Chapter 37

Book:The CEO'S Delicate Wife Published:2024-8-24

In what seems like a basement, Five men could be seen, three standing, the remaining two, seated on a metallic bench.
The two men had their faces covered so that only their eyes could be seen. Their gaze was dark and vicious, as they gazed at the three men who stood, they were obviously nervous and scared.
“What do you mean by, you couldn’t find her? Is that even a statement?” The first man in a mask yelled angrily. His voice startled the three, as he got up roaming around them.
“You can’t even get a job done properly. I don’t know if you’ve forgotten, that I still have your families in my custody, and I won’t bat an eyelid to shoot them all at a go, right in front of you.” He added, his tone turning darker, as it was clouded with frustrated anger.
“No sir, please spare my family. I promise I’ll do everything to make sure the job is done, If not, we’ll execute the second plan.” One among the three, pleaded, as he fell on his knees, followed by others.
“All these pleading don’t really matter, if you don’t get the job done … . well, it would be a pity cause you’d all end up in hell.” He sneered, returning back to the metallic bench.
The second masked man, who hasn’t said anything yet, got up, his eyes washing over them, before he looked away.
“I think we’re done here, J. I’m wondering if they really love their family…” he said, pinching his jaw, as if thinking of something.
“Anyways it’s up to them, their performance this time around, would be the explanation.” He added.
With that, they left, not without giving them a final glance.

Ava had been waiting for Nicholas since forever. He hasn’t shown up nor did she see anyone come to meet her.
She was running out of patience, how would someone bring her to his house and then disappear. She had already lost count of how many times she slept and woke up.
Did he forget that he brought her to his house?
Just as she was about to get up and walk around, Nicholas walked in.
“Did you forget I was here?” She asked, casting a glance at him.
Nicholas remained silent, not sparing her a glance. He took out a phone from his pocket, and threw it on the sofa, where she sat.
Ava frowned, picking up the phone, as she shot Nicholas a questioning glance.
“This is my phone. How did it end up with you?” She asked, checking the phone out.
Nicholas still remained silent, this time, he glanced at Ava. His face exuded an aura of seriousness and impatience, which Ava wondered if he really was a sugar daddy or Olivia’s sugar daddy.
He took out a bunch of cash from his pants pocket, together with a piece of paper. He threw it at Ava.
“Take that money and leave. Don’t you dare forget everything written on that piece of paper.” Nicholas’ cold voice warned.
“You still haven’t answered my question. Who are you exactly? This phone was with someone else, so, how did it get to you?” Ava asked, picking up the cash thrown at her.
“Stop asking silly questions and get lost already. Leave now, while you can, you won’t leave to tell the story.” Nicholas reluctantly threatened, giving her a scornful look.
If anything, Ava was scared. She nodded, swallowing the rest of her questions. Without asking further, she grabbed her bag, stuffing the money and her phone into it.
Mere looking at Nicholas, he wasn’t one to be trifled with. She could vividly remember that it was one of Young Master’s friends that took her phone. He was among the big shots in Manila. If Olivia’s sugar daddy could get the phone from him, then his connection with them was really strong.
How did Olivia get to hookup with such a man, that had this kind of connection?
Who knew if he was friends with the young master and Olivia would get to see and talk with the young master, something she couldn’t even achieve.
Now her hatred and jealousy for Olivia was stronger. She was going to do anything to make sure Olivia was below her, so she could trample on her.

Morgan sat in his office, his dark gaze trailing back and forth to his phone, as if he was expecting something.
After a while of not being able to concentrate, he paused, taking his phone to dial Olivia’s number.
After a series of rings, she didn’t answer, Morgan hit the desk, getting very annoyed.
This woman! She dared not to take his calls, even when he decided to call her himself.
Morgan kept his phone, refocusing his attention on his laptop.
Last night, he didn’t go home because of work, he slept in his office, deciding to call Olivia later. But he slept off, just to wake up in the morning.
He checked his phone, expecting to see Olivia’s calls, but none came, not even a message. He had told Nicholas to go drive her to school, but when he reached, Olivia was already out.
And now, he decided to call her and she didn’t take his call. The audacity was questionable, very questionable.
*****
Olivia came back earlier from college, it was just a resumption day with few students returning back to school.
But anyways, it was good. She actually liked it.
When she was back home, she had expected to see Morgan, but it seemed to be her imagination. Nobody was home, apart from the security.
She checked her phone, but didn’t receive any call from Morgan. Olivia decided to call him, when she was out of the shower.
Shortly after she was out of the shower, and dressed in her nightgown. She took her phone to call Morgan, but found out that he had called her two times.
She redialed his number, but after a few rings of not picking his calls, she kept her phone and went to make dinner.
Olivia was done making dinner, she called Morgan again, but he still didn’t take his call. She decided to leave him a text.
Olivia: Will you come home? I made dinner.
She waited for seconds, seconds turned into minutes and minutes turned into hours, yet she hasn’t gotten any response from Morgan.
Now, Olivia was worried. She redialed his number yet he didn’t pick.
Thank goodness she had Nicholas number, she dialed his number and after one ring he picked up.
“Uhhm, Good evening Nik. Is Morgan with you?” Olivia’s worried voice asked.
Nicholas seemed to notice the glance shot at him by Morgan. A questioning glance.
“It’s your wife.” He whisper-yelled, so Olivia won’t hear it.
“Hello, Nike, are you there?” Olivia asked, after not hearing anything from his side.
“I’m sorry ma’am. Yeah, I’m with Morgan, we’re in the office.” Nicholas said.
“Tell Morgan to take his calls.” She said, her voice slightly getting annoyed.
After the call had ended, Nicholas glanced at Morgan, “Ma’am said, you should take your calls.”
Morgan frowned, he took his phone, just to see several missed calls from Olivia and a text message, which automatically warmed his heart.
He had decided to sleep at the office tonight, but right now, his decision was questionable. He glanced at Nicholas.
“Reschedule everything for tomorrow.”
With that said, I got up and left the office.
