Chapter 442: Taking Office!

Book:Fallen Heir Rising Published:2024-8-1

Quentin sped all the way to the entrance of the Moonstar Hotel.
He got out of the car and walked to the front desk, trying to suppress his anger.
“Miss, is there a lady named Charlotte who checked in today? I am her… friend.”
Quentin felt a dull pain in his heart.
The receptionist’s eyes flickered as if she remembered something, and quickly smiled.
“Sir, please wait a moment. Let me check for you.”
“Indeed, there is a lady named Charlotte who checked in. The room number is 502.”
Quentin immediately dashed up the stairs, not even bothering with the elevator, moving at an astonishing speed.
The receptionist breathed a sigh of relief. However, thinking about the money she had just received, she felt at ease. How this matter developed had nothing to do with her.
In a moment, Quentin arrived at room 502. Inside, he heard sounds of passion.
“Boom-”
Quentin’s mind exploded. He was on the verge of losing his sanity and almost burst in to confront the couple.
But at this point, why should he trample on his last shred of dignity? Everything he had done was nothing compared to Charlotte’s so-called childhood sweetheart.
Indeed, his presence… was merely a disruption to their relationship.
Quentin’s heart was dead. Leaning against the wall, his chest heaved violently as he fought the urge to break in. He turned stiffly and left.
He didn’t know how to accept all this or how he managed to walk out. At that moment, he just wanted to go home and hide away.
As the commander of the armed forces, how could he show such vulnerability in front of others?!
He didn’t want to accept this cruel reality but had no choice.
The facts were right in front of him; he couldn’t find a reason to defend Charlotte!
Scenes of his time with Charlotte flashed before his eyes. Was it all a dream?
He couldn’t believe a woman could pretend to love someone so convincingly.
“If this is your choice, then I wish you happiness. From now on, we go our separate ways.”
He walked out of the hotel without looking back.
In a high-rise building opposite the hotel, Nash held a cigarette between his fingers and watched through binoculars, a smile slowly forming on his lips.
“Hahaha… Emma’s assistance is indeed effective!”
The Howard family remained as desolate as ever.
Quentin walked in like a lifeless shell.
Sylvia was still at the company. Quentin returned to his room, slammed the door shut, and collapsed heavily onto the bed, his pale and haggard face streaked with tears.
At this moment, he was not General Quincy, who swept through battlefields invincibly; he was just an ordinary man deeply wounded by love. Men don’t cry easily, but only because they haven’t been hurt enough!
He felt like a pitiful clown for all his efforts during this time.
How laughable!
So be it…
From now on, they would have nothing to do with each other!
Meanwhile, Charlotte had completed her transition with Time Group.
She was now the new chairman of Time Group and needed to hold a shareholders’ meeting.
Charlotte entered the conference room where various shareholders were already waiting.
Seeing Charlotte enter, everyone was stunned by the beauty of their new chairman.
Her small oval face, fair skin like carved jade, smooth long hair tied up revealing slender eyebrows, eyes like autumn water with a clear depth, a delicate nose, and cherry-colored lips that made people want to kiss them!
No wonder she was one of the top beauties in Stresall!
“Hello, shareholders. My name is Charlotte, and I am the new chairman of Time Group.”
“I called this meeting today to discuss the future direction of our group.”
Charlotte introduced herself solemnly.
“Without further ado, I have an ancient court formula-Heavenly Fragrance Collection. We can use its various secret recipes to develop our new products.”
“I believe that with everyone’s cooperation, we can revive the group.”
Charlotte’s words were powerful and confident. She seemed determined to win her bet with Virginia.
“Excuse me, Miss Pittman. The group is now riddled with problems. How can we trust you with just a beauty formula?”
A shareholder interrupted Charlotte.
“Without a significant investment, everything is just empty talk. You’ve just taken office; it’s hard for us shareholders to trust you without securing substantial investment.”
“After all, just being beautiful isn’t enough; strength is what matters.”
“Exactly! If you want us to listen to you, show us some real capability first!”
Others echoed in agreement. Everyone doubted Charlotte and looked down on her with disdain and ridicule.
Charlotte held back her emotions and clenched her fists tightly.
“Rest assured, shareholders. I will find a way to secure a significant investment for the group.”
The shareholders didn’t take Charlotte’s promise seriously. In their eyes, they didn’t believe a newly appointed woman could accomplish anything significant.
After the meeting, Charlotte felt slightly frustrated.
Now that Time Group was in turmoil, she had to secure substantial funding to prove her capability and gain everyone’s trust to solidify her position.
