Angel POV.
“You’re okay princess, you’re okay,” Dylan assures me, but my whole body was shaking with fear, I didn’t dare to move, to breathe out loud, I couldn’t do anything, I was stuck in my place.
“Is William out yet?” Dylan says after a bit, I didn’t talk and so he gave up on me and is talking to the rest.
“He’s cleaning up,” the other guy answered him, so that means that he’s okay, they weren’t hurt, but they came for me, they saved me.
“When he’s done, tell him I need his help,” Dylan says, I wasn’t sure what kind of help he needs, but I’m here if he needs me.
“Yes, sir,” that person answered him and they moved away leaving me alone here with Dylan.
Dylan stayed next to me, he petted my back, he kept telling me it was going to be okay, but would it be really? I know that I’m feeling a lot better with him around and with Caleb dead, he’s dead, he can’t touch me anymore, I should be happy about that.
“Hey, you needed me?” William asks coming toward us, we’re still in the mall, we have moved to the upper floors of the mall, and we’re sitting in a random coffee shop, they got me water and I got to sit down in a comfortable share but that doesn’t mean I’m not scared anymore.
“She’s not talking,” Dylan says pointing to me, William walks closer to me, he stands right in front of me, and I was worried about being slapped hit, or maybe killed, I held my breath, and I froze.
“There, there princess,” William says taking me into his arms and surrounding my whole body with his.
“Breath,” he whispered in my ear, and I took a breath out, I finally breathed again.
“How did you get her to breathe?” Dylan asks confused.
“Sometimes they need to be reminded to do so,” William answered him, with a shrug, still hugging me tight making me feel safe in his arms.
“Thank you for saving me,” I say out loud, to them both, I didn’t see their faces since William was still hugging me.
“You’re most welcome princess, you don’t think we’d leave you behind,” Dylan says.
“Well you might,” I say, I’ve been forgotten before, many times, and I know the vampires won’t be above leaving me behind.
“Angel, we’d never leave you behind,” William says in a cold voice, and I nod my head yes, I believe them, I guess.
“Ready to get back to meet with the rest?” William asked me and I shrugged, what rest, I didn’t want to meet anyone, I just wanted to stay with them, where I feel safe.
“Come on, you don’t have to be worried anymore, the rebels are no more, we got rid of them, all of them,” Dylan assures me, so they killed all of them, they killed everyone, the only ones left are us.
“What’s going to happen next?” I asked them both, they looked to be the ones in charge, and they knew what was going to happen next.
“We’re going back to my place, you can stay with Dylan if you want, and I’ll tell everyone else and you of course what’s going to happen next, welcome to the new world Angel,” William says.
“What’s the new world?” I whisper to Dylan, not sure what that means anymore.
“I’m going to tell her brother, you get to tell the rest, but this one, I’m gonna take care of,” Dylan says out loud standing up and moving out of the mall, holding my hand as we walked away.
“Fine, but make sure you explain everything and that you bring her over to supper,” William ordered.
Dylan kept on walking and then he guided me into his car, he made me sit next to him as he started driving, I looked at him waiting for him to explain, they took over, what’s next? Why did they take over? What’s all of this about?
“Are you going to explain?” I ask him when I couldn’t wait any longer, I need to know, I’m very curious, and I need something to get my mind off all the killing I just saw.
“Yeah, I am,” he answered me but then he went quiet for a moment, how is that explaining?
“You see princess, years ago we decided that the humans can’t stay in charge anymore, they abuse their power,” he starts and I believe him, the humans are crazy, we made the whole war, the whole nuclear war that killed most of us.
“Okay, so you took over?” I asked him, I understood that much, I could see how they took over, I noticed everything, and I heard William’s messages, but what would happen next?
“Yes, we took over now princess and we’re the ones in charge, I know what you just saw wasn’t that nice, but they needed to be gone, we’re trying to build a new world, to start a new world, we’re trying to make a world that’s lacking all the pain and the abuse that the old world had,” he says.
“And how are you going to do that? Kill everyone?” I ask him still worried about this whole thing, what’s going to happen to me next.
“No, of course not, if we kill everyone we’ll be worse than what the humans did,” Dylan says meaning the nuclear war.
“Then what?” I ask him with a raised brow, I have shifted my whole body to look at his side instead of looking upfront.
“Then we take over, the world is going to keep moving of course, but we’re going to shift it, the vampires are going to be in charge now, and the humans, you get your old job, or maybe new job, everyone gets a better job than whatever they had before, everyone’s talents,” he says.
So they just killed everyone and they are going to be in charge, it’s a power game, it’s always a power play, what else did I expect from them, even if they aren’t humans, they are all the same, I shook my head and avoided his eyes now, so this is it.
“Angel, Angel,” he calls my name and I just ignore it, why did I even think they are different than what we have, why kill those people, just take over and leave the people be?
“Angel, answer me, little miss,” he scolds me in a cold voice, not yelling, just speaking in a firm voice.
“Yes?” I say feeling hurt by his tone, I don’t feel safe with him anymore.
“We’re not just going to take over, this is why William does the talking and not me,” he says with a sigh, while I stay quiet waiting for him to keep on explaining things to me.
“In the new world Angel, you’re not going to be alone anymore, you’re going to have others with you, not just you, I’m talking about all the humans, and all the vampires, all of us need a companion and we’re going to be there for each other,” he says.
“So the vampires would make us their servants? Maids?” I ask him, this feels like it.
“Again, no princess, just wait,” he says with a groan, maybe I should have waited for William to explain things for me, good thing he’s going to do the explaining for everyone else, or else everyone would be rebelling against the vampires again.
“Then explain,” I say the fear was getting to me, I wasn’t thinking straight anymore.
“You remember the exam you took? Back when you first came in?” he says, and I nod, I remember that they had taken some kind of exam and then we fell asleep, I wasn’t sure what happened when I wasn’t conscious.
“Yeah, I do, not much, but I do,” I answer him.
“Well those test you took helps put you into categories, same thing to the vampire, instead of just running around, spending time with everyone trying to find the one that’s perfect for you, you just get to spend time along with the ones that are the same category of you, it could be romantic, it could be just platonic, but you won’t be alone anymore,” Dylan explains to me.
“Ohhh…” I say trying to think this through, we got a category, and I spend time with that category, so I’d have some kind of family.
“Dylan…” I call out loud.
“Yeah?” he answered me.
“Will I be like… like matched with vampires or humans?” I asked him, I wanted to know what kind of relationship will I have.
“Humans are lonely, and so are vampires, and since we live too long we are extremely lonely, and we need companions, and we love humans, we love spending time with them,” Dylan explains to me.
“So what’s my code?” I ask him curiously.
“Code Blue, the sweetest code alive,” Dylan answered me with a smile.
“What about you?” I answered him, he said everyone got the code.
“I’m a mix of all codes, I’m an old vampire,” he says and I rolled my eyes at him, right, right.
