“Ah! Idiot, what have you done?! You let me appear in front of Nick Cage looking like that!”
The collapsed Rachel Hamilton rushed straight to Veronica Parker’s office.
The door slammed against the wall, causing Veronica Parker to sit up straight, “Rachel Hamilton? What are you doing here?”
“How on earth are you better than me? Why does Nick like you and not me?”
Veronica Parker hurriedly stood up and closed the door, isolating curious colleagues outside. She turned around and asked, “Are you out of your mind? What did I do to you? And what happened to your eyebrows?”
“Don’t mention my eyebrows!” Rachel Hamilton shouted with anger.
Veronica Parker felt like her eardrums were going to be broken by her!
“All right, I won’t mention it. I said, what on earth are you doing here?” Veronica Parker looked bewildered.
Rachel Hamilton sat weakly on the sofa and cried, “I did not drug you at the party. Why does Nick Cage have to call me to the KING Group for a lesson and warning? Wasn’t my birth much more honorable than you? Why do I have to talk to you and see your face? Why should I be responsible for your safety? Why should I be the one to blame whenever someone will try to harm you?”
Veronica Parker was bewildered. She paid attention to what Rachel Hamilton had said which made her feel aggrieved.
Did she just come from the KING Group and was scolded by Nick Cage? What did she mean about the protector?
“Wait, did you say drug? You drugged me at the party?” Veronica Parker’s words came to an abrupt end when she thought of Clare Parker’s strange behavior. “Is that why Clare Parker acted weird? Because you drugged her? Did you really do that? The medicine. You didn’t give it to me in the first place, did you?”
Rachel Parker didn’t blame her for thinking so, because she was safe and sound!
Instead, it was Clare Parker who acted badly!
“Aren’t you all right in the end? It’s all good. Why are you still doing this to me?” Rachel Hamilton did not reconcile to it.
Rachel Parker didn’t do anything to her but she still ended up like that!
Veronica Parker suddenly remembered a detail from yesterday’s party. When she was sitting there and the waiter came over with the champagne and was bringing her a glass of champagne.
She was about to get it but it was snatched by Rachel Hamilton!
At that time, she thought that Rachel Hamilton didn’t like her and didn’t want to give her a drink.
She turned around and gave Clare Parker the champagne. She wondered back then why Rachel Hamilton and Clare Parker had such a good relationship.
But because she was with Nick Cage at that time, it didn’t make her think so much.
Veronica Parker leaned against her desk and watched Rachel Hamilton coldly, who failed to get away with it. She added, “So, if Nick Cage hadn’t shown up in time that glass of champagne would have been mine, and I’d be the one who ended up at the top of the hot search list, right?”
“Aren’t you all right now?”
“Should I be grateful for you?” Veronica Parker was so mad that she wanted to kick Rachel Hamilton!
“That medicine should be given to you in the first place. You probably won’t feel proud by now!” Rachel Hamilton was on fire.
“If I did drink that, can you still get out of the KING Group?” Veronica Parker sneered.
Rachel Hamilton got angrier when she heard this and stood up abruptly. “Veronica Parker, are you mocking me for not being liked by Nick? Do you think you are amazing? When he gets tired of playing with you, he will marry me in the end! ”
Veronica Parker looked at her, unresponsive.
If she were so confident, her voice wouldn’t be so high!
But Veronica Parker was curious about something else. “What did Nick Cage tell you?” If it was just ordinary, Rachel Hamilton wouldn’t be so angry with her that she even dared to come to her office to make trouble without thinking of her image.
Rachel Hamilton looked at her expectant face and responded angrily, “Why would I tell you? If you want to know, ask him yourself! Don’t you seduce men? Yesterday you were in the bathroom with Nick but why are you not in his office now? ”
Veronica subconsciously looked at the mosaic-covered glass window to dodge the question.
“It should be you!” Rachel spat at her as she immediately took a hint on what’s running through Veronica’s head.
Puzzled, Veronica said nothing in response.
“I was supposed to use Clare to deal with you. But you are lucky indeed that the champagne was mistakenly given to her instead to you.”
Veronica would like to respond but figured out that it will only worsen the situation so she remained silent.
Instead, she thought of another question.
“So, you’re saying that you are the reason behind Clare’s suffering and humiliation since you are the one who let her drink the champagne that you put the drug on. Do you even worry that she may get back to you?”
“That’s none of your business. You bitch!” Rachel could no longer contain her infuriation. She stormed off and slammed the door.
Veronica looked at the sky in frustration and let out a sigh.
“I am too kind to fit in with people like you.” She muttered to herself.
She decided to refrain from going back to her father. With Clare’s condition, she could only imagine what kind of trouble she would get herself to.
Clare has been staying in her room for a few days. She stood by the window and dialed a number. There was no answer. She tried to make a call again until the person on the other line finally picked up.
“Can’t you stop? I already told you that I’m in a bad mood right now. Stop messing around!” Rachel answered on the other line.
“Aren’t you going to say anything? You owe me an apology.” Clare calmly said.
“I just wanted to know your reason for doing what you did. I never wanted to be a part of your plan. I never wanted to help you steal a man. It’s just a misunderstanding.” She added.
“I have a prescription of the medicine that was put in your drink. I could care less, honestly. You deserve it.” Rachel retorted and hung up the phone.
Little did she know that Clare recorded their entire conversation.
“You brought out the worst in me. Now I’m going to give you a taste of your own medicine once and for all.” Clare mused to herself.
On that very afternoon, the recorded conversation between Clare and Rachel was exposed to a social media platform.
Clare was no longer reluctant in hiding the truth. In her post, she even added an intriguing caption: “Call the Police!”
The matters between them were already made transparent to the public. The post put Rachel under the bad light. The netizens immediately sympathized with Clare as they perceived her as the victim. The comments were mostly opinions from people scolding Rachel for what she did to Clare.
