“No!” Given Callum had been interfering in everything about her recently, if he knew she was drunk, would he teach her a lesson?
He threw the blanket away and got out of bed. “Briar, I gotta go. I have something to do!” She hung up the phone in a hurry and walked to the bathroom despite the headache.
While taking a bath, Aurelia was still thinking. When facing her so-called husband, should she rebel or apologize?
Would she be buried alive if she defies him? What about asking him for forgiveness? Would she suffer less?
Aurelia had to take her chances.
Thinking of this, she hurriedly finished her shower and went downstairs.
Mary was just about to go upstairs to wake her up when she saw her coming downstairs, so she asked Aurelia to come over for lunch.
While having lunch made by Mary, Aurelia came up with an idea. Why not cook a few dishes and send them to Callum?
Well! She thought it was feasible!
Aurelia had thought about it. The priority wasn’t the issue of divorce, but her survival!
So she had to find a way to please Callum.
But the problem here was that she didn’t know how to cook!
Mary was busy in the kitchen. Aurelia hesitated for a moment and decided to learn from Mary.
Then the whole afternoon, there were crackling sounds coming from the kitchen, either the sound of oil splashing out of the pot, or the sound of pots, pans, and spoons colliding with each other.
Finally, at 5:30 p. m, the kitchen became quiet. Mary felt that the whole world was quiet.
Seeing Aurelia fiddling with the lunch box, Mary wiped the sweat off her forehead imperceptibly, hoping that Callum would not be poisoned by the food.
ZL Group Headquarters
Zl Group was located in the city center. The 88-story main office building rose into the sky, with more than a dozen tall buildings next to it.
This was ZL Group headquarters, with no less than a thousand companies all over the world.
Aurelia had passed by this place countless times, which was one of the most representative buildings in Evercrest. But if Alfred hadn’t told her the address, she would never have known that this was Callum’s company.
As far as she knew, the ZL Group had various businesses including high technology, real estate, cosmetics, clothing, entertainment, etc.
Callum was the president of ZL Group.
How amazing Callum was to run such a big company!
Holding the lunch box, Aurelia walked into the office building. At this time, many people had already started to get off work.
Aurelia wore a white jacket, blue jeans, and white sneakers. Her long purple hair was tied into a bun. Many people even wondered if she was a high school student.
Aurelia attracted a lot of attention. Who was she looking for?
Anna Virginia, the secretary at the front desk, stopped Aurelia, who was looking around, looking at her warily.
What Aurelia said next attracted more heads turning. “I want to see Callum.”
Who was she? What was her relationship with their CEO? How dare she call him by his first name? Ninety percent of the people in Evercrest respectfully call Callum ‘Mr. Finnegan’!
Anna smiled with a hint of contempt, “You must be a fan of Mr. Finnegan! Sorry, Mr. Finnegan is very busy. You can go back now!”
There were dozens or hundreds of women who came to see Collum every day, and none of them could see him.
“I’m not his fan. I’m his… family.” Their marriage was a secret. Since they might get divorced someday, there was no need to tell anyone that she was Callum’s wife.
Anna laughed, with the irony and contempt on her face. “Miss, how can you lie at such a young age? Don’t you know that Mr. Finnegan’s family have been working abroad. How can you still call yourself a fan of Mr. Finnegan?”
She waved her hand, signaling Aurelia to leave quickly.
“I’m not lying. If you don’t believe me, call Callum!” She looked at Anna’s contemptuous expression and felt a little angry. What? Was she looking down on me?
Anna crossed her arms over her chest while looking at Aurelia indifferently. “Didn’t you call yourself Mr. Finnegan’s family? Why don’t you call him yourself?”
The obvious disbelief in her tone made Aurelia grit her teeth. She took out her phone to call Alfred.
Did she really want to call? Anna raised her eyebrows, waiting to see Aurelia make a fool of herself!
The call went through. “Hello, Alfred. I’m at Callum’s company, but there’s a mean old woman here who won’t let me in!” Aurelia didn’t want to look at Anna’s distorted face of anger.
After hanging up the phone, Anna scolded, “I’m an old woman? I’m less than 30 years old. How dare you?” Anna looked very arrogant.
“You may not be more than 30 years old, but you do look older than your actual age.” What? Did this mean woman think she could run over her because she worked in such a big company?
Anna laughed out of anger. “Didn’t you call Mr. Finnegan? Why aren’t you invited in?” As soon as Anna finished speaking, the phone at the front desk rang, making Anna’s face change drastically. Could it be that this girl really knew Mr. Finnegan?
She walked to the front desk in a hurry and saw that it was a call from the president’s office. Anna was scared to death. Then she looked at Aurelia, who was looking at her smugly. It seemed that Anna had really offended the wrong person.
“Hello, Mr…”
“Send the girl downstairs to my office!” Callum’s cold voice came from the other side. Anna’s legs went weak, and she quickly held onto the table.
She really messed with the wrong person. Her boss actually called her personally! She was dead meat! “Okay, Mr. Finnegan!” She hung up the phone with her trembling hand, trying to calm herself down.
It took her more than ten seconds to walk up to Aurelia. Anna put on a big smile and said to her respectfully, “Miss, please follow me!” Anna was worried about whether she would lose her job.
Walking in front, Anna felt uneasy. While waiting for the elevator, she glanced at Aurelia awkwardly and said softly, “Um, I’m sorry for what happened just now. I didn’t know your identity. Please…”
Before she could finish, Aurelia turned around and interrupted her with a smile, “You don’t have to explain. I know that many people come to see Collum every day.” Anna shouldn’t have been so contemptuous and looked down on others.
Anna looked at Aurelia in surprise. Did that mean Aurelia forgave her?
“I’m really sorry. I won’t do this again.” Anna had worked as a receptionist at AL Group for two years. She didn’t want to lose her job because of this small matter.
