Shem had thought Olive was a fragile, pretty model who knew nothing about fighting. He wasn’t in the dining hall earlier when Vanessa had explained that Olive kicked asses for her.
“Are you hurt? If you are then Wayne would have his head,” Shem added and Jericho chuckled.
“I told ya,” he said to Olive.
“I…I don’t think he would be that protective of me. I can take care of myself and he knows that,” Olive defended and pulled off the gloves.
“Well, I haven’t seen him being protective of you yet because I haven’t even seen both of you together. But trust me, I know my brother. You’re his f\*cking mate, Olive! Males could kill for their mates. Talk more of Alpha males,” Shem argued on.
“Talk more of the Big Bad Alpha,” Jericho chimed in. Olive gulped. She suddenly felt the implication of it. She would be more than safe now that she was with Wayne. The realization made her smile.
“By the way, Dolly had asked me to bring you up to the Circular Cabinet for lunch with the guys. Since Wayne’s out of the pack for exclusive business, they’re quite idle,” Shem stated as Olive stepped outside of the ring.
“We are not idle. He only gave us a different kind of work this time,” Jericho counteracted and glanced at Olive. She wanted to ask what type of work but decided against it. It wasn’t really her business.
“Let’s go then. After I shower though,” she stated instead of the question she had wanted to ask. She walked out of the gym first, followed by the two men. They stopped by the fountain and began to talk about a different thing while Olive headed on to the bedroom. Immediately she was out of earshot, Shem leaned closer to Jericho.
“Why did Wayne ask for so much tight security around her?” he whispered.
“I don’t know,” Jericho answered in a frown.
“That’s a lie. The different kind of work Wayne gave you that you were talking about is guarding her, right?”
Jericho rolled his eyes and began to walk away from the fountain.
“Even Terry wouldn’t tell me,” Shem huffed and stood akimbo as he watched Jericho walking towards the aquarium.
Few minutes later and Olive stepped out wearing jeans and a red sweatshirt. She had her hair down this time and it was already blowdried.
“Ready, Luna?” Jericho said with a smile. She somehow stopped walking at the mention of the name Luna. She wasn’t used to that name being called around her, talk more of it being used to refer to her.
“Please, don’t call me that. I’m not really comfortable with that name,” she said politely and resumed walking.
“Wait till after the mating ritual. No one would dare call you Olive to your face,” Shem teased and walked ahead.
“He’s just pulling your legs,” Jericho laughed as he noticed the color slowly draining from her face. She managed to smile and they walked to the door together. Olive glanced at the private elevator and sighed. She missed Wayne.
They arrived at the Circular Cabinet few minutes later after taking the general elevator to the top floor. They got in through the door and met everyone inside fighting over a box of pizza. Olive was awed at how childish and carefree they were all acting. Was it because their Alpha wasn’t around? She didn’t think they were this sheepish.
When she had first met Wayne’s men, she felt they were bad like him. Serious minded and always calculative. But seeing them dragging a pizza box with Dolly and Vanessa gave her the opposite thought. The scene was funny though, because Vanessa was being dragged on the floor by one of Wayne’s very hefty looking man. She didn’t know his name. In fact, she only knew Jericho’s name.
“Damn! Don’t let go of that pizza!” Jericho yelled and he ran to pull Vanessa away from the box she was clutching unto tightly, even though it was the reason she was being dragged. Olive laughed.
Dolly looked back at her and chuckled.
“Come sit here. I give up on that pizza,” she said with a shrug. Olive laughed again and sat down on the couch beside her. There were lots of food on the table. Chicken, lasagna, burgers, fries, cakes and drinks. They were mostly junks, but junks are food right?
“Give me back my pizza!” Vanessa screamed as Jericho finally managed to pull her away. Everyone laughed at her. The man, whose name was Crusoe, took the box to the counter and Shem, Terry, and Jericho hurried to join him. Vanessa sat helplessly as she watched them devour it.
“What if it’s poisoned?” she asked angrily.
“It would be a victorious death then,” Shem stated and they all laughed.
“Come have a taste, Olive. Aly’s make the very best pizza in the whole of Aspen City,” Jericho beckoned on her.
She had wanted to decline but, she thought they just wanted to make her feel free. So she jumped up and crossed Vanessa’s body on the floor. She reached the bar and stood in between Shem and Jericho. Crusoe pushed the box closer to her gently and she picked up a slice. She took a small bite at first, but when she tasted it and loved the texture too, she took a bigger bite.
“Good, right?” Shem asked.
“Yeah,” Olive grinned and sat on a high chair. Dolly picked a fry and popped it in her mouth. She laid upside down on the couch, with her legs dangling up, and her head almost touching the floor. Olive noticed that everyone was free and happy. She too smiled. However, the smile faded when the door opened and Gia walked in. Their eyes met and she seemed to glare daggers at Olive.
