Asking for a week off? Callum frowned. “Why didn’t anyone tell me about this?”
Alfred didn’t know what to say.
Callum took out his phone before saying, “From now on, you must report her every move to me!”
“Yes, Mr. Finnegan.”
“Where is she going, and what is she doing?”
Alfred hesitated for a moment, then answered truthfully, “Mrs. Finnegan didn’t tell me about it.”
What? She must be avoiding him. He called Jim and said calmly, “Notify the airport now…”
Less than an hour later, Aurelia appeared in the president’s office of ZL Group with a suitcase.
She threw her suitcase aside with a grim look on her face. “Callum, what do you mean?” Did he want to restrict her personal freedom?
Callum didn’t say anything until he signed the document in his hand. After confirming nothing was wrong, he looked at her and said, “Come with me to class this afternoon.”
“I’m not going!” She refused flatly.
Callum stood up from his seat upon hearing this and said firmly, “You have to go.”
Aurelia sat down on his sofa and said coldly, “Since you are not busy now, let me make things clear with you. I need you to sign the divorce papers. The moment you sign the papers, we will have nothing to do with each other.” She had early made up her mind to divorce him.
Since Callum knew she was his wife, he had interfered with her in various ways. He treated her as his daughter, not his wife!
She had never taken the initiative to please anyone before, but now she had to please him in various ways! And what made Aurelia furious was that he didn’t appreciate it!
She couldn’t stand this kind of life anymore! She had to talk things out with him today!
Callum sat across from her and said nonchalantly, “I’m not gonna sign the papers!”
“Why? I told you I don’t want your money. What else are you dissatisfied with?” Aurelia was so angry that she wanted to punch him in the face.
Before he could say anything, she continued, “As for the money I had used over the past three years, I will repay you after I find a job!”
Callum glanced at her, who looked upset. “What I did in the past three years was wrong. I won’t do it again in the future.”
Huh? Aurelia was confused. Was he apologizing?
“You don’t need to apologize. Anyway, you don’t love me, and I don’t love you either. Our marriage is meaningless. If you still insist on not signing the papers, then I will sue you!”
Her words made Callum laugh. Apparently, he was not afraid of her threats. He could even hire the best divorce lawyer for her if necessary.
However, he said, “First, the separation must last for two years. We had dinner together three months after we got married. One year, nine months and ten days ago, I went back to the villa and slept next to you, but you were sleeping so soundly that you didn’t know.”
He didn’t turn on the light when he entered her room. In the dark, he had no interest in seeing what she looked like, let alone touching her. After resting for two hours, he left.
Aurelia’s eyes widened in shock, and she cursed in her heart. She didn’t even know this!
Callum took a cigarette out of the pack and fiddled with it, but didn’t light it because Aurelia was there. He continued, “Secondly, the separation must be due to a ‘breakdown of the relationship’.. Someone like me who works away from home all year round doesn’t count. Also, a divorce can only be granted if both parties file for it. There is no automatic divorce rule.”
Should she consult a lawyer to see if Callum had lied to her?
When he said the third point, he suddenly stood up, walked towards her, bent down, and supported his arms on the arm of the sofa. Aurelia was forced to lean against the back of the sofa.
Why was he suddenly so close to her? What was he going to do? Was he trying to seduce her?
Because of his sudden approach, the air in the office suddenly changed.
Feeling her nervousness, Callum raised the corners of his lips. “Third, you need to prove that my behavior leads to the end of the marriage. Aurelia, do you have any evidence?”
Why was his voice so husky? It made her dizzy. Aurelia stammered, “Sure.”
“Where is it?”
Aurelia moved back further and found that there was no room on the couch for her to move. “I… I can ask Mary and Alfred for proof.”
“Who do you think Mary and Alfred will side with? You or me?”
Aurelia was speechless.
His breath was faintly sprayed on her face. She blushed slightly. Why did he get so close to her? But she didn’t have the courage to push him away.
“Let me tell you one last thing.” As soon as he finished speaking, he suddenly kissed her on the lips. Aurelia’s mind went blank.
Fortunately, it was just a peck, and it didn’t last long before Callum distanced himself from her. “Last but not least, separation must mean that both parties do not fulfill their marital obligations. Mrs. Finnegan, if you want, I can also exercise my rights as a husband.” As he spoke, he moved forward again, and they were so close.
Aurelia quickly shook her head. “No, thanks.”
Callum suddenly pulled her up to face him, and held her in his arms with his long arms. “So Mrs. Finnegan, I think your best choice is to continue living with me and stop thinking about divorce. Just give up.”
Aurelia was completely bewitched by his charm. She looked at Callum’s handsome face and nodded stupidly.
He smelt so good, which gave her a sense of safety. Moreover, his lips were so sexy…
Feeling her slightly obsessed gaze, Callum curled his lips in satisfaction.
No! Aurelia quickly shook her head to get Callum’s charming face out of her mind. “Why don’t you divorce me? We don’t love each other!” She was really confused and repeated her question again.
Why? Callum rubbed her long hair affectionately, feeling her smooth hair with his fingers. “First, you need money to study or realize your dream. Second, I need a woman to stop those messy women from approaching me. Third, when grandpa asked me to marry you, he consulted a fortune teller. It was said that we are meant to be together.”
She was speechless upon hearing his explanation. Callum indeed had a glib tongue. With that impeccable eloquence, why didn’t he become a lawyer?
