Inside a spacious and Luxurious ward, Morgan could be seen, laying on a white king sized bed. His face was scrunched up, as if he was in pain.
His thick lashes fluttered open, revealing a pair of red and tired eyes, his brows got deeper, as his gaze scanned the room. A sharp and heavy smell of antiseptic and medicines wafted into his nose, one that he hated, making him suddenly nauseous.
He tried to get up, but realized that there were pipes connected to his body, he quickly yanked it off, grunting as the pain from his chest injury hit him hard.
His face was draped with sweat, as he pulled off the quilt covering him and mde to get up. Just then, the door was pushed open, revealing Nicholas who walked in, behind him was Olivia.
“What are you doing sir?” Nicholas frowned, rushing towards him, but he was shoved off by Morgan.
“Sit still, your wounds are reopening and bleeding. Oh my God, what have you done?” Olivia sighed, her voice soft and tender, as she held Morgan from getting up.
Morgan paused, his gaze washing over her in a quick motion and he looked away.
“Get me out of here!” He growled, referring to Nicholas.
“You’d go nowhere.” Olivia interjected, shooting him a glance.
“How do you want to go, when you’re still bleeding, I bet your chest is still painful.” She added, tears brimming in her eyes.
“I’m fine and the pain isn’t even severe.” He said, his voice suddenly softening.
“You’re not. Look, you’re still bleeding. Don’t think I’d believe this petty lie of yours.” She stated, wiping her tears away.
Nicholas was grateful that he came with Olivia, at least, Morgan met his match, someone that wasn’t ready to buy his shit and that person was Olivia.
He really wondered how he was going to get the doctor to discharge him, since his wounds hadn’t even healed, he released a deep breath of relief, when Olivia chipped in.
Morgan glanced at Nicholas, but the man was quick to bring his face down, awkwardly pinching his brows.
“Go get the doctor to infuse these injections back into his body.” Olivia said, cutting the thick tension between them.
Yet again, Nicholas was glad. At least, he’d get to breathe properly without being scared of offending his boss.
Morgan had already leaned back into the bed, his hazy eyes fixed on Olivia’s worried face.
“Why are you crying?” He managed to ask, his voice somewhat incoherent.
“You are losing a lot of blood, isn’t it painful? I mean your chest, doesn’t it hurt?” She babbled, not answering his question.
Morgan’s hard gaze slowly softened as he pulled her close to wipe her tears. This woman was something, the next minute she’s happy, the next minute, she’s crying, such a cry baby.
What warmed his heart, was her tears were for him, for his injury. Morgan could barely recall anyone crying for him, whether it was fake or genuine, but the woman right in front of him was crying just because he was losing a lot of blood.
He chuckled.
It wasn’t long before the doctor walked in, he shook his head. He had always known that Morgan hated hospitals, especially laying on the bed.
Olivia glanced at Morgan, giving him a reassuring gaze, as the doctor went ahead to refix those pipes into him.
It didn’t take time and he slept off. Olivia glanced at him one more time, and turned her gaze towards Nicholas, as it was only them, left in the ward.
“I need to go see my mom.”
Nicholas nodded and he left with her.
Olivia couldn’t contain the emotions that were jumping in her heart.
Happiness, Guilt, longing, even tears were threatening to fall from her eyes, as she took calculated steps towards her mom’s bed
Today seemed to be a day for crying.
“Mom?” Her voice faltered as her mouth quivered.
Without waiting for her to say a word, she lunged at her, embracing her in a tight hug.
“Olly dear..” her mom’s low yet tender voice acknowledged.
Olivia pulled away, scanning her mom’s face, her face stained with tears as she hugged her again.
“I missed you mom.” She sobbed.
“I missed more, dear.” The woman smiled.
Olivia found it hard to let go of her mom, afraid she might slip away if she does so.
“How were you able to pay for my bills?”
Olivia paused, her heart suddenly started racing, as she wiped her tears. The question she had dreaded was right In front of her, seeking an answer.
Olivia couldn’t bring herself to lie to her mother, she decided to come clean, but not really clean.
“Mom.” She called.
The woman hummed, waiting for an answer.
“I’m married, mom.” She closed her eyes, waiting for the worst to happen.
Lily paused, scanning her expression to see any sign of joking, but there was none.
“What are you saying, dear?” She asked, her heart pounding hard, that Olivia could hear and feel it.
Olivia decided not to continue with the topic. “Mom, please let’s talk about this next time. I really don’t want to talk about it right now, let’s talk about other things.” She smiled sadly, looking up at her mom.
The woman seemed to want to protest, but she decided against it.
“Did the doctor say anything about your discharge?”
“Not yet dear, rather he said that, I won’t be able to walk in the future.”
“What?”
