Rachel didn’t expect Clare to set her up and invite her to tea after.
Clare beat it to the end and called the police. Journalists and fans of Rachel all gathered at her place to get her side of the story.
She even hired a bodyguard so she would be able to go outside her house unscathed.
Clare didn’t stop at that. She also invited a navy company to escalate the matters with Rachel.
Rachel’s name has always been on top of the entertainment industry, but now her image suffered a fatal blow.
Despite her making trouble all the time, her fans still continued to adore and support her.
But because of the recent recording, her image was totally destroyed and most of her fans seemed to change their minds about her.
In the company, Rachel was in the boss’s office with her legs crossed and a smug look on her face.
“Did you ever have a frosted operation in your brain?” The agent asked her while looking at the computer.
“Just give me an answer already and tell me which hospital is good!” Rachel angrily pointed at the computer.
“Rachel! Don’t stand up just yet. If you want to continue your career, you should take this seriously. The other party obviously wanted to mess with you really bad.”
“I am not afraid of that bitch!” Rachel spat in fury.
“As of the moment, you will not be able to receive any projects just yet. Your two movies, 1 TV Series, and a brand commercial will be terminated. How are you going to deal with these?”
“I will just pay for it, okay?”
“The liquidated damages amounted to 1. 6 Billion USD.” The boss looked at her calmly.
She remained quiet for a moment. Even Rachel’s father could not come up with such an amount at once.
“Then let’s think about other ways on how we could get through this.”
Rachel thought that if she had only married Nick, 1. 6 billion would not be a big deal. He could even throw 6 billion in front of those capitalist’s faces. Rachel felt herself slowly falling into the pit of depression.
She realized that the idea of Nick marrying her will always remain a fantasy. It was obvious that Nick will not take her seriously.
She can also beg Clare to clear her name but that would be beyond humiliating for her.
“How do you usually solve such a thing?” Rachel asked humbly.
“Well, you can ask the client to cut you some slack.”
“You mean, beg?” Rachel asked.
“But, do you really think that you would appear sincere enough for them to give you a chance? You’ve offended them!”
It’s almost impossible for Rachel to beg especially to Clare. But she had no choice but to do it or she will lose her career otherwise.
She dialed Clare’s number and she immediately went through the line. She never expected Clare to answer the call that quick.
“What a trick!” Rachel exclaimed.
“Well, I learned it from you,” Clare responded.
“Come on, how much will it cost for you to give up the investigation?” Rachel thought that money could solve everything.
“Do you think that I’m short of money? You have to repay me tenfold for the humiliation that I have suffered!”
“A foreigner wants to deal with me, a native of capital. You should think about it again.” With that, Rachel hung up the phone. She regretted calling Clare. Their issue online became an after-dinner conversation.
Veronica watched silently. She wondered how did the recording go public. She then realized that it must be none other than Clare. She was right when she warned Rachel that the woman that she messed with is far more insidious than she thought.
Rachel would certainly lose her entire career should the matter won’t be handled properly. There was no way that Clare would let go of the investigation. The recordings are all out and their issue spread like a wildfire.
While Veronica was reading comments about the recording during her spare time, the office door opened without her consent.
Veronica hurriedly shut the webpage and acted nonchalantly. Rachel sat on the sofa beside her and wrapped her arms around her chest. “I’ll give you a chance to get revenge.”
Veronica pondered about it for a few seconds. “Close the door.” She eventually said.
Outside the door were different TV Station colleagues so Rachel got up and close the door so they can have some privacy.
“We should work together to kill that bitch!” Rachel referred to Clare. Her face was haughty as if she’s not asking for Veronica’s help.
“I think you’re taking it a bit seriously. I don’t really care about your issue. I don’t even recognize the four girls in the entertainment industry!” Veronica stated as a matter of fact.
“Well, all you have to do is recognize me! Don’t mind the others! They’re all rubbish who are not worthy of your time.”
Veronica was aware of the fact that a lot of people already knew that she had a conversation with Rachel. They were even squinting and staring at her on her way in.
“You must be talking to the wrong person. You know that Clare and I are close families, right?”
“Even though she is a family of yours, it doesn’t change the fact that she used you to frame me. I might be the one who prescribed the medicine but it was her idea! Don’t you want revenge?”
Veronica just looked at her in a disinterested manner.
“Have you been to her place and settle the matter between you?”
“I already called her and it all went to nothing. She’s so full of herself.”
“You can’t blame me. I already warned you but you paid no heed so I can’t promise you that I will cooperate with your plan.” Veronica said leisurely.
“You really think that you can stay out of trouble? Clare had already done damage to you and it is not guaranteed that she won’t do it again. Does it even occur to you that you might be her next victim?” Rachel finally said something with sense.
Veronica was fully aware of Rachel’s ultimate goal. She wanted nothing but to get Nick and be a stepmother to her six children.
“So, what do you think? If you cooperate with my plan this time, I will not bother you again.” Rachel coaxed. She noticed that Veronica was still hesitant about her offer.
“All right, if you agree, I can spill you a secret.” She added to make her offer more enticing.
“What is it about?” Veronica asked intrigued.
“It’s about your father’s wedding anniversary.” Rachel proudly said.
“The anniversary has long passed but Clare has still got no idea of my plan for her.” Despite telling it, Rachel noticed that Veronica was still quiet so she grew a little impatient.
“What on earth are you worried about? Given your relationship with Nick, nobody would dare mess with you.”
Veronica stared at Rachel speechless. She wondered if she meant that as a compliment or sarcasm.
“Are you cooperating or not?” Rachel could no longer help to raise her voice as she became very impatient with Veronica’s indecisiveness.
