I didn’t set an alarm last night, or maybe I did, I can’t remember, but I slept well tonight and I got my chance to rest. I opened my eyes and turned the alarm off, my phone had a message on it, I looked at it and saw it said ‘Breakfast meeting with Logan,’ so it was a reminder of why I was awake right now.
I got to the bathroom first and did my business washing up, I tried to fix my hair, Nala knows how to do hers, maybe if she’s awake by the time I’m done she can style mine somehow for me.
I picked clothes for the day, I got to go to work, but it’s also a meeting with the boss, what do you wear when you’re meeting the boss for breakfast? This job didn’t come with instructions or a what-to-wear manual, I had to search the closet and pick something, I decided to wear a dress today, it’s a nice dress not too fancy, just sporty enough to be wearable at work, for shoes, there were a couple options, but I only liked sneakers and vans, I can’t walk in heels.
“Hey, you up early,” Nala says, as I was almost ready.
“I need help with my hair, do you mind?” I ask her giving her my best puppy’s eyes ever, I need help.
“Sit down,” she said, I sat on her bed and she began to style my hair, she knew how to do it in a matter of minutes.
“Ready to go, where are you going?” she asks me.
“I got breakfast meeting with my boss,” I confess, it wasn’t anything to lie about.
“Ohh with the hot boss of yours?” she asks me.
“He’s hot but he’s just my boss,” I remind her, he can’t be anything more than my boss.
“Hey, listen up, you got some time?” she asks me, and I nod, I wasn’t sure what time I should leave, but I knew that I’d be told to get out when it’s time to go.
“I think yeah,” I answer her, wanting to hear what kind of information she got.
“Well I heard some rumours on my floor, that we’re all going to end up with vampires, but they aren’t all too nice, you got to pick the nice one and they better be the same colour as you,” she says, she got the same information as me so far.
“I heard that, do you have any idea about categories yet?” I ask her, hoping she got some more than what I found out.
“Hide from black and red, I’m telling you hide, I met a red yesterday and they scared the hell out of me, he kept talking about eating me alive and I don’t think he just meant blood,” she whispers.
“Oh, that’s bad, avoid red, agreed,” I say nodding my head, I know Logan was blue, so it’s safe to be around him.
“Yeah, I need to shower, you slept last night, Evelyn was really mad that you didn’t eat before bed,” Nala says.
“I didn’t even know I was that tired, but turns out I’m exhausted,” I say, the work and everything that happened that day had me worried and scared, and anxious after everything I fell head first into bed.
“Make sure you eat tonight then,” she says, I nod, and my phone starts ringing, it’s Logan.
“Hello,” I say answering my boss on the phone.
“Hey, Angel, I’m downstairs waiting for you,” he says and I leave the room happily, I knock on the bathroom door saying bye to Nala as I leave and run out of the house, closing the door behind me, waiting for the elevator to get here.
The door opened but it wasn’t empty when I walked in I saw a guy standing in there, I smiled and stepped in, he looked at me, and then at my bracelet with a smile on his face, is he blue too? I hoped he was not red, Nala scared me by talking about them, I’ll have to ask Dylan about it later on.
“You’re new here,” he says, we’re all new in here, that was a stupid question, I only nodded at him, not really answering.
“I got to go, bye,” I say when the elevator doors open, I was ready to run out and go see Logan, scared and worried of him.
“Where are you going? Work doesn’t start yet, you need a permission slip from a vampire, and I’m here to help,” he says.
“My boss is here, he’ll get me out,” I say trying to get him to leave me alone.
“Where are you going blue wrist?” the security guy asks me.
“My boss is waiting for me,” I answer him.
“I need the name, and they need to sign the slip paper, run back up there and get Evelyn to call me,” he orders.
“Okay,” I say, on the verge of tears, I didn’t want that vampire to be right, I could just go up there and get Evelyn.
“No need for that, I’ll be signing her out,” Logan says walking toward us, the security hands him the slip that he signed to get me out of here.
“I don’t remember seeing a slip yesterday. Do I have to do that every day?” I asked Logan as I got in the car with him.
“They’ll get used to seeing you coming in and out in a short while and you won’t need the slip anymore,” he answers me.
“What if I want to go shopping?” I say feeling kind of frustrated.
“Then Evelyn would talk to them,” he says.
“Why?” I say angrily, what’s all of these for?
“It’s just for your safety baby girl, we need to make sure our code blue is always safe,” Logan says, eyes on the road.
“Is it the same for the rest?” I ask him, the anger still present in my voice.
“Yes, all the humans, for the first while at least, until everyone gets settled,” he says, it’s for our safety, I should believe him, probably.
“Okay,” I say agreeing with him, he kept on driving until we got to some fancy restaurant, he parked the car in front of it and got out, throwing the key to the valet.
“Let’s go in, Angel,” Logan says guiding the way inside the restaurant, we were guided toward our table right away, he didn’t have to say his name or anything, the waitress knew him.
“Is the waiter human?” I whisper to him.
“Yes, most of the workers are, the ones in charge are vampires,” he answers me.
“Okay,” I say, he got a menu and looked through it.
“You want me to order for you, or you good picking? I know that they make mean pancakes, or you can go classic and order egg and bacon,” he suggests, I wasn’t sure I’d be able to order things for myself, I’d prefer if he did the talking.
“I want pancakes, but you order please,” I say and he nods, he orders the food for the two of us, and then we sit back and wait for the food, I didn’t know what to talk about, so I stayed quiet.
“Did you have a nice sleep?” he asks me.
“I slept head first last night,” I say blushing.
“I know, I had a call from Evelyn about you going to bed without dinner, she was ready to kill me for that,” he says with a shiver.
“I can survive missing a meal or two,” I say looking down at myself with a blush.
“You can never go wrong with eating a healthy meal, and don’t talk badly about you, not ever,” he says in a firm voice.
“Okay,” I say blushing, but happily the food came just then and I got busy eating my food and avoiding his eyes now.
“So Angel, tell me a bit more about yourself,” he says with a smile.
“There’s not much to tell,” I say with the same blush.
“How about you tell me your favourite colour, your favourite food, what you like doing other than work,” he says with a smile, so there are a couple of things to talk about.
“My favourite colour is blue, I think my favourite food is Macaroni and cheese, and I don’t know, I didn’t do much before this whole thing, I was busy making ends meet by the end of the month,” I confess honestly to him.
“Well now, you got your time to figure out what you actually enjoy,” Logan assures me with a wide smile.
