The next day, Quentin, Eileen, and Jax Reeves prepared to depart for the Southeastern Region together.
“Jax, when you get there, make sure to listen to Mr. Holland and don’t cause any trouble for him.”
“Don’t worry, Grandma. Take care of yourself and don’t worry about me.”
Jax Reeves and Maeve bid each other a reluctant farewell. With Jax leaving, Maeve would be left alone at home. Three generations had joined the military, and Maeve sighed helplessly but felt proud of them.
Quentin and the others drove to the airport, having booked tickets to the Southeastern Region in advance.
Similarly, Otto and the chairman of Northeast Airport, along with other prominent figures from Jiangbei, were there early to see them off.
“Mr. Holland, after this farewell, who knows when we’ll meet again.”
Otto felt reluctant as Quentin was returning to the Southeastern Region.
“People come and go; the future is long. There will always be a day when we meet again,” Quentin said calmly.
“Take care on your journey. Visit the Jiangbei Governor’s Office whenever you can.” Otto gave Quentin a solemn military salute.
“Alright.”
Finally saying goodbye, the three of them easily passed through a special channel and boarded first class.
It was Jax Reeves’ first time on a plane, and he was seated in a luxurious cabin. Like a child from the mountains, he was amazed by everything he saw. He grew even more curious about Quentin and Eileen’s identities.
“Eileen, what is your relationship with Mr. Holland? Even Lord Vance treats you with such respect,” Jax Reeves couldn’t help but ask out of curiosity.
Eileen looked at Quentin for approval, and Quentin nodded.
“Mr. Holland is the governor of the eastern region, a position of great power.”
“And I am his secretary and personal bodyguard.”
Eileen did not reveal Quentin’s identity as General Quincy to Jax Reeves.
Jax Reeves was shocked to learn that Quentin held such a powerful position.
“General Quincy, I apologize for my earlier behavior. Meeting you is an honor for me.”
At that moment, Jax Reeves felt dizzy and wondered if he was dreaming.
“No need to be so formal. Just call me Mr. Holland. Also, please keep my identity a secret, including from my family.”
“But once you’re in the military, you must follow orders strictly; otherwise, you’ll face many hardships.”
Quentin’s kindness made Jax Reeves respect him even more.
“Understood!”
However, Quentin’s words made him even more curious. Did his family not know his identity?
Time flew by, and the plane landed at the Southeastern Region airport.
The three of them quickly drove to Striudan Hospital. On the way, Quentin stopped at a toy store to buy a pink stuffed bear and a remote-controlled toy car.
Jax Reeves admired Quentin’s love for his son and felt envious.
Eileen had informed Bryant early on to arrange for the surgery. When they arrived at the hospital, Charlotte and others had been waiting for a long time.
Seeing Quentin and Eileen return with a young man in tow, Theo ran towards Quentin.
“Daddy!”
“Sister, brother, hello.”
Quentin picked up Theo, whose well-behaved nature made the three newcomers very fond of him.
“Theo, this is a toy car Daddy bought for you. Do you like it?”
“I love everything Daddy gives me!”
Quentin handed the toy car to Theo, who held it dearly.
“Quentin, is this young man the bone marrow match for Janessa?” Charlotte asked excitedly, surprised that the match was such a young man.
“Yes, there’s hope for Janessa’s illness now. Let’s prepare for her surgery,” Quentin said, equally excited as he introduced Jax Reeves to everyone.
“This is my wife, and this young man is Jax Reeves.”
“Thank you for coming to save our Janessa, Jax,” Charlotte said gratefully.
“Mrs. Holland, it’s my duty. Saving a life is more meritorious than building a seven-story pagoda,” Jax Reeves replied respectfully. Charlotte and the others were very fond of this polite young man.
They all went to Janessa’s ward where Bryant and the medical staff had been waiting for some time.
“Daddy!” Janessa exclaimed happily upon seeing Quentin return.
“Janessa, Daddy’s back. Guess what gift I brought you?”
“Tada! Look, it’s the stuffed bear Daddy promised you. Do you like it?”
Seeing Quentin’s tenderness towards his child moved Charlotte deeply.
Quentin handed the stuffed bear to Janessa. Her smile lit up her face like two crescent moons; she looked adorable and charming.
“Yay! Janessa loves it! Daddy is the best!”
Janessa kissed Quentin on the cheek.
“Janessa, this is the brother who can cure your illness. Thank him,” Quentin said as he looked at Jax Reeves. Jax walked over with a smile on his face.
“Hello, Janessa.”
“Hello, brother. Thank you for curing Janessa’s illness.”
Jax Reeves patted Janessa’s head gently. Seeing how cute and sensible she was, he resolved to do everything he could to help cure her illness.
“Janessa, you’ll be going into surgery soon.”
“You need to listen to the doctors so you can get better,” Charlotte comforted her gently.
“Mommy, will it hurt? Janessa is scared,” Janessa said fearfully.
“Silly girl, you’re the bravest and best in Daddy and Mommy’s hearts.”
“Don’t be afraid. Be strong, Janessa. Once you’re better, you can go to school and play with your friends,” Charlotte said as she stroked Janessa’s face. She felt heartbroken that her young daughter had to undergo surgery.
“Okay, Janessa will be strong,” Janessa said sensibly, making everyone feel both comforted and heartbroken.
Quentin and Eileen accompanied Janessa and Jax Reeves to the operating room.
“Mr. Holland, rest assured we will do everything we can to save Miss Janessa,” Bryant said before entering the operating room and closing the door tightly.
At that moment, everyone felt like time was crawling as they anxiously waited outside the operating room.
