“Oh? Then I can only wish Mr. Hussain the best of luck,” Rose said with a hint of indifference.
“Ms. Sharp, we’ve been rivals for ten years. I know your personality well, so don’t pretend to be calm,” Lilia replied. “I invited Sadaf, a titan in the Achela pharmaceutical industry. When Mr. Rainier arrives, I’ll have Layla arrange a meeting. Our alliance will then have investments from two oligarchs. I want to see if you can still remain this composed!”
With that, Lilia left the hotel, her head held high as if she had already won. She believed in avenging every grudge. Rose had caused her a loss of ten billion dollars, and she planned to repay it a thousandfold.
In her eyes, a trillion-dollar fund was as heavy as Mount Tai, and no company in Niarak could withstand it. The Sharp’s Group would collapse like a landslide, beyond rescue. Rose would watch her hopes shatter and live in despair forever.
And then there was Flynn-the most despicable man in history! When the Sharp’s Group went bankrupt, she would crush Flynn’s eyeballs with her high heels for daring to ogle her legs earlier when she was talking to Sadaf.
Rose continued to smile as she watched Lilia leave, but her face grew serious afterward. She had personally heard about Sadaf’s investment of eight billion dollars-five hundred billion Ostrad coins. With the strength of their three-company alliance, a trillion wasn’t out of reach. A trillion was a massive number that no enterprise could ignore.
Currently, Energence Pharmaceuticals only had two billion dollars. Rose had contacted many companies recently but with little success. Even though the Hussain’s Group’s Dragon Gate Group and the Swanson’s Group had suffered significant blows, they still leaned towards the three-company alliance. With Layla holding down the fort and now securing Sadaf’s investment, other capitals were even less likely to invest in Energence Pharmaceuticals.
A shadow crossed Rose’s face as she decided to ask Flynn about the capital he had found.
But as soon as she reached the east hall, her face fell. While she was dealing with urgent matters, Flynn seemed unbothered, sitting among a group of women and drinking endlessly.
“Mr. Clark, when are we going back to Phoenix Manor? I want to play golf again!” one woman cooed.
“Mr. Clark, you’re so good at getting a hole-in-one! I want you to teach me golf,” another chimed in.
“I want to learn martial arts; Mr. Clark, teach me!” yet another added.
Flynn sat at a table with the R&D department staff, accepting drinks from Trusova and others who kept flirting with him and offering him drinks one after another.
Harriet sat quietly beside Flynn like a little rabbit, not saying much but diligently pouring him drinks.
The table was filled with elites-medical PhDs earning over a million annually and all very attractive women who could easily turn heads with a bit of makeup.
Harriet felt inferior despite living in Niarak city because she led a frugal life with cheap clothes and no jewelry.
Katrina also felt an inexplicable despair despite smiling outwardly. She had offended Flynn twice due to Callie’s illness and even accused him of being a fraud, leaving a poor impression on him despite her efforts to make amends.
“Mr. Clark, I’ve offended you before; I’ll drink this as an apology,” Katrina said, downing her glass of liquor which burned as it went down her throat.
Flynn didn’t refuse and drank his glass too. “Your leadership has greatly improved the R your hard work is evident to all. Energence Pharmaceuticals wouldn’t be where it is today without your contributions.”
“Really?” Katrina’s eyes welled up with tears at Flynn’s acknowledgment.
Flynn smiled and raised his glass. “Let’s all toast Ms. Richardson! To the past and the future! I believe Energence Pharmaceuticals’ R&D team will soon be renowned in Ostrad!”
Everyone raised their glasses and drank heartily.
Tears streamed down Katrina’s face-Flynn’s words implied he had forgiven her after all these hardships!
“I… I’ll work even harder… I’m sorry; this liquor is too strong,” Katrina stammered through her tears before heading to the restroom to compose herself away from everyone’s eyes.
The table fell silent as everyone reflected on Katrina’s struggles with Flynn.
They all knew about Katrina’s feelings for Flynn and how she had joined Energence Pharmaceuticals at its inception despite being able to secure high-paying jobs elsewhere-all likely for Flynn.
Whenever Flynn visited the R&D department, everyone noticed Katrina’s excitement and hesitation to speak up due to fear of further offending him. They wanted to help but feared angering Flynn further, so they could only sympathize silently.
Now that Flynn had forgiven Katrina, everyone felt happy for her.
“Is everyone drunk already? We said we’d get Mr. Clark drunk tonight!” Ruth broke the silence with a mischievous smile.
“Who said I’m done? Come on, Mr. Clark, let’s play some drinking games!” Sasha challenged.
“I’ll join too! Mr. Clark praised Ms. Richardson earlier; we’re jealous! You have to drink with us!” another added.
“I can’t handle liquor well; how about this-I’ll drink beer while you drink half a glass of liquor?” suggested another girl from the R&D department as they rallied around Flynn determined not to let him off easily.
Despite their efforts, Flynn seemed unfazed by the copious amounts of alcohol he consumed while the girls around him started swaying unsteadily.
“Who is that guy? He looks ordinary but is so popular,” Leander, the owner of Cherry Blossom Inn, muttered curiously while standing at the east hall entrance admiring the scene filled with beautiful women from Energence Pharmaceuticals’ top-tier R&D department when suddenly he felt a slap on his head from behind.
“Leander! What are you staring at? My boss’s woman is off-limits!” Orion suddenly appeared at the entrance alongside Edwin, Uriah, and over ten other prominent family heads simultaneously showing up at Cherry Blossom Inn!
Wait! Did Mr. Kennedy just say his boss’s woman?
