The next day, Quentin arrived at Time Group. His eyes were cold as ice, and his presence was intimidating. The employees didn’t dare to breathe loudly, thinking he was there to cause trouble.
Quentin went straight to Charlotte’s office.
He pushed the door open and saw Charlotte working diligently, her expression calm.
Seeing someone enter, Charlotte looked up and saw Quentin with a scruffy beard and a haggard face. She felt a pang of sympathy. Was he feeling guilty and upset because of her?
“What brings you here?” Charlotte tried to hide her concern, feigning indifference.
“Are you here to apologize to Nash for what happened yesterday?”
Hearing Nash’s name, Quentin felt a twinge of pain but quickly regained his cold demeanor.
“Apologize? Why should I apologize?”
Quentin’s expression was icy, and Charlotte had never seen him so indifferent towards her.
“Quentin, no matter what, hitting someone is wrong. How can you be so unreasonable?”
Charlotte was emotional and shouted at Quentin.
“I didn’t like him. Do I need another reason to hit him?”
“Let’s not argue about this. I’m here to discuss the custody of the children.”
Hearing Quentin’s words, Charlotte was initially confused, then caught off guard, and finally became agitated and angry.
Custody of the children?
What do you mean? Are you trying to take the children from me? You were the one who did wrong, and now you’re acting like this? Indeed, you’ve forgotten old love for new. So this is the real you, Quentin!
“What custody issue? I’ve raised the children with great effort for the past five years. What have you done? What right do you have to ask for the children?” Charlotte nearly screamed, becoming more agitated.
Indeed, Quentin hadn’t been with them for the past five years, causing them much suffering. He always felt he owed them.
But now he was back. He had done so much for Charlotte’s family, yet she never believed him and constantly questioned and criticized him.
“I don’t care how close you are with other men, but Janessa and Theo are my children too. No matter what, I won’t let another man raise them.”
Quentin remained as cold as an iceberg, his expression unchanged.
“Close with other men? Quentin, what are you talking about? Explain yourself!”
“I, Charlotte, am innocent. If you slander me again, I won’t let it go!”
Charlotte was utterly frantic. She couldn’t understand why Quentin would misunderstand her so deeply. It was clearly Quentin who had an ambiguous relationship with Virginia, yet he was now accusing her.
“You know what you’ve done. I don’t want to waste time arguing with you.”
“In any case, I will take Janessa and Theo back. If you don’t agree, I have my ways to bring them back to the Howard family.”
With that, Quentin turned and left without looking at Charlotte.
“Quentin! If you dare take Janessa and Theo away, we’ll see each other in court!”
Charlotte stood up angrily and slammed her fist on the desk.
“As you wish.” Quentin responded coldly, his gaze icy and imposing.
After Quentin left, Charlotte was heartbroken and couldn’t stop crying. She felt wronged and didn’t understand why Quentin was treating her so harshly. She was both sad and furious.
As Quentin exited the company building, he spotted a man with a swollen face-Nash.
Seeing Nash reminded Quentin of everything between him and Charlotte. He wanted to beat Nash again but restrained himself; it wasn’t worth dirtying his hands or compromising his dignity.
Nash saw Quentin and instinctively stepped back in fear.
Remembering how Quentin had beaten him yesterday made Nash tremble with fear; he wished he could find a hole to hide in.
“What are you doing here?” Quentin’s voice was sharp and oppressive.
Under Quentin’s gaze, Nash felt suffocated; Quentin’s eyes were like those of a grim reaper ready to drag him into an abyss.
“I’m here to discuss a business deal with Charlotte.”
“A business deal?”
Quentin was puzzled. What kind of agreement had they reached?
Charlotte, oh Charlotte, how many things are you hiding from me?!
