Aurelia was anxious when she heard Callum say that to her. “No, I really came here to apologize. I apologize for what I’ve done before. I…” Ever since Callum moved back to the villa, he had been interfering in everything she did. She kept reminding herself that she had to do something. She had to build a good relationship with him for her own good.
Before she could finish her sentence, Callum interrupted, “That’s enough. Go back home! And don’t step into the kitchen again!” He took out a tissue and wiped his mouth elegantly.
Huh? Although she didn’t know why, Aurelia still suppressed the strange emotions in her heart and responded obediently, “Okay, I got it. Sorry to trouble you!” After that, she quickly packed up the lunch box.
When she reached the office door, she turned back and asked tentatively, “Um… Callum, can you sign the divorce papers…”
“So you’ve been acting like a good girl for a whole day just for this?” Callum knew that Aurelia came here with an ulterior motive.
Now that he had seen through her, Aurelia stopped pretending and straightened her back before saying, “Yeah, what else?” If it weren’t for what happened before, she would have been grateful to Callum. After all, he had been giving her everything she needed for three years.
However, what Callum had done to her recently offended her. She had no gratitude towards him.
The man sneered, “I told you. If you want a divorce, go find grandpa. As long as grandpa agrees, I will sign the papers!”
Aurelia rushed to his desk, resisting the urge to slam it, and said, “You know grandpa is still in a coma. How can I tell him and let him agree with our divorce!” Callum just wanted to make things difficult for her!
“That’s not my concern! Get out!”
Meeting his warning gaze, Aurelia had no choice but to leave.
Looking at the closed office door, Callum was lost in thought. There was still a faint smell of burnt food in the air.
He lit a cigarette irritably, opened the window to let out the burning smell, and called Jim in. “Go get me another copy of Aurelia’s personal information! I want the details!”
“Aurelia?” Jim was a little confused.
Callum glanced at him coldly as he took out a piece of paper from the drawer and threw it on the table in front of him.
Upon seeing their marriage certificate, Jim’s expression changed from confusion to astonishment. So, on the marathon day, the girl that Mr. Finnegan had been looking at, and the girl who just came was Madam of the Finnegan Clan?
…
Aurelia slowly got into her old BMW. The chauffeur, Tony Micah, was a retired soldier in his fifties. Seeing her listless face, he smiled and said, “Aurelia, has Mr. Finnegan eaten yet?”
Aurelia shook her head in disappointment, closed the car door and put the lunch box aside.
Tony turned around and smiled while comforting her, “Then Mr. Finnegan must have eaten!”
Aurelia didn’t say anything. Thinking of Callum’s reaction just now, she looked at the lunch box next to her, opened it, picked up a piece of braised lamb shanks, and put it in her mouth.
She immediately took several tissues and spit out the food.
Tony looked at Aurelia with a smile, who was about the same age as his daughter, and understood why Callum did not eat the food she cooked.
Oh my god! Was this… what she cooked?
Aurelia stared at the charred food in the lunch box in amazement, and understood what Callum meant.
Callum probably thought she was going to murder him! Aurelia looked at the burn on her hand. She accidentally got the hot oil on her hand when she was cooking. However, it turned out she got injured for nothing.
After 10 p. m.
Callum rubbed his temples as he entered the quiet villa. Under the dim light, he changed into slippers and walked to the second floor.
“Callum…” A soft voice came from the kitchen.
A faint voice suddenly sounded. Callum, a grown man, was startled and his face changed. Seeing the person at the kitchen door, he frowned.
“Why aren’t you going to bed? What are you doing there? You scared me half to death,” he scolded, making Aurelia feel guilty. Did she scare him?
Thinking of this possibility, she suppressed the urge to burst out laughter, pretending to be depressed while walking over from the kitchen with the hot milk in her hand. When she knew Callum would be back soon, she came downstairs to heat milk for him. Unexpectedly, Callum came back at the right time, and he appeared just as the milk was done.
“Callum, here you are. Hot milk!” She handed the milk to him.
He looked at her innocent eyes and felt a slight headache. “Why didn’t you turn on the light when you heated the milk?” Aurelia heated the milk for him? He doubted whether there was poison in it!
Aurelia looked even more innocent, saying, “I did. As I just turned it off, you came back.”
Callum looked at her speechlessly. He bet she didn’t have the guts to poison him! He took the milk from her hand and took a big swig without saying a word.
“Wait…”
Shwaaa. Callum spit the milk into the trash can. Aurelia was so scared that she quickly took the remaining half cup of milk from his hand.
Before she could remind Callum that the milk was hot, Callum had already taken a big swig of it.
Callum’s face darkened as he took tissues.
He wiped his mouth, pointed at Aurelia, whose face turned red from trying not to laugh, and ordered sternly, “Go upstairs and go to bed right now!”
Aurelia opened her mouth and swallowed back the words she wanted to say about the divorce. Keeping a straight face, she pursed her lips, put the milk on the dining table, and went upstairs to her room.
Callum watched her leave,, then looked at the half-full glass of milk, adjusted his breathing, and then followed her upstairs.
Aurelia in the room was so laughing, because she accidentally played a trick on Callum.
As the night deepened, Aurelia went to bed but couldn’t fall asleep. Her head was running wild. What could she do to make Callum agree to sign the divorce papers?
Callum was a stubborn person. Why was he so hard to deal with?
Hearing the sound of a door closing next door, she checked the time and saw it was almost 1:00 a. m.
Did Callum have to work so late every day? Maybe she could buy him a gift tomorrow to please him. He might sign the divorce papers if he was happy.
Thinking of this, Aurelia finally felt relieved. She sent a WhatsApp message to Liana and Cathy about going shopping together tomorrow, and then fell into a deep sleep.
At seven o’clock the next morning, Callum appeared at the dining table on time. Mary quickly brought him breakfast.
“Mary,” Callum called out as Mary was about to leave.
“Yes, Mr. Finnegan?”
He thought for a moment and said, “Did she cook the meal herself yesterday?”
