“No, I told you! It would be meaningless if I used your money or the money Callum gave me to buy that thing.”
Briar sat down on the side of the road and looked up at the sky. “Where are you going so late? I’m freezing. Aren’t you going home?”
“I’m not going home. I’m going to the hotel!”
She didn’t want to see Callum right now, and it was too late to go back to the dormitory, so she decided to go to the hotel.
So, in the middle of the night, Callum received a text message from the hotel where Aurelia swiped her card.
Didn’t she say she would stay at Cathy’s place? He called the hotel manager and asked how many people he saw checking in.
The hotel manager answered truthfully, “Two.”
Finally, he added, “One man and one woman.”
In the middle of the night, Callum showed up in the hotel in the cold wind, his face gloomy. The manager, who had received the news of Callum’s arrival in advance, did not dare to breathe and took Callum directly to the hotel room he had asked about.
The door of the room was opened, and the scene inside left the manager dumbfounded.
In the cheapest room of the four-star hotel, Aurelia was sleeping soundly. Next to her, a large man was curled up on the sofa with half of his legs on the ground.
Callum kicked the man’s leg, and Briar, who was dreaming, was woken up by the kick. He pushed away the blanket on his body, revealing neatly dressed clothes. “Fuck, who dares to kick… Mr. Finnegan…”
Hearing Briar’s scream, Aurelia opened her eyes dazedly. Why did she seem to see Callum?
No way. Why would he show up in the hotel? She must be dreaming.
As she closed his eyes again and tried to sleep, Callum had already come to her bedside and ordered coldly, “Get up!”
Damn. It was really Callum who was here.
Aurelia covered her head with the blanket. “You got the wrong person.”
Her voice was unusually hoarse, and Callum frowned. Was she sick?
Along with the blanket, he strode off.
Briar wanted to run, but the manager blocked his way and didn’t dare to let him out without permission.
Seeing the boy cowering at the door, Callum scolded coldly, “Briar, you know the consequences, right?” How dare he bring his wife to get a room in the middle of the night?
Callum looked like he had caught someone cheating on him. Briar defended himself anxiously, “It was too cold outside. Though I didn’t leave, I slept on the sofa!”
As Callum strode over, Briar began to wail for mercy. “I was wrong! Mr. Finnegan, please let me go!”
The moment he raised his foot, his hand was grabbed by Aurelia. “I asked him to stay.”
After having Briar walk such a long time with her, and it was several degrees below zero outside, how could she let Briar leave alone in that situation? Besides, they had slept in the same bed before!
And they were sleeping in two places and in two blankets!
Only the two of them knew that they almost had a fight that night. Aurelia disliked his height. He disliked her for being nosy, and they almost had a fight.
Briar initially had no intention of staying tonight, fearing that Callum would find out and kill him, but Aurelia told him that Callum was in bed with a woman and had no time to take care of them.
Therefore, Briar decided to stay and comfort her, but before they could even talk for a few words, they both fell asleep.
This was how it happened.
“I’ll give you one last chance!” Callum said a few words to Briar, then left the hotel with Aurelia in his arms.
Briar looked at the door hundreds of times, and only after making sure that they had all left did he dare to ask the manager to bring in another blanket so that he could sleep peacefully.
It was already past three in the morning when Aurelia returned to the villa, and she went back to her room in silence.
When Callum followed in, she wanted to push him out before hearing him say calmly, “Laura is sleeping next door.”
Aurelia was mad, but she was so sleepy that she fell asleep without saying another word.
When she woke up the next morning, Callum was no longer in the room. She cleared my throat and found that her voice was no longer hoarse.
When she finished washing up and went downstairs, she heard a girls’ soft laughter downstairs.
Then she remembered that Laura was there too.
Seeing Aurelia appear, Laura greeted her happily. “Aurelia, good morning. Come and have breakfast!”
“Oh!” Aurelia responded indifferently.
Callum pulled out the chair next to him and motioned for Aurelia to sit down.
Aurelia didn’t want to sit down at first, but when she saw the girl across from her, she chose to sit with Callum.
“Aurelia, I was just talking about children with Callum. By the way, you haven’t told me yet. Do you want a boy or a girl?” Laura pouted and acted coquettishly towards Callum.
Aurelia took the breakfast handed to her by Mary without saying anything.
Callum glanced at Aurelia, who was about to eat the egg and answered affirmatively, “A boy.” Before anyone could say anything, he added, “It has to be a boy.”
If it was a girl, he was afraid that she would be like Aurelia, who he couldn’t scold, let alone provoke.
To be precise, the only girl he could want to cherish and love, no matter how hard he tried, was Aurelia.
If it was a boy, when Callum was angry, he could vent his anger on him by scolding him for no reason, which could also make Aurelia, as a mother, feel a little distressed.
Laura laughed, “What about you, Aurelia?”
Aurelia was still immersed in Callum’s wish for a boy, and when she heard Laura ask her, she smiled and said, “I want a daughter. Girls are obedient and well-behaved, and you can dress them up in beautiful dresses.”
When she said this, a warm scene automatically emerged in Callum’s mind. If it was a mother and daughter, it would be nice indeed.
“Laura, you must be careful when choosing a boyfriend. Otherwise, you may be cheated by a scumbag.”
Callum listened to this and had a feeling that Aurelia was secretly mocking him.
Laura nodded innocently, and then said something shocking, “Callum is a good man, and I want to find a man as nice as him to be my husband in the future!”
Aurelia calmed herself down and spoke again with a sneer, “You are wrong about him. Never judge a person by appearances. Callum is more like a playboy than a good husband. Listen to me and don’t marry a man like him.”
Laura looked at Aurelia in surprise and didn’t buy it. “That’s not true! Callum is really nice to me, and I don’t feel like he’s nice to other women!”
Yes! He treated you better than his own wife. In Aurelia’s eyes, he was a scumbag! “You are wrong. I am his wife. It is natural for him to treat me well. You are his niece, so it is fine for him to treat you well. But what you may not know is there is also Miss Monroe…”
