“Wait a minute, Callum. Just drop me off on the side of the road.” Aurelia really wasn’t in the mood to see Laura, but she couldn’t stop Callum from going over.
Callum glanced at her. Although he didn’t know what she was thinking, he still patiently comforted her, “Be good. It will be very dangerous if Laura is taken away by them.”
When they arrived, they saw Laura curling up on a chair in the security room and hugging her knees.
“Laura!”
Hearing Callum’s voice, Laura suddenly raised her head, and seeing the person coming, she immediately stood up from the chair and rushed over. She hugged Callum tightly, “Callum, you are finally here. I am so scared!”
“Don’t be afraid. I’m here!”
Callum’s gentle consolation made Aurelia, who followed him, feel very uncomfortable. She couldn’t calm down when her husband hugged another woman and comforted her softly.
People outside said Callum was cold and heartless.
And Callum was indeed cold and ruthless, but that was only towards others.
The man lifted the girl in his arms and turned to tell the security guard, “Open the car door.”
“Yes, Mr. Finnegan.” The security guard quickly opened the back door.
Fortunately, Callum had not forgotten Aurelia, “Aurelia, come here.”
Aurelia remained silent.
She just didn’t want to have Laura around. Just when Aurelia was hesitating about what to do, her cell phone rang. It was Cathy.
“Sheridan Buddy, I want to ask you something. Where did you buy the red wine last time?”
“Oh, Cathy, are you drunk? Where are you? I’ll pick you up!”
Cathy was puzzled. “No, Aurelia, I’m asking…”
“At your house? OK, I’ll come find you now.”
Without giving Cathy a chance to speak, Aurelia directly hung up, then looked at Callum, who was silent. “Sorry, Cathy is drunk at home and in a bad mood. I’m going to go over to accompany her. I’ll spend the night there and won’t go back home tonight.”
Callum stared at her solemnly without saying anything.
Laura in his arms clutched Callum’s shirt tightly, saying, “Aurelia, if your friend needs you there, just go ahead. I feel much better to have Callum around. I’ll take good care of him for you.”
Aurelia was speechless.
She glanced at Callum. “I’m leaving.”
When she turned around and walked out of the neighborhood, she still had a glimmer of hope in her heart. If Callum stopped her, she would go back to the villa later. But even when she hailed a cab, he didn’t come to her.
Callum put Laura in the back seat of the car and said, “Take a rest first. I’m going to…” He went to call Aurelia and prepared to take her to Cathy personally.
But Laura grabbed his sleeve and said weakly, “Callum, I feel a little uncomfortable. I…”
“Did you bring the medicine with you?”
“Yes, I brought it.” Laura pointed to her bag with difficulty.
By the time Callum fed her the medicine and rushed out, Aurelia had disappeared.
In an instant, Callum was so annoyed that he wanted to swear.
Aurelia called Cathy back after getting in a taxi. “What did you call about just now?”
Cathy didn’t answer but asked, “What’s going on over there?”
Aurelia replied listlessly, “Nothing. Where are you? What are you doing?”
“I’m at a party with a friend, and I wanted to ask you where you bought the red wine last time. I’ll also have someone send a few bottles over.” It was indeed a bit noisy over there at Cathy’s place, and there was the sound of someone singing nearby.
Aurelia told her where she bought the wine, and after hanging up, she contacted Briar. “Where are you?”
“Bar! Aurelia, I’m here to find a job for you!” Briar said helplessly.
After all, he got the VIP card from Callum, so of course he had to pay more attention to Aurelia’s affairs.
“How’s it going?”
“The manager agrees to make you an offer of 1, 100 dollars per hour for my sake. I’m just going to call you. When can you start?”
1, 100 was not a small amount. Other places only offered 200 or 300 and it took several hours. “I can go there right now.”
Briar gave her the address.
When she arrived at the bar, Aurelia was taken by Briar to meet the manager. After hearing Briar say that Aurelia had a scary background, the manager looked at her twice.
She seemed to have a good temperament to the manager and was pretty, but she dressed like a student. But that was not the point. The point was whether her singing was good or not.
Aurelia came on stage holding a guitar. She was definitely a talented singer who could knock the audience’s socks off!
She sang the song ‘Dancing With Your Ghost’, which made many people cry.
When the manager saw this scene, he quickly reminded her to sing a song that would liven up the atmosphere. Otherwise, his customers would all leave crying.
The second song she sang was “I Like How It Feels”, because a young lady in the audience just now shouted that she wanted to hear this song, and Aurelia happened to know it, so she sang it.
When she sang to the climax, her voice was still very steady, and the young lady who was ordering the song in the audience cheered for her crazily.
After the second song, Aurelia took the opportunity to take a break and quietly asked the manager, “How about I let the customers order any song they want, charge them a 200 dollar tip for each song, and we split it in half?”
The manager looked at her with complicated eyes, wondering if Briar had cheated him. If Aurelia had a strong background, why would she seem to be so short of money?
Even so, he nodded and agreed, called over a host, and announced the rules on the stage.
Because Aurelia was pretty, many people wanted to attract her attention. Those who wanted to request songs crowded into the front row and were almost climbing onto the stage.
“Feeling Good”, “Collide”, “Perfect Strangers”, “I Have Nothing”, “Mood”… None of them could faze her.
After conspiring with Cathy to turn off her cell phone, Aurelia sang with all her might.
From 9 p. m. to 2 a. m., the closer it got to the end, the more tips were added. Even so, Aurelia, who sang with her amazing singing skills, was still requested to sing by many people. In the end, her voice was hoarse, and she was forced to stay by Briar.
She earned several thousand dollars in one night!
Aurelia hugged the dollar bills and kissed them happily several times.
In the dead of night, Briar asked her in confusion, “What on earth are you going to buy that makes you work so hard to earn money?”
Aurelia cleared her hoarse throat. “I’ll tell you later!”
Briar glared at her hatefully. “We’re finished!”
Aurelia patted his shoulder and assured, “Don’t worry. When I make enough money, I won’t come to sing anymore, and I promise you won’t get into any trouble.”
“I hope your husband won’t skin me alive. How about I just give you tens of thousands of dollars? So you won’t come here again.”
