Chapter 443: Pickup!

Book:Fallen Heir Rising Published:2024-8-1

Charlotte sat in the chairman’s office, lost in thought. She missed Quentin.
In the past, no matter what difficulties she faced, Quentin was always the first to support her, even if she thought he was more of a hindrance and a worry.
Now, they hadn’t reconciled yet, and she was still angry about Quentin and Virginia. She hoped Quentin would apologize and explain everything clearly.
She remembered that Janessa and Theo finished school early, but she was still at the company and couldn’t pick them up.
Thinking of Emma at home, she was about to call.
Suddenly, she remembered that she couldn’t find her phone this morning. In a rush to get to the company, she had come directly without it.
She picked up the office phone and dialed home.
“Hello, Mom, it’s Charlotte.”
“Charlotte, what’s up?” Emma feigned curiosity.
“I won’t be off work soon. Can you pick up Janessa and Theo?”
“Sure, don’t worry. Focus on your work, and I’ll have dinner ready when you get home.”
“Okay.”
After hanging up, Emma continued dialing Nash’s number, as if everything was going according to plan.
“Hello, Auntie,” Nash answered.
“Nash, can you pick up Janessa and Theo from school later? Have dinner at my place tonight.”
“Sure, Auntie, no problem.”
Both hung up with a mutual understanding, and Nash smiled smugly.
Time passed slowly, and soon it was time for Janessa and Theo to finish school. Nash drove to Sloburg Kindergarten.
If it weren’t for trying to win Charlotte’s favor, he wouldn’t bother picking up these kids!
At the entrance of Sloburg Kindergarten, Nash marveled at the grand gates and buildings. He parked his car and waited quietly for the children to be dismissed.
Luxury cars were everywhere, as many aristocratic families sent special vehicles to pick up their children.
Soon, the kindergarten was out.
Nash scanned the students for Janessa and Theo. After a while, he spotted two small figures standing by the gate.
Their teacher stood beside them.
“Teacher, why haven’t Mom and Dad come yet?” Janessa asked, her big eyes blinking adorably.
“Janessa and Theo, maybe your parents are busy today. Be good and wait with me,” Dania gently reassured them. Her long black hair and black-framed glasses gave her a scholarly and kind appearance.
“Okay,” the children replied obediently.
“Janessa and Theo! Uncle is here to take you home!” Nash called out with a big smile as he approached them.
“Hello, sir. Who are you?” Dania asked suspiciously since it was usually Charlotte or Quentin who picked them up.
“You must be their teacher. Hi, I’m their uncle Nash,” he replied with a smile.
“Janessa and Theo, is he your uncle? Have you seen him before?” Dania asked the children.
“Yes, he knows Mom and Dad. Uncle, where are Mom and Dad?” The children didn’t like Nash much but asked anyway.
“Mom and Dad are busy today. They asked me to pick you up,” Nash said impatiently, eager to take them back to Charlotte’s house.
“Dad said only Mom, grandparents, or Uncle can pick us up. Anyone else is dangerous,” Theo remembered being taken away by Zaire before and was very cautious now.
“The kids are right. Sir, can you contact their family? I need to confirm,” Dania insisted, aware of their previous kidnapping incident. Raphael had personally instructed her to ensure their safety, hinting at Quentin and Charlotte’s significant status.
Reluctantly, Nash called Emma and explained the situation.
“Let me speak with the teacher,” Emma said over the phone.
Nash handed the phone to Dania. After speaking with Emma, Dania gave the phone to the children.
“Janessa and Theo, it’s Grandma,” Emma said gently.
“Grandma, why aren’t Mom and Dad here yet?” Janessa asked.
“They’re busy today. Be good and go home with Uncle Nash. Grandma made lots of delicious food for you.”
“Okay,” Janessa and Theo replied disappointedly but obediently handed the phone back to Nash.
“Janessa and Theo are so well-behaved. Come on, let’s go home,” Nash said with a forced smile that seemed insincere.
Though reluctant, the children said goodbye to Dania and got into the car.
Dania noticed their wariness towards Nash and felt uneasy. She found Charlotte’s number in the parent contact list and dialed it.
