Outside the intensive surgery room at Striudan Hospital in Ofrustol City, Quentin and others waited anxiously.
Janessa’s surgery was still ongoing, and everyone’s faces were filled with worry.
Quentin and Charlotte were as restless as ants on a hot pan.
Finally, the surgery room door slowly opened, and Bryant emerged. Everyone quickly stepped forward, waiting for him to announce the results.
Bryant wiped the sweat from his forehead and took a deep breath.
“Mr. Holland, Miss Pittman, congratulations! Miss Janessa’s surgery was very successful!”
“Miss Janessa is a very brave child, and the boy was also very cooperative.”
“They are both still resting and sleeping. You can visit them once they wake up.”
Hearing Bryant’s words, everyone cheered with joy. Charlotte’s family was especially moved to tears, believing that Janessa was blessed.
“Dean Gao, thank you so much! We will always remember this kindness!” Quentin said gratefully.
“Mr. Holland, you’re too kind. This is what we doctors are supposed to do!”
Receiving gratitude from the Governor of the Eastern Region made Bryant very happy, but his expression soon turned serious.
“But Mr. Holland, there is some bad news. The boy’s body also suffered severe damage.”
“He will need a period of time with various expensive supplements to recover his health.”
Everyone’s mood darkened. The boy was Janessa’s savior and had sacrificed his health to save her, which made them feel guilty.
“Dr. Gao, no matter what, you must restore Jax’s health. I will cover all the medical expenses.”
Quentin felt deeply guilty and was determined to ensure Jax Reeves’ well-being.
A few days later, Janessa and Jax Reeves both woke up.
However, Jax Reeves still looked pale and weak.
Quentin and others took meticulous care of both of them every day.
Janessa gradually recovered her sunny and lively disposition.
Although Jax Reeves’ body had suffered severe damage after donating bone marrow, he also recovered significantly after Quentin arranged for Bryant to provide him with various nourishing supplements.
Both were discharged from the hospital. Charlotte’s family took Janessa home.
Quentin sent military personnel to safely escort Jax Reeves back to Jiangbei and had Otto arrange for Jax Reeves’ military assignment.
It was almost certain that he would join his parents’ unit, allowing him to reunite with his family. His parents were also specially permitted to visit Maeve at home.
At Charlotte’s home, Quentin and others gathered around the dining table.
Emma and Charlotte were busy in the kitchen while Quentin helped the two children with their homework.
Soon, a variety of delicious dishes were served on the table, and the family enjoyed a harmonious meal together.
“This time, thanks to Quentin, Janessa’s illness was cured,” Emma said with a beaming smile, and everyone nodded in agreement.
“Mom, as Janessa’s father, it’s what I should do.”
Charlotte’s family no longer treated Quentin with the same difficulty as before; instead, they grew more appreciative of him.
“In the future, we can trust you to take good care of our Charlotte and the children.”
Emma’s family did not object, and Quentin nodded happily.
Everything he had done finally moved Charlotte’s family.
“Mom! You’re talking nonsense again…” Charlotte scolded shyly, her face turning slightly red.
“What? Are you unhappy that I’m trying to match you with Quentin?” Emma teased playfully.
“No, Mom, please stop teasing me.”
Everyone laughed, and Quentin felt sweet inside seeing Charlotte’s shy demeanor.
“By the way, sis, your birthday is coming up soon,” Rashad mentioned.
“Yes, daughter, your birthday is the day after tomorrow. I almost forgot if Rashad hadn’t mentioned it,” Emery recalled.
“Charlotte has endured a lot for the children and us over these five years. She hasn’t had a proper birthday celebration,” Emma sighed helplessly.
“Mom and Dad, it doesn’t really matter if we celebrate my birthday or not. I’m used to it.”
“I don’t want to be too extravagant or showy. Just having a nice meal together as a family is enough.”
Charlotte said calmly.
She remembered that five years ago when she was still the daughter of the Pittman family, many classmates would give her precious birthday gifts every year.
But after what happened with Quentin, she had endured many hardships and grievances over the past five years and had not celebrated her birthday since then.
However, she no longer resented Quentin. After everything she had been through, all she wanted was for her family to be safe and happy now.
“No way. As my wife, your birthday must be celebrated grandly.”
“Otherwise, how can I be considered a good husband? I will make sure your birthday is well-arranged.”
Seeing Quentin so serious and determined, everyone nodded in agreement. Charlotte couldn’t refuse Quentin’s intentions either.
“Just don’t spend too much money. A simple meal will do.”
Charlotte didn’t want Quentin to waste too much time, effort, or money on her but was secretly looking forward to it.
“Alright, I’ll try to keep it simple as you wish. As long as you’re happy.”
Quentin gently touched Charlotte’s head and kissed her forehead tenderly.
Everyone rolled their eyes; the meal was already sumptuous enough without this sudden display of affection.
At this moment, Quentin was determined to make Charlotte’s birthday grand. How could his wife’s birthday lack grandeur?
Moreover, Charlotte had suffered so much for him over these five years; he had to make it up to her this time.
Meanwhile, the Pittman family and Parry family were also discussing their wedding plans.
Russell and others, who had recently been released from the police station, still harbored resentment towards Quentin and Charlotte.
Coincidentally, their engagement date happened to be on the same day as Charlotte’s birthday!
What a coincidence!
“Hmph, that woman! Does she have to compete with me for attention?” Georgia said discontentedly. “This time, I will make sure she loses face no matter what!”
The head of the Parry family said calmly, “Georgia, don’t worry. As a member of our Parry family, we won’t let you suffer any grievances. Find out where they plan to celebrate her birthday. Our Pittman family and Parry family’s grandeur will overshadow theirs!”
