“Yes, I will cooperate.”
Rachel Hamilton sat up upright with her face beaming “Did you mean what you said? Can you at least say promise?”
Veronica Parker nodded, “Yes, I promise. I am a woman of my words.”
“Well, as long as you take care of this, I will help you if you have anything to do in the future. Of course, it’s because I don’t like to be indebted to other people,” Rachel Hamilton said.
As soon as Rachel Hamilton got Veronica Parker to cooperate with her plan she decided to leave as soon as possible.
She stood up and bid her goodbye, “I’ll go ahead and I’ll wait for your good news!”
“Wait a minute!” Veronica Parker exclaimed.
Rachel Hamilton turned to her and asked, “Is there anything else?”
“Tell me what you knew about the wedding anniversary,” Veronica Parker’s beautiful brows frowned slightly and thought to herself, ‘Was Rachel planning to run away as soon as she achieved her goal?’
“Oh, I forgot. The wedding anniversary in Japan that was meant to set you up, the real culprit behind that was Toby Cage.”
Veronica Parker’s body slightly shivered because of that new information.
She couldn’t believe that of all people, it was Toby Cage who was plotting something evil against her.
“What was his plan? Did he want to drug me so I would stay in a room with him?”
Rachel Hamilton looked at her confusingly, “Didn’t you already have sex with that man? Weren’t you together before?”
“Well, then what was the plan?” Veronica Parker couldn’t blame her for what she said. Rachel Hamilton knew that Veronica Parker used to like a man.
“He didn’t say anything about you being drugged. All he wanted was for you to be at that party. But I don’t know what was the plan after that because the whole plan was canceled,” Rachel Hamilton said.
“Did you tell Nick Cage about this?”
“No, I did not,” Rachel Hamilton responded. “If you don’t get things done with Clare Parker then I’ll tell Nick.”
With that, Rachel Hamilton turned and walked away proudly.
Veronica Parker was stunned for a moment and she wanted to swear at the woman.
She thought she was finally being nice by asking to cooperate with her but there comes one of her threats. Rachel Hamilton might not be the smartest woman she knew but she really got her way most of the time.
Then Veronica Parker remembered what Rachel Hamilton said and she thought, ‘Why would Toby Cage get in touch with people like Clare Parker? What were his reasons?’
Veronica remembered another incident where some strange investors held a banquet that she had to attend. Was it because of the failed plans for the wedding anniversary?
She now fully understood how the wedding anniversary was just a distraction at that time.
Yet she thought she was only being paranoid at that time.
Clare Parker and Rachel Hamilton could not have come out with a plan like that, it must really be Toby Cage.
Toby Cage knew Veronica Parker because they’ve been together for a long time. He knew that once she became suspicious of something she would be very careful with her every move and his plans would most likely fail.
Rachel Hamilton told her that there would not be any drug involved and Veronica Parker believed her. After all, she believed that Toby Cage wouldn’t harm her that way but she was suspicious of what could be Toby Cage’s motive was.
Why would he work with Clare Parker?
What was his purpose for creating such plans of baiting her into a party?
Toby Cage had always been quiet and she thought that he wouldn’t do anything out of line, especially when she’s involved.
Veronica Parker found it ironic how she had to hear the news about Toby Cage’s plans from Rachel Hamilton, ‘Toby Cage, what on earth are you doing?’
Veronica Parker sat on the chair, she rested her chin at the back of her left hand.
She heaved out a deep sigh and thought about how Clare Parker dared to set her up. If she was trying to put her in trouble then it wouldn’t hurt if she would take revenge on her, wouldn’t it?
Besides, she was the victim there, wasn’t she?
Clare Parker seemed to have forgotten about what she could do.
Veronica Parker left the TV station at 07:00 in the evening and she went straight back to the villa.
No one else but Veronica Parker was seen sitting on the sofa in the living room.
The servant poured her a glass of water.
“Go and get Clare Parker for me,” Veronica Parker said.
The servant was stupefied for a moment and said, “Okay, Miss Parker.”
Tom Parker came down from upstairs and saw that Veronica was in the living room.
“Veronica, you’re back. Have you eaten yet?” Tom Parker asked with a concerned tone as he sat down on the sofa opposite to Veronica. “You’re working too hard. Isn’t it better to be a Mrs. Cage at home?”
At that time, Clare Parker came down from upstairs and said, “You already married the rich man that is Mister Cage, why are you working so hard in the TV station?”
Veronica Parker immediately put down the empty cup from her hands as she watched Clare Parker sat down on the sofa and said, “Working hard while being married to a rich man is still better than someone who can’t even get through the door at Winter Villa. Have you forgot about how the internet was filled with private photos of you being a slut. You became so pathetic that you targeted business tycoons to fulfill your fantasies. Who would want to marry a dirty woman like you?”
“How dare you?” Clare Parker turned red and her nose flared in anger. Veronica Parker’s words hit her like a sharp knife.
Tom Parker tried to prevent the fight between the two and he said persuasively, “All right, how come you are all fighting late in the evening? Why not just take a rest? You must both be tired already.”
As soon as Veronica Parker and Clare Parker heard him, they both looked at him furiously.
Tom Parker walked aside awkwardly.
“Do you think there wasn’t a Nick Cage in my list of men?” Clare Parker said as she controlled her emotions. She further confronted Veronica Parker, “You never knew Veronica, and how can you prove that he didn’t? Men are visual animals and there is nothing beautiful that they don’t like!”
Veronica Parker suppressed her anger as she looked at her calmly and said, “You have too much confidence, Clare. I’m embarrassed for you. You’re only a bitch so you must act like one. Most people were born human but you were born a bitch with your thick skin. Why don’t you look at yourself first in the mirror, Clare?”
“Who are you scolding?” Sarah North came over angrily, she rushed to Veronica Parker and pointed to her face. Her sharp nails almost poked Veronica Parker’s delicate skin, “Tell me!”
Tom Parker was startled for a moment before he hurriedly stopped Sarah North and dragged her away from Veronica Parker, “Calm down, it’s only normal for children to quarrel!”
If they had hurt Veronica Parker then Nick Cage would kill them.
Sarah North was so angry that he slapped Tom Parker in the face, “You sit here and listen to your daughter scold Clare? Did you hear how arrogant she was? Why didn’t you stopped, Veronica? Are you deaf?”
Tom Parker’s eyeglasses had been put out of place because of Sarah North’s force. He looked at her with his eyes filled with anger. He raised his right hand to put back his eyeglasses into place.
Veronica Parker finally spoke, “Sarah North, you really disrespect my father, don’t you? You treat him as if he was not a man but only a dog to the North family. He can fight and scold anyone if he wants to. You are really being ungrateful to my father who keeps saying good things to me about you, Elton Parker, and Clare Parker for the sake of your business. Dad, why don’t you just cut off your relationship with such a family? Anyway, when Nick Cage helps you then you can venture any business you want.”
When Sarah North heard what Veronica Parker said, she immediately retorted, “When did I ever disrespect your father? I had always taken him seriously! Veronica Parker, don’t create lies here!”
“Is that the case? Didn’t you slap my dad just now? Am I wrong?” Veronica Parker raised her eyebrows, “You just hit my father in front of my eyes and scold him. You really step on his pride this time!”
Tom Parker clenched his teeth, he tried to look calm and keep his silence.
Sarah North couldn’t help but felt guilty when she looked at Tom Parker. She was caught off guard for as humiliating him in front of his daughter.
“It’s only because I was angry. It’s because of you!” Sarah North said as she pointed her finger at Veronica Parker. “You are the pest in the family!”
“Am I a pest?” Veronica Parker smiled coldly, “Well, in that case, I will dig into your dirt as a pest will do.”
Sarah North was surprised by what Veronica Parker said. Her words were too intimidating for her. She couldn’t tell if it’s because of Veronica Parker or because of Nick Cage who always back her up.
Clare Parker looked at her with hatred, “What are you planning to do?”
“I will make you tell people that you only set-up Rachel Hamilton,” Veronica Parker said.
“Are you kidding me?” Clare Parker asked.
“Why? Does that sound funny to you?” Veronica Parker said with a hint of a smile on her face.
“Are you trying to help Rachel Hamilton?”
“I am not helping her. I’m only doing it because I hate you. I thought the drug was only between you and Rachel Hamilton but it turned out that you’re also planning to do it to me..”
