Olive wanted to ask Wayne if something was wrong, but he looked relaxed and calm. If something was truly wrong, it would have reflected on his face as he was not someone to hide his displeasure.
Therefore, she exhaled and decided to let it pass. Maybe she was just overthinking things.
They began to eat their lunch in silence. But each of them was just waiting for the other to speak first. When the silence between them was becoming tiring, Wayne cleared his throat.
“Ahem… hmm mm”
Olive looked at him with furrowed brows. His gaze met hers.
“Do you need water?” she asked, thinking he had choked on his food.
“No. I’m good,” he replied and she stared at him still. He huffed and gulped down a glass of water to appease her.
“Better. I don’t want you choking until you turn red,” she stated then resumed eating. Wayne grinned and rested on his chair, using his knuckles to support his face again and looking sideways at her.
“You’re so cute when you act all naggy,” he teased and she frowned at him.
“Eat, Wayne,” she ordered.
“Weren’t you missing me a while ago? I’m here now, yet you don’t wanna talk with me.”
“What? I didn’t say I don’t want to talk with you,” she retorted and he shook his head slowly.
“You are ignoring me. I don’t like that,” he drawled and closed his eyes.
“All right, I’m sorry. I just didn’t know what to talk about,” she mumbled and looked away.
“Apology not accepted,” he stated and sat up to eat again. Her eyes widened.
“What? Come on!”
“Don’t talk to me today, Olive. I’m angry with you,” he feigned annoyance and began to eat curtly. Olive opened her mouth to say something but she closed it. She took a deep breath.
“I already told you I’m sorry, Wayne. What else do you want me to do?” she asked desperately. He didn’t even look at her or answer her. She bit her lower lip.
“Wayne?” she called him but he ignored her again.
“You are the one ignoring me now!”
Still, no answer. She huffed, faced her food and began to eat. Two could play this game!
They finished their lunch in the silence they began with. Olive got on her feet and walked into the bathroom. She took a shower and while she was coming out, she sensed Wayne still in the room. What was he doing? She peeped through the slightly opened door and saw that he was flexing his muscles-barechested. She gulped at the sight of that flawlessly fresh skin covering his body. His body was so clean, not even a blemish or scar. How did he manage to get such skin? What was his skincare routine? Did he have one?
His bare back facing her was making her salivate. She wanted to have him lay on his tummy, while she lay on his bare back. Wait… what was she thinking?
She stood upright and frowned. She wasn’t supposed to even see him as an existing person. She was supposed to ignore him.
‘He doesn’t exist to me,’ she told herself. She huffed and walked out of the door, with her wet hair clinging to her face, back and shoulders. The towel she had used was extremely short but she didn’t even take note. As she walked out and closed the door, Wayne looked back and everything turned into slow motion. All he could see was his mate, walking slowly out of the bathroom door.
Dripping wet, wearing a short towel and calling on him to take her to his bed. She lifted her eyes and met his. Then she slowly licked her plump, red lips and flapped her eyes at him. His breathing hitched and the temperature of the room increased. His mate was alluring.
She was walking towards him still in slow motion. Wanting to enter into his arms. He was waiting for that moment patiently. But right before she could enter into his warm embrace, she diverted and her shoulder kicked his arm. The slow motion stopped and he saw her sitting on her dressing chair. She was never coming to him. He frowned as he watched her apply lotions on her palm.
He opened his mouth to say something to her but he closed it. He turned around and walked out of the room, heading towards his gym. Just as he was about to enter, he saw Jericho strolling into the receiving hall. He frowned deeply.
“What is it?” he asked with a deep angry voice. Jericho flinched at the sound of his voice.
“Alph… Alpha,” he stuttered and his hands inadvertently went to his hair.
“What is it?” he asked again.
“Nothing… I was just… Going to check on Olive,” Jericho answered and stood upright. Wayne raised a thick brow at him.
“Why?” he asked. Jericho pinned his lips together. Why was his Alpha looking so agitated today? Was it as a result of his fight with Lord Lina?
“Dolly wanted her to meet up at the Circular Cabinet. She asked me to check on her if she’s willing to,” he explained and Wayne’s eyebrows relaxed.
“She could have just mind linked with Olive instead,” he said and Jericho almost laughed at how clueless Alpha Knight was looking at the moment.
“She’s not… she’s not a part of our pack yet, Alpha. She can’t link with us.”
Wayne clenched his jaws. And nodded. He entered the gym and that gave Jericho the permission to keep going. As Wayne walked inside further, he suddenly stopped when he remembered something. Olive was half naked!
He zoomed off and stood right in front of the door, as Jericho was about to put his hand forward.
“Whoahh!” he screamed as he tumbled backwards.
“Don’t go in there. Go back to Dolly, tell her Olive would be there soon,” he ordered. Jericho wanted to ask what was going on but he gulped down instead. He was going to turn and leave when the door opened on its own, or rather it wasn’t closed properly and the force of Wayne’s speed slowly pushed it. Both Jericho’s and Wayne’s eyes turned into the room and they froze at the sight.
Olive’s leg was on her dressing chair and she was rubbing lotion on her thigh… slowly. Her hair was packed to one side and falling freely over that side. The towel was so short, that her inner thighs were showing. They were creamy and sparkling with lotion under the light of the room. Wayne’s wolf stood on all fours and groaned in his head. Jericho’s eyes were popped open, not really because he was amazed but out of fear. Wayne would kill him!
Immediately, he coughed inadvertently and turned around to save himself. Olive looked up at them and smiled. Wayne’s face turned sour immediately. Why was she smiling?
“Jeri, hey,” she hailed, still smiling freely. She slowly let down her leg from the chair but finger-combed her hair to keep staying sideways and over her shoulder. She looked so alluring.
“Jeri?” she called again in a honeyed voice. It was like a bride calling unto her groom on their wedding night.
‘Jeri? When did she start calling you that?’ Wayne growled through his mind link with Jericho who coughed again and again. He didn’t dare turn back to look at Olive.
“What’s going on with you?” she asked and began to walk to the door. Wayne bit his lower lip hard.
“It’s nothing. Go back and dress up,” he stated and was about to step in and close the door.
“Jeri, could you please help apply lotion on my back?”
Jericho’s eyes widened even larger than saucers. What did he just hear? What in the world was going on with Olive? His face slowly moved towards his Alpha, whose face was turning red with his veins popping out. Jericho did a very pathetic face, pleading for mercy. Never joke with a man’s mate, even if the joke was not coming from you.
‘Alpha… I’m sorry. But is everything alright with her?’ he asked through their mind link. Wayne gulped. Olive was already at the door she held it and looked at Jericho only.
“Jeri, since you’re completely ignoring me, I’ll stop talking to you. Tell Dolly I’ll be in her room in a few minutes,” she said in a cold voice, as if she was angry.
“Ehem…,” Jericho coughed and turned to look at Olive. He quickly diverted his eyes to the floor.
“Meet up with her in the Circular Cabinet please. She’s waiting,” he said while staring at his feet.
“Oh, okay. Bye then,” she said with a smile. A smile too bright.
“Olive, I said you should go get dressed,” Wayne repeated himself in a deeper and more angered voice.
“Oh and Jeri, could you tell Dolly that I would like her to take me out today? This castle is boring me out,” she pouted her lips and made a baby face. She had ignored Wayne’s words… again. Jericho seemed to quickly understand what was happening. He looked to Wayne to see if he could answer. When he saw his Alpha was just standing speechless but obviously angry, he decided to leave immediately. Let the mates settle themselves.
“Yes, sure. Thank you,” he said in a haste. Then he bowed quickly and sped out, leaving the whole quarters in few seconds. As soon as he was in the general elevator, he took a deep breath.
“What was that?”
