Aurelia had no intention of making things difficult for Anna and nodded. “It’s okay. Which floor is he on? I can go there by myself.” Her tone was indeed much kinder, which made Anna breathe a sigh of relief.
Then she shook her head quickly. “As Mr. Finnegan instructed, I’ll lead you upstairs.”
Seeing Anna’s worried expression, Aurelia guessed that she was probably afraid of Callum as well.
It made sense. For a man as strict as Callum, there probably wouldn’t be many people who weren’t afraid of him.
Briar, who was usually fearless, became timid every time he saw Callum.
Aurelia nodded and followed her into the elevator, which finally stopped on the 66th floor.
The entire 66th floor was large and quiet. She noticed that there was a small area not far from the president’s office.
There were five people sitting there, but there were six desks, which meant Callum had six secretaries! She opened her mouth in surprise. However, she thought that if there were not so many secretaries in such a large group company, Callum would probably be swamped with work.
As a male secretary wearing glasses saw Anna coming up, he stood up and came over to them before asking, “Who is she?” Aurelia somehow looked familiar to him.
The male secretary looked to be no more than 30 years old, with the typical appearance of elites. He looked at Aurelia with a smile in his eyes, which gave people a very comfortable feeling.
Anna glanced at Aurelia awkwardly and said respectfully, “Mr. Cowper, this lady is looking for Mr. Finnegan.”
It turned out that his last name was ‘Cowper’. Aurelia smiled at him, which made Jim a little absent-minded. But he quickly returned to his working state, “Nice to meet you. this way, please.” He extended his right hand forward and politely invited Aurelia to the door of the president’s office.
After Jim knocked on the office door, a deep voice came from inside. “Come in!”
Callum’s voice was deep and cold. She clenched the lunch box in her hand and began to get nervous.
Would Callum be unhappy to see her? Whether he was upset or not, they would get divorced anyway. So why bother?
She walked into Callum’s office in a daze.
The office was spacious, decorated in white, black, and gray modern style.
The spotless office was simply furnished with the latest high-tech desk, a wine rack, a bookshelf, a water dispenser, a white sofa and a long glass table.
There is an indoor golf course on the westernmost side, with several famous paintings hanging on the wall. On the easternmost side, there was a door to the lounge.
When Callum saw Aurelia appear at the door, an imperceptible emotion flashed across his eyes.
He put down the pen in his hand silently and looked at Aurelia, who was looking around curiously.
Aurelia felt his gaze and immediately came back to her senses, stepping on the soft carpet and taking a few steps forward.
After calming down, she spoke carefully, “Callum… No, Mr. Finnegan, sorry to bother you. I cooked you a meal. Would you like to try it?”
Callum raised his eyebrows when he heard this. Would a stubborn woman like Aurelia be so nice to him all of a sudden? Could she have bad intentions?
The meals she cooked? He remembered that he had told Alfred on the day they got their marriage certificate not to let her do any chores.
Aurelia nervously looked at Callum, who fell silent. Why didn’t he say anything?
Was he mad because she was here?
Aurelia felt a little embarrassed when she thought of this possibility, but she still opened the lunch box and said, “I’ll put this lunch box here. I’m leaving now.”
Seeing the charred food in the lunch box made Callum frown immediately.
The smell of burnt food filled the air. Was this food?
Was Callum frowning? Was it because the food didn’t look good?
She explained seriously, “Although this doesn’t look good, it’s still delicious. Mary has tried it. You can have a try.” This was what Mary told her. Aurelia herself couldn’t bear to eat it!
Aurelia took out the cutlery and handed them to him in a flattering manner, with an expectant expression on her face unconsciously.
Looking at the expectation on her face, Callum hesitated for a moment, but finally took the food from her.
Aurelia watched him take the cutlery and happily introduced the names of the dishes, “These are braised lamb shanks. And…” She looked at the charred food and smiled awkwardly at Callum.
“This should be in the brown gravy. Why did it turn black…” She muttered in a low voice.
Callum looked at the food in the lunch box and had no appetite at all. There was no need to taste them!
“Shrimps look good. You should take a bite.” Aurelia was sure shrimps were well cooked.
Callum couldn’t bear to imagine how terrible it felt when the food was in his mouth, while Aurelia was still talking with relish, “Callum, this is my first time cooking. I… I’m here to apologize for what I did last night…”
She ducked her head in guilt. When she said this, Callum’s eyes hardened. But what she said next made him feel satisfied.
“I was so drunk. I’m not going to make any excuses. Callum, please don’t be angry, okay?” At last, she stared at him with her big eyes, pretending to beg for his forgiveness.
As he nodded unconsciously, Aurelia’s eyes were immediately filled with surprise and happiness. Seeing her happy, inexplicably, he also felt very happy.
“Then take a bite of the food I cook for you!” She changed the subject back to the food.
Callum couldn’t bear to disappoint her, so he was about to put a shrimp she recommended into his mouth.
However, before he could do it, Aurelia said, “This needs to be peeled. Eat something else first!” Peeling the shrimp was so troublesome. It would be better to leave it to last.
Callum’s face darkened. He put down the shrimp, picked up a piece of what she called braised lamb shanks, slowly put it into his mouth and chewed it a few times.
Suddenly, his face changed drastically, and he couldn’t help but vomit into the trash can beside him.
Was this braised lamb shanks? Not only was it bitter and salty, but it also tasted weird!
After spitting out everything, he quickly picked up the water next to him and drank it in big gulps.
Aurelia was really dumbfounded when she saw this scene. “Isn’t it delicious?”
Callum looked at her innocent eyes and spoke coldly, “Are you here to apologize? You are clearly here to provoke me!” He should have known that this little witch would never give in so easily.
