Talking with Rose Harper was able to get useful information about the Vale family. Now she knew that she needed to show up at his office and she even knew how to get there, she was sure he would be happy to see her, probably filled with overwhelming joy.
She looked up at the building in front of her and it was so big that she wondered how many floors there were, pointing to the building she began to try to count the floors by the window but was interrupted by a security guard coming to stand beside her.
“Can I help you?” she asked taking her eyes off the building and landing it on him. She studied him from up to down and wondered if it was something in the air or it was the universe’s way of telling her good luck but she had only been meeting smoking hot people since she got there.
“Uhm, ma’am I should be asking you that, how can I help you?” he asked and she could not believe his voice as well. It was as deep as she thought it would sound but she wondered why she still felt surprised to hear it.
“Silly me” she said doing an awkward laugh, I am here to see Cade?’ she said as if she was questioning him.
“Mr Vale?” the man asked now doing a double take on her from head to toe. She watched his eyes and wondered what he was thinking as he sized her up. She couldn’t tell because he seemed to mask his expression somehow so well.
“Yes,” She said as if somehow she had finally understood her. She felt as if they were all speaking a different language in this city even though they spoke the exact same language.
“He is not in yet,” the man said sincerely. He sized her up once again wondering why a grown woman like her would do the same thing high schoolers do. It was no surprise to them anymore that high schoolers come around and wait just to catch a glimpse of Cade and then gush over him while skipping school. He wondered how their parents felt knowing they did that instead of attending school.
“I know, I came to wait so I won’t miss him” Harper responded with a head nod.
The man looked around with amazement, the sun was barely peeking out the clouds, he wanted to go on full lecture mood on her but thought against it, she was not a young child who still needed some kind of guidance, judging from her appearance she was at least a few years younger than Mr Vale and if she was that old enough she should know what she was doing anyway.
“Did you know I moved here on friday?” she asked happy to have a smoking hot man as a company that morning.
He pressed his lips together and nodded his head. “You know? You do?” she asked her eyes widening.
“What?” the man asked confused.
“I mean did Cade know that I was coming for him?” she asked again causing him to shake his head at her.
“Mr Vale did not mention anything of any sort to me,” he said shaking his head. He was indulging her because he felt back for her, maybe she had a dream of ending up with Mr Vale and he wanted to let her down softly.
Over the weekend, Cade and Ophelia had painted the town with the gossip of their relationship, everyone around them knew and now referred to them as the IT COUPLE and of course, they deserved the title. They were everything a couple needed to be and even probably more, “Do you know that Mr Vale is probably engaged to Ms Frost?”
“Oh, that?” she asked raising her hand in the air. The first thing she did as soon as she got to the city was to research every single thing about him without fail. She knew about Ophelia and she was sure he was faking it. “They are obviously faking it,” she said dismissively.
“How do you know that?”
“Well, it is not that, I know but how many wealthy do not people marry for love?”
“That makes sense but even if they were faking it what can we do about it? They seem to selling this perfect image and they have been seen outside together only twice” the man explained. It seemed like for some reason he was now deeply invested in this conversation already.
“That is why I am here” she said causing him to give her a puzzling look. “Cade and I used to date while we were in school” she said proudly like she was holding some kind of trophy.
“Impossible” Cade had never had any relationship before that time and that was part of the reasons that made his relationship with Ophelia special.
“Oh well, we did use to go out together but then we broke up” she explained.
“Wait don’t tell me you are here to try and get back with him?” the man asked like all her words were unbelievable.
“What can a girl do if not chase her love?” she asked and he laughed doubling over while hitting his knees. He looked up at her face after a few seconds to be sure and when he saw the confused hurt expression on her face he laughed some more.
As his laughter died down he held his stomach and was somehow grateful to her for somehow lightening up his Monday morning a bit. “Even if they were pretending do you have that much confidence that he would leave his opportunity to scale up to be with you?” he asked causing her to stare at him.
“Of course, he would not do that at all” he explained like she was six. She was about to retort when his radio went off and it was then he realized he had spent a long time discussing with this strange weird woman.
“I have to go now but good luck with doing nothing” he said as she watched him walk away from her.
“Hey I am Harper” she muttered to herself and suddenly cars began coming into the office one by one as if they had been waiting at the gate.
